The Fun ... all the scenes at the Sarabhai house ... starting from the take off of Purvi's computer classes, including Purvi wanting Daadi to cut the ribbon ...
The adorable dogs and their formal introduction ... Dhyan chand not because he's an athlete, but because he thinks so much ... Jahanpanah and Anarkali and the cutie pie Puch Puch ...
The very cute brother and sister scene with Simple ... the moment RigVed started praising Chhanchhan so profusely, I was like Really? Another soppy brother-sister duo? Then I saw Chhanchhan's face and started laughing ... and sure enough, she asked the exact question I would have asked my brother ... "What do you want?"
The plans for the wildlife camp ...
The Manav -Himanshu scene ... Himanshu fainting, Manav promptly calling Chhanchhan to yell at her, Chhanchhan getting genuinely worried ... Himanshu recovering (though people don't usually recover from allergic reactions to nuts so quickly without taking some anti-histaminic) ... and the return yelling ...
The Fury ... cracks in the sanskaari facade ... Uma Ben's long memory for grudges, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and it appears Uma Ben feels she has been scorned, and deeply too ... her husband is not very happy, but apparently she can be unpleasant to live with unless her whims are catered to ... so he lets it go. And panders to her ego by food talk.
More cracks ... the insistence on managing the accounts and not letting her son take them over, the barbed remark about his wife ...
The bahus are aware that Uma Ben uses her husband's name as a shoulder to fire from ... and like him they probably also know life will be unpleasant if they don't pretend to believe every word she says ... although the simple one (Ranjana or Sanjana, whichever) keeps letting the facade slip.
And there is a daughter in the house ... another major crack developing ...
Manav might be careless, but he is a watchful brother ... Mansi knows he can persuade Uma Ben for anything ... so Manav is the pampered one ... And Mansi is nowhere near as obedient and dutiful as she appears.
A dysfunctional family indeed.

did not see the episode, but from your review, i think that is exactly how a family like that (with an umaben-type mother) would behave.. very true to life. (and actually, i see parallels in the childrens' nature to DABH)
ReplyDeletewhich is one of the reasons why a mother should never be the strict parent, imo.
Strict ... or over-strict ... that is the question, I think. However strict the mom or dad, the parents should always keep lines of communication open, and never be so strict that the kids are scared to tell them anything. I think communication is the key issue.
DeleteBut many Indian parents do behave that way ... they don't treat their children as thinking, responsible adults, and feel that the best way to deal with kids is to lay down rules and expect instant obedience always ... even when the kids are adults. And then kids feel the need to hide things from parents, and even lie. Don't know about DABH here ... this is just my random musing about real life :)
Strictness never solved anything ever.....i absolutely agree with Dia on keeping lines of communication open at all times...kids have to believe that they can unburden themselves if they ever wish to..they have that window to go to among their various avenues...this window may look formidable at times but it should be still their best bet for a go-to....the onus is on parents to make it so...
DeleteLiked the episode...fun and light. Also, like the anticipation they are building to know what else is happening within Uma Ben's family. Good that they are doing indoor and outdoor shooting. Enjoy watching Chhanchhan's family, Dadi is so cute! Dogs are adorable :)
ReplyDeleteYes, the layers and problems in Uma Ben's family are slowly starting to unfold, makes it interesting. Uma Ben is a smart MIL ... she can shoot barbs at her sons, but she keeps her relationship with her DILs very cordial, and controls them in a different way.
DeleteThe camp should be fun to watch ... three love stories unfolding - Himanshu-Simple, Mansi and her bf, and of course Manav-Chhanchhan.
On a related note ... Jhalak Dikhla Jaa starts airing end-May. So we will see Sanaya on weekends as well :))) Hope she gets a good choreographer - she is a very good dancer.
ReplyDelete3 times blogger swallowed my bak bak, looks like it got fed of my bak bak yesterday
ReplyDeleteSo in a nutshell, does bhavra really exist or is it a trick by the sister to get manav along with her for the trip...if she knows way to her mom saying yes is manav, then she would know for what reason manav will say yes, if that means cooking up a bhavra story, so be it, she can go ahead and have fun with her girlfriends and Bhai can do chowkidaari
*running to check and scold blogger for swallowing Shwethu's bak bak* ... My blogger has not swallowed anything ... spam folder empty! Phir se likh!
DeleteAs Lakshmi said below, TC article says Mansi's love story with CC's brother is starting. Telly Buzz confirmed :))) So one nok jhok vala love story, one Simple Simon story and one chupan chupayi story ... fun times ahead :)))
