10/11 - Epi 117 ... Sarvam Amangalam ...

10th Nov Thurs

In complete and stark contrast to the engagement of the day before, comes the 'amangal' engagement today ...

Wrong person, wrong time, wrong reasons ...

Slimeball Shyam has his pawn firmly within his grasp, and he uses her well. Gullible Buaji ... does she have NO brains at all?!
Khushi's hesitation, her flashbacks, her obvious unwillingness, her tears ... none had any effect on the man who supposedly 'loves' her ... neither on the aunt she has been trying so hard to support. The only two who were happy with the engagement were the Evil Knave and his Pawn ...

Khushi's father does nothing but shed tears which everyone is blind to ... can't the man make any sound at all?
Khushi's mother has lost her brains and any gumption she ever had.
Khushi's sister never had any gumption anyway ... she depended on Khushi, and now Khushi stamds defeated, Payal can do nothing except cry silently for her ... when it was her turn, Khushi braved so much to sort out her life, but Payal can't return the favour ...
Khushi is defeated ... as much by her debt to her beloved Babuji as by her memories and her discovery of her love ... a love as unexpected as it is hopeless ... But maybe somewhere some hope still flickers, because she is so hesitant to make this initial commitment ... till buaji physically lifts her hand to force her.

The sham engagement was painful to watch, redeemed only by Khushi's hesitation, her last silent defiance, and her flashbacks.

Arnav's torment starts ... and the way it was portrayed at reaching it peak just as Shyam puts the ring on Khushi's finger was well done ... as though he senses there is something wrong with his ladylove ...
His helplessness at his own feelings, his frustration as he rubs at the imaginary drop of blood ... try as he might, he can't scrub out her memories, her touch, her feel ...

Loved the way Khushi didn't give Shyam the time of day ... her silent accusation at his perfidy - they had agreed, she thought, to NOT get married, and here he betrayed her completely ... I think slowly Khushi's trust in Shyam will start to ebb. It already has, seen in her extreme discomfort in his presence, her silence, her refusal to speak to him ... Shyam may have won over her aunt with his smooth talk, but Khushi is far from won over ...
I hope she doesn't tell him of her love, neither does he come to find out ... because Shyam can be a very ugly customer ... he will try to take her by force, if he feels all his carefully laid plans are coming to nothing.

And loved the part where Khushi stares at both her hands ... one with the bandage, the other with the ring ... and her feelings start to crystallise.

Not very happy with Khushi going back to RM ... hope the cv's don't throw in random romantic scenes for the trp's, though from San's interview, it seems those are definitely on the way ...
Like with SG - we never wanted random romance, we wanted distance ... again same feeling here ... we need distance between Arnav and Khushi ... time for their feelings to crystallise ... hers already are, but his too ...

Thankfully the ME is on Nov 20th, so that is the next milestone ... Shyam is getting so much screen time, it has to be leading up to something big.

  1. hi diyu,

Loved the way they Arnav restless.......Barun's acting was good....the way he was trying to gasp breath, trying to wipe the blood stain off....all was too good.........

why can't anyone see Shashi moving his head sideways, which denotes a no.....he was clearly saying no.........

i always loved the khushi behaved around shyam...though she always thought of him as a good person and a friend, but her inner self never trusted him, the way it trust arnav...even when he had paid for her parents travel, and said he will ask for a return favor later, she was not so sure of it....

even i am looking forward to the ME, and not at all angry with Khushi going back to RM, as this time she is not going on her wish....so even if arnav insults her, when he will know the true reason, he will repent....also me thinks the cv's must've had a good reason to sent her to RM..maybe so steps towards the truth...which will comeout on ME....

    :)

  2. Geetu,

yep, loved the restless Arnav scene, in tandem with Khushi's sham engagement, as though he could sense that his girl was in trouble ...
And then his trying to rub the blood off ... really reminded me of Macbeth and 'Out Damned Spot' ... it was really well done. Barun showed Arnav's frustration, his anger so well!

Don't even talk about the Gupta household and Shashi ... it's just so lame and unbelievable! I can't wait for this track to get over ... hopefully it will by the next ME or I will seriously stop watching the show - at least till this is over. The cv's are doing it for TRP's, but they seem to have put no thought into it at all, it's just too farfetched. Hopefully it won't be too prolonged.

Yep, Khushi was aleays casually friendly with Shyam, but ever since the whole engagement talk has started, she has been very wary and uncomfortable around him ... And yes, I remember even when he paid for her parents' ticket, she tried to pay him back immediately - she has never treated him like an 'apna' ... in contrast to Arnav, when he paid for her father's treatment, she has not offered to pay him back, she has accepted his help, as though she knows unconsciously his motives are pure ... unlike Shamoo's.

I do wish they had kept Khushi and Arnav apart, maybe shown a few weeks gap, or even a few days ... before her going back to the RM ... but oh well, the CV's know better than anyone else that Arnav Khushi are the USP of the show, and can't be kept apart for too long. Besides, they're writing the script, they know the story, so yes, I agree, there might be some solid reason to send her back to RM. And the way it was done was within Khushi's character all right - she can't say no to Anjali, who has always been sweet to her. Besides, all said and done, she is in love too ... however much she tries, she can't help wanting to see Arnav again too.

Hope the ME puts an end to this engagement ... that's the one thing bothering me the maximum right now! I don't want any confessions, realisations ...

I wouldn't even mind if the breaking of the engagement means that Arnav will send Khushi away from him to save his sister's marriage ... in fact, that would be more sensible to me than an enforced marriage.
But anyway, let's wait and watch! One more week of drama till the ME!
