TV This Fortnight - 1st-15th Jan 2014

Happy New Year to everyone here! Hope the new year brings you all loads and loads of happiness, health and prosperity! Love to all!!!

Programs I'm watching ... new year and a new list !

Gustakh Dil ... still holding my interest, although Ishaana is getting annoying, and the actress shrieks too much!

Ek Nayi Pehchaan ... decent watch so far ... truly a hatke love story! A love story between saas and bahu!

Rangrasiya (of course ... that has its own post!)

Balika Vadhu (occasionally)

Anyone tried Yeh Jo Mohabbatein and BeIntehaa? I tried the latter, as it airs just before Rangrasiya ... so far nothing great, it's light hearted at the moment, don't think it will get serious, but on the other hand, it's touted to be a passionate love story so let's see. Surprisingly, the girl is unimpressive, while the guy is okay ... from the promos it seemed the other way around.

Also tried the former ... not bad, but not really held my interest to the point that I can't miss it ... lost track while I was away, and can't be bothered to catch up.

  2. BREAKING NEWS:Viraf to quit 'Ek Boond Ishq'
Viraf Phiroz Patel, who plays Mrityunjay in Ek Boond Ishq, is planning to quit the show to pursue his Bollywood dream.

He says, "The lure of films has always been tempting for TV actors and when a top production house approaches you, you have to consider. I have already conveyed it to the production house and channel. It has been a difficult decision because I put in a lot of hard work."

So will his character be killed in the show? "That's a call the creative team will take," says Viraf, who has got film offers. Viraf, who is a well-known model, earlier did shows like Mahi Way and Kismat. He was going to replace Barun Sobti in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, but the show went off air.

    1. Lol, another one bites the dust! What's with the lure of BW and TV actors? The buzz is that Viraf has a YRF offer ... quite possible, as he acted in the YRF TV shows like Kismat and Mahii Way.
Chalo, at least he has been upfront about it and clarified why he is leaving ... if the rumors are true, then obviously, turning down YRF is not easy. And the chances of success with such a big production house are obviously much higher. I think with the gap between TV and movies reducing significantly in the last year or so, more and more TV actors are taking the plunge ... if they are upfront about it, then nobody really minds, their bridges back to TV stay intact ... its only the audiences who get attached to the actors who suffer. And most TRP audiences seem to be pretty immune, they don't really care much, as long as the writers maintain continuity in the characters.

I personally feel they should kill off the characters, as audiences tend to identify an actor with a character, especially if the story is done and has reached the stage of being stretched just for the sake of it. But here, the show is barely a few months old, so it might be difficult, as they still have a lot of story left to tell. So I guess they will probably go in for a replacement. Good thing I stopped watching it ... am not too bothered either way. I liked Viraf in EBI, but didn't really connect with Tara ever.

By the way, the hero in the new Poonam Dhillon show has also said exactly the same thing ... he sees his role on TV as a bridge to BW!

    2. I am watching EBI and loving it but alas Viraf's imminent departure is quite disturbing since he has been playing the role so well. The romance was just starting and we will now have to do with a replacement. Somehow Viraf and MJ have become synonymous in my mind. Hope they do not kill off his character and get a worthy replacement.
