10/4 ... Epi 11 - Mother-Son Band Bajaoing CC-P

Wednesday 10th April 2013

Expectedly UB is up to some tricks, and not very nice ones ... shrewd judge of character, already saw that Purvi is the nervous sort, who needs support, proceeds to disrupt her class very cleverly by destroying her confidence. Even with a friend by her side, Purvi is unable to reply back. And the first day of classes ends badly.
Were all the students sponsored by UB, or only one?

On the other side, Manav Chhanchhan continue to rub each other the wrong way, first over tent allotments, where both are annoyed at being put in the wrong by their dagabaaz friends ... then sniping at each other over overheard conversations and registers ... and then Manav pulls the lighter gun on Chhanchhan and succeeds in embarrassing her thoroughly. And an embarrassed Chhanchhan is a mad Chhanchhan ... and she's out for revenge.
The tricks are silly, typical college type ... but without any major malice or serious intent ... just the type of leg pulling that is embarrassing, no worse ... though that might lead to something more ...

In the middle, Rigved and Mansi snatch some private moments ...

*Edit*

Adding some points ... although the Uma Ben-Purvi scene infuriated me on first watch, I realised it was for the same reason that Gunjan infuriated me at first ... an educated, 'modern' girl of today, why does she lose her tongue at the first sign of trouble, and need someone to hold her hand?
But this is Purvi's character, and they have shown her to be this way from the start, she even said as much during her wedding scenes, that she was always the nervous, under-confident sort ... she first developed some confidence when she thought her groom had selected her for herself, that confidence was shattered ... now she built up some confidence doing something she enjoyed and was good at ... but the slightest set-back shatters her again ... and she is not the type to fight back, because someone has always been there to fight her battles for her - first her father, then Chhanchhan.
So it will be interesting to see how they deal with this ... with Gunjan, they did it beautifully, but this is just one track, not even the main one ... however, I hope they will take it slowly and show how Purvi evolves into a more confident person, and learns to fight her own battles. Of course, that will divert Uma Ben's ire from Purvi back to Chhanchhan ... UB is a very shrewd judge of character, and she already sussed out Purvi very accurately ... she knows Chhanchhan is the more worthy opponent, and the stronger one ... so she attacks the weaker front.
Uma Ben is becoming  interesting to watch. And the Uma Ben-CC battles should be even more so.

Manav-Chhanchhan scenes were amusing ... the fights are silly, juvenile school/college type nok jhoks ... both have started off on the wrong foot, and both keep striking sparks off each other ... both are headstrong and used to getting their own way ... Manav by wheedling, and Chhanchhan because she is confident, and a natural leader, and usually gets full encouragement from family and friends. Plus it seems people usually like her, so she is not used to this instant dislike and scrapping ... but she is not the sort to sit quietly and take it either. She gives back as good as she gets. She is no 'mahaan' bahu/beti ... but neither is she Supergirl heroine ... she really is just a normal girl.

It will also be interesting to see Manav's relationship with his brothers ... it looks as though he and Mansi are the youngest by a long gap ... they call their mother Mummy, while the other sons and their wives call her Ba ... and they seem to have a more informal relationship with her compared to the older boys, especially Manav.

I liked the gun scene ... Farhan was good there ... a pretend anger, because he knows the gun is fake, of course, so hiding his amusement yet anticipating with glee how embarrassed CC is going to be when the truth comes out ... while Himanshu is tearing his hair out!
And Sanaya was damn good there ... especially the last expression of mixed embarrassment and anger ... I can't help comparing to Khushi, where the scenes were much more intense ... she has tempered the intensity and hatred, it is now just the embarrassment of humiliation, but the helplessness of Khushi is completely missing, instead there is an 'I'll get you back for this" look. A subtle change in expressions, but the difference it makes to the characterization! This is Chhanchhan, not Khushi ... all the way! Well done, sunshine girl!

  1. Despite the vindictiveness of Uma Ben, I liked the point she raised. Purvi has to learn to fight her own battles, an essential trait to be self reliant. Of course CC will help, but in the long run Purvi has to stand up for herself. I hope the track is heading there, a lesson learnt by both friends.

    1. Exactly, Uma, I was just about to add this in the edit. Purvi has to fight her own battles, and she has to be prepared to face questions from students, you do get all types of students, not just nice ones ... like you get all sorts of people in the world, nice and not so nice. One has to learn to handle them all. I hope CC counsels Purvi on the phone, and doesn't come in to babysit her during class. I am interested to see how they will handle this.

    2. Dia & Uma, i agree with u too. Purvi has to be strong enough to prove her decision. The decision to call off her marriage though CC was there , it was made by Purvi and her father. So hopeful CV's will make her strong to face this situation ...that will be nice to watch. The one who makes decisions must be ready to face it's consequences too. One can't give self confidence in a silver plate just like that, though some external help may boost, it should come from the concern part. I'm also eagerly waiting to see how they are going to handle this. I'm glad they are giving space to all characters... CC bro and Manav's sis are also good and natural in their scene.

Dia, i too third or fourth the motion regarding ZGH in the other thread....would love to read more bak bak....Aslo need to say, u definitely make the episodes better..

    3. I was talking about Gunjan in the main post ... Gunjan had Samrat to help her develop the confidence she needed - but it was Gunjan who developed the confidence and faced her battle alone.
I'm sure here Purvi will have Chhanchhan's help, but it is Purvi who has to develop that confidence ... and that is what I am waiting to watch. So it should not be UB vs CC here, it should be UB vs Purvi. If Purvi emerges stronger and manages to handle UB better the next time round, plus her computer classes then take off well, that will be a good completion of the track, and of its lesson.

And they have lots of characters so they have plenty of tracks to deal with ... each can be dealth with slowly and steadily. Me too ... I liked CC's brother-Manav's sister scene - they are both decent actors too.
So far the only weak link is really Farhan :( He is improving, but he has a long way to go.

ZGH ... will do more bak bak in the other thread after this Friday's episode :))) I don't deserve all that tareef :)) ... this place has some great writers, I love reading as much as I love writing here :)))

  2. Caught snippets of Mary Tyler Moore's reunion on Entertainment Tonight and I really liked the way they kept it relatable but above all, funny (and not the loud, toilet humour type). Hope Chanchan is that kind of a show.
Frankly speaking tho, I hope the Creatives don't lose their way - UB's a naaaassssssttttttttttyyyyyyy specimen and coupled with the fact that she is a traditional desi woman who has borne 4 sons...........is a very dangerous combo! :(

    1. Aki, she also has a daughter, that is a saving grace! And also, she does not seem to be the type who favors sons, and thinks girls are nothing ... her interactions with her daughter and grand-daughter indicated that. In fact, she is equally scathing with her older sons ... it is only Manav who is her laadla, and who can get away with more than the others.
They are adding layers to Uma Ben, she is intriguing me more and more.

  3. Dia,
Liked ur edit and agree with u abt Sanaya. She's is one who's making me to watch this show. I just watch for her , my hooking factor for this show. Hopefully other casts seems to be interesting too. It's just third week, they have not shown the bond in UB family, looking forward for that. They have shown the DILs and sons separately, yet to know their equation with their wives. Also CC sis ....This team definitely has all the ingredients for a family sitcom...they should do justice and come up with good tracks and script. Bas.

    1. Lakshmi, honestly atm, the UB-Purvi war is holding my interest. I am waiting for the Manav-CC juvenile games to end, and their story to get a bit more serious. Agree, only Sanaya manages to hold my interest there ... though the acting of Simple-Himanshu is cute enough.

But I'm mainly intrigued by UB's family ... I want to see more of them and their interactions, and then how Chhanchhan will manage to handles things there ... we were promised that she sorts things out using her brains, and that's what I'm looking forward to.

    1. Hey nb!!! *hugs* Good to see you here ... how on earth did you stumble across this blog? :)))

IF is a mess, yaar ... full of hyper kids ... the Sanaya worship is getting as ridiculous as the BS worship used to be! Fortunately the BS pankhis have shifted to private CC's etc, don't have to read their drool everywhere, but now the San pankhis have taken over!!! Hey bhagwan ... these people are actors, not Gods!

I meet the sane San pankhis off and on at the same place ;) Why did you leave? That place is very quiet these days though ... I hardly go there.

    2. I was randomly searching for good arhi post on google thats how I came across this blog :)
I still miss IPK and IPK gang. They all seem soo lost I mean barun looks weird, sanaya looks lost in her offscreen interviews, though akshay enjoys playing new aakash he looks bored and rest of them are gayab. It seems only abhaas have moved on. I so wish they all come back together because all that offscreen drama meant nothing ho gaya :(

Talking about IF thats place is ughh I mean why can't they treat actors like actors why soo much lowe. I guess watching anjali they are acting like her overdose of lowe and blind worshipping *bangs her head*
I never thought sanaya will have such irritating fans lol.

And about leaving IF and other place I had some personal issues and also all this was effecting my studies so had to leave.

Thats it for now will comment on CC and other serials if time permits :)
      bye tc *Hugs*

    3. Hey Anon,

i too miss IPK and the gang...

i was watching Akshay Dogra's interview with Team Sarun the other day and the way he described the relationship everyone on IPK had with each other was so heartfelt and genuine...
i hope sometime soon at least a few of them can come in a show together...

    4. Hey Anon and Anita,

I miss IPK gang too, they had such a nice chemistry..I mean the entire team!
But I guess, life has moved on...

    5. I know, the gang was so well knit together and had such a great chemistry on and off-screen ... such a pity sab kuch meant nothing ho gaya! Damn SP for yanking it off ... at least we could have gotten the rest of the gang, and Viraf sounds like a really fun guy from his interviews. Hope they do get together some time in the future, am sure they will jump at the chance ... though NOT with 4 Lions please! And not for the next two years ... I hope CC runs for at least that long.

I hope Sanaya gets an equally nice group here, or at least something close ... they young ones already seem to be bonding well from the camp pics ... though we haven't had too many segments on CC till now either.

  5. hey diya...was a holiday today cause of gudi padwa..so logging in pretty late from home....my mom was watching the uma ben and purvi scenes with me and both of agreed that supriya is a damn good actor..

and yes, manav and chanchan fights are pretty silly!! :-)

and looks like the low TRP this week could be pretty much due to IPL as even I am not able to watch it live these days cause my 70yr old dad is hooked to IPL :-) and I dont want to be the silly one fighting for the remote..LOL!!

    1. Darn ... I don't get the IPL channels here, and my husband isn't interested even if we did ... though I guess in India it's a different story. I read that this year IPL has affected the GEC's more than it did last year :( So I guess we will have to wait till IPL is over and hope that TRP's improve after that.
