30/9 - Epi 87 ... Reaching out?

30th Sept

Lots of nuances in the last Arhi scene ... need to watch in detail. But first, the rest of the episode. Hmm, episodes are going to be long this entire week..

The initial Arhi scene ... exactly as I predicted ... :-) Loved the look Arnav gave Khushi when she was trying to convince him that yes, La wrote that letter and she's truly heart-broken ... it was like, oh Khushi, who are you trying to fool? But no anger, just an amused tolerance ... he doesn't believe her, and she knows he doesn't believe her. And they both know why she's trying so hard. And when he tears her letter, her look is also resigned, as though, I knew it was lame, it wouldn't work, but I tried my best. He throws the pieces on her, with that very telling remark, give this reply to the one who wrote this letter ... again, they both know whom he means. She tries again, but he stops her with a look, don't go there. And she stops. And leaves with her usual one last backward glance.
And there was no anger at all ... for the very first time. No, Arnav is not angry that La left ... he's not even angry at Khushi's meddling which made La leave ... La is over. She was actually over a long time ago.

Shyam-Khushi - went the way expected ... Shyam very happy at Khushi-less RM, buaji has stopped Khushi from ever coming here again ... lord, man, when has Khushi ever listened to anyone's orders? And the hit and miss - she surprised to see him there, he wheedles out of it and sends her off. Just wonder if Khushi did indeed tell her babuji that she was coming here, and whether she would wonder about that later.

Sweet La-Khushi scene - La leaving for London for good. She's upset but not heart-broken, and she knows that it's over between her and Arnav. Khushi does try, but she's not buying it.

Shyam consoling a distraught Anjali ... when is this girl not distraught?! Now she's worried that Arnav will never marry, and will be alone all his life, enclosed within that hard wall of his ... well, there she does have a point. And Arnav, more than anyone, needs someone of his own, to love him and be with him always. And Anjali knows that he doesn't share his feelings with anyone. But she doesn't know that he has started doing that now ... slowly ... very slowly ...
Mami-La ... Mami trying to persuade La to return ... for her own reasons, of course ... but still, she's trying.

Shyam-Anjali-Mami do marriage drama ... Arnav sees through it ... and tries to tell them that it's truly over between him and La. And he doesn't want to talk about marriage.
Mami adds her two-bit ... call La back. And Arnav is just not interested.
Anjali adds her bit again ... La did everything for you, changed herself ... and yet you didn't stop her even once. And realisation on Arnav's face ... no, he didn't stop La ... he didn't even want to stop La from leaving.
And the last bit ... I won't go to say sorry to anyone ... anyone except Khushi. Have you forgotten, Arnav?

Khushi again at RM ... again hit and miss with Shyam ... off she goes.
Khushi's house - Buaji is getting tiresome with her blind worship of Shyam. Shashi babu finally manages to get Rani Sahiba's number. Or does he? Shashi babu needs to spruce up his sleuthing skills ... a lot!

Khushi interrupts important meeting ... uh oh, not a good idea, Khushi! Although if Arnav was as madly in love with la as you thought, then he did need to get news of her leaving town asap ... but really, this is not done! And he was surprisingly calm about it too. Thanks heavens for small mercies ... unlike other shows, she didn't start off shouting in the meeting room itself, and she looked equally horrified at what she had done.

Then the talk ... he says again and again, it's over, we're done, finished, I don't care what she does ... and she asks, did you ever love her at all? How can love finish so fast? And she's right, of course ... he never did love La ... but how dare she tell him that? And no, he doesn't care that La left, because it just proves to him his own point ... that love doesn't last. She tries again ... LA was crying, does it make no difference to you? Have you no heart?

And the part which I'm trying to interpret ... he says, no, I'm heartless. That's what you want to say, right? At least being heartless is better than being two-faced. At least I don't tell myself, lies, I don't put on a show of telling the truth ...
What is he talking about? The strange tug between them that they both feel? That he doesn't want to feel, and she is trying to tell herself doesn't exist? Is that why she's pushing La at him so fiercely? Her own guilt at this tug? He doesn't want it, she knows ...
And she does know that he's talking about them ... her words ... aap kahan se kahan baat ko le aaye? ... why have you brought us in between this? This is about you and La ...
His words - face the truth ... yes, it is about us ... and there is going to be no us ... so get out!

La was fine as long as it was an unemotional, convenient relationship, but when it threatened to get more demanding from her end, he didn't want it ... and he doesn't want to go anywhere near Khushi, because it's threatening to get out of control from his end, and he doesn't want that at all. Not at any cost.

Another interpretation ... he may appear heartless at not calling La back, at calling it quits and declaring the relationship over so abruptly, but he’s facing facts. He knows it’s over. And so does she, she knows that La is not the girl for him if he could put her out of his life so easily ... but she’s trying to get La back because of her own guilt at her role in their breakup. To absolve her guilt, not because she thinks he and La truly love each other. And again, this would explain her words ... why are you dragging me into this, this was supposed to be about you and Lavanya ... not about my motivation, which again he’s being harshly judgemental about. Though maybe with more truth this time ... yes, she is going the extra mile because she feels guilty, but she’s genuinely upset for La as well, and till this last meeting with ASR, she doesn’t really know the depth of his feelings for Lavanya. Or lack of depth.

And the last look ... hers says ... don't do this to yourself, don't push me away, I can't see you alone because I care ...
and his look ... I know I hurt you again, but it's better this way, I have to push you away ... because I care ... I don't want to, but I care.

But oh god ... precap ... what is she up to now? And Shashi calling Rani Sahiba?

What I felt about the Arnav Khushi scene ... although everyone in his family tried, it ws all about 'get La back, because we don't want you to be alone.' Which is justified ... yes, Arnav doesn't believe in love, marriage, but life is long, and later when loneliness sets in, more than romantic love, it's companionship, having someone of your own by your side that matters. But have they tried to really probe his feelings? No. Only Khushi does ... how can you let La go so easily, without looking back ... did you ever love her at all? Because love can't end in a day ... and yes, she's right, he knows that he never loved La, it was a convenient relationship, and when it became inconvenient he had no problem in dropping her ... neither did La, fortunately, but that's another story. But have either of them consciously realised what is happening between them? Why she keeps meddling in his life, and why he keeps telling her to get out ... yet misses her like crazy when she does?

I would really like Khushi to stay away from him for a bit ... and see him missing her again, but with that precap, I doubt it will happen.
