SG track starting

14 Jan

Nothing much happened - after A finds letter, gang is worried he will change his mind yet again. Mayanks finally calls his mom.

15 Jan
Nupur talks to Mayank, he tells her his mom is coming.
SG terrace scene - shaadi talk again, G worried sick that MN problem hai to hai, if she and samrat were to be separated - the thought is frightening her to death, the only thing on her mind is - we're not married, the same thing can happen to us.

The whole shaadi thing ... why has it come up in Gunjan's mind at all ... obviously only because of Nupur's problems and the shaadi atmosphere in the house ... completely natural for any girl who's in love to start thinking about her own wedding in such an atmosphere, even one who's not prone to dreaming or thinking about such things at all. On top of which, Bui's repeated comments that she will now get the other two girls married off also ... and I'm not surprised that Gunjan is worried sick!!!!

Her thoughts aren't about marriage ... they're about being separated from Samrat and that's what's frightening her to death ...the only thing on her mind is - we're not married, the same thing can happen to us. Shows her naivety to some extent, shows the kind of upbringing and family that she comes from - that for her, being married is the ultimate solution to this threat that is suddenly hanging over her head.

samrat is coming from a completely different place ... probably because of his parents' divorce, he hasn't thought of marriage as a solution, all he knows is that he will not be separated from Gunjan, heck, he doesn't even want to talk about the possibility of that happening ....

BUT ... and this is where this couple's understanding of each other comes in so beautifully ...

Samrat says - that's the second time in one day you've mentioned marriage, Gunjan now all worried and conscious as to what she's saying - till now it was all about separating from Samrat, but Samrat's question makes her a little conscious, she tries to explain that it's because of the shaadi ka mahaul and all that's going on that she's getting these thoughts. Samrat understands, oh yes he does, but he has far less faith in marriage being the ultimate solution than she does and he says so.

And then HER understanding instantly ... even in the middle of her fears and worries, she knows where he's coming from - because really - is there anything this couple doesn't know about each other? - and replies to his unspoken statement, by saying - all marriages don't break up. And the way she looks at him in this part - she knows why he's saying this, but she wants so badly for him to not feel the same way about THEM, she wants to know that in spite of his parents' experience, his own feelings about marriage, what does he see for them ...

And this for me was the BEST part of the scene - he realises that at the moment, she's scared, she's looking for reassurance, not a debate on marriage, so he just gives her the reassurance she needs so desperately, by saying no, all marriages are not like that, because everyone doesn't have my chashmish. And she needs that closeness, that reassurance desperately - so he's succeeded, because she stops thinking about separation and suddenly she's just a young girl with dreams in her eyes about the boy she loves and being with him forever. In the words that he says, she reads his meaning as - if you need marriage to feel secure, that's what we'll do, because you want it. Whether that is really what he means, or whether he's just saying it because he knows it's what she wants to hear, we'll find out later but for the moment, he's said what she wanted to hear and he's got what he wants - she stops worrying about separation from him, and instead starts thinking about really being with him forever, being married to him.

And she goes into his arms again, needing that closeness, that reassurance desperately - he's succeeded, because she stops thinking about separation and suddenly she's just a young girl with dreams in her eyes about the boy she loves and being with him forever.

And this is why I loved the song on Sajan ... the build up was beautiful and totally apt

Kaise batayen, kyun tujhko chahein, yaara bata na payen
How do I tell you why I love you, oh my love, I can't say it,
baatein dilon ki dekho jo baaki, aankhen tujhe samjhayen
what I can't say, what's in my heart, let my eyes tell you
tu jaane na, tu jaane na

Nigahon mein meri dekho jo hai bas gaya, voh hai milta tumse hubahu
See the one who's taken up residence in my eyes and my heart, see how much she resembles you
Jaane teri aankhen thi ya baatein thi vajah, huey jo tum dil ki aarzoo
Was it your eyes or your words, that you became the one desire of my heart

Yes, he's succeeded, she's forgotten her fears for the moment in her dreams - Gunjan has never been the kind to dream about marriage, that has never been her goal, but the problems with her sister have forced these thoughts into her head, and with Samrat's love and reassurance, those fears are replaced for the moment by dreams. The fears will come back tomorrow, but for today she's content to dream about her love like any young girl and dream about her own happy ending, especially when the boy she loves is only too happy and willing to dream her dreams with her.

His fears and insecurities about the institution of marriage will come back later too, but tonight the most important thing was to reassure her of his love, because for once, she's not the more mature one of the two, she's the one needing his maturity, his strength - and his unconditional love. They are like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, when she needs his strength, he's there to give it to her, and when he needs hers, she becomes strong for him.

Hope this track is played out better than the sister one, and as well as the reconciliation one. Maybe we need a few more discussions on IF to tell the cv's what we expect - they couldn't have done the reconciliation any better, without any mediators, everything we wanted - if they'd been reading our discussions, so we should continue them!
