Gunjan's plan, Samrat's fight

5th March

SG - Gunjan giving up, Samrat fighting back. A clash of wills - not the first between SG, but the first time gloves were off, the first time Gunjan was the weak one and Samrat the strong, determined one. And the first time he treated her without kid gloves, his vulnerability about relationships gone in his surety about this one. He loves her, he knows she loves him and he will not let her give up without a fight. Even if it's HER he has to fight.

And Gunjan ... more and more his determination scares her ... after all, what is their future if she can't even walk? Earlier, when she was whole, she suffered from low self esteem, but now? It's at an all time low - she will be a burden on him, one he never wanted in the first place - earlier she could at least hope that he might change his views on marriage, but now, does she even WANT him to? If he changes now, it will be out of pity, out of guilt ... no, she cannot take that! He loves her, she knows he does, but has he thought it through what it will be like living with a paralysed girl? She loves him for his love, but for the sake of her love, she can't let him do what he's doing. She has to at least try to drive him away ... for his own sake.
I remember the story I read years ago where a boy and a girl were madly in love. The girl had an accident and lost her legs and the boy told her fervently that it didn't matter, they would be together forever. The girl, wiser, as most girls are, told him to stay away from her for a month, just a month. To go to all their old haunts, with their old friends, and imagine what it would be like to got here with her in the state she was in now, to have to help her in and out of her wheelchair or with her crutches all the time ... The boy agreed and stayed away for a month. She waited hopefully - she was as sure of their love as he was, and she knew he would come back and tell her it didn't matter at all, that he was ready for the commitment.
A month later, when he came back, she got the shock of her life. In a low, ashamed voice, he told her he had done what she had told him to - and he realised she was right. He couldn't live with a handicapped girl. Not for the rest fo his life. And he left - leaving her heartbroken.
I think the story ended there. No happy endings. It left an impact I've never forgotten. And I can understand Gunjan - again, this love story is far more mature than any college love story so it's difficult to even recognise the conflict of emotions contained within it, forget about understanding them. But her conflict is there, it's so clear ...
I don't like what she's doing - setting up Samrat with Dia, though. She's playing with the emotions of three people, one of them her own sister. But she thinks she's right, and like many people convinced that they are doing the right thing, she isn't willing to see a different point of view. And for once, Samrat is the more mature one - he's able to recognise what she's doing and why she's doing it ... and that's why he's prepared to go all the way to fight her for herself. My only wish is that he carries Dia with him, because it's not fair to see her get hurt in something that should only be between Samrat and Gunjan. And that's another reason why I feel Gunjan is wrong - involving someone else in her own private battle with Samrat. Though maybe she has to, she can't see any other way. No other boy on the horizon for her - none who would be able to play such a game, and definitely none whom Sam would allow within shouting distance of Gunjan ... even if she ever felt herself capable of attracting any other boy. And Samrat is showing no signs of being driven away, on the contrary, he's leaving no stone unturned to show her that he feels the same way about her that he always did, regardless of the disastrous valentine's night, regardless of her paralysis, regardless of everything. So she's at her wit's end as to what to do.

He's even apologised to her about Valentine's night - in a way that left her feeling that he really didn't understand how much it meant to her ... but he did understand, Gunjan, he did ... if you'd seen him during the time you were unconscious and battling for your life, if you'd seen his tears, his anguish, his terror of losing you, if you'd seen his breakdown when your ECG went flat - then you would have none of these doubts today.

The good thing is that all through the creatives have kept the Sam-Dia friendship intact - down to Dia recognising Samrat's feelings for Gunjan way back when she was herself involved with RV. This is one relationship they haven't messed with and I hope they don't do so now. So I really hope that either Sam makes sure Dia is kept out of this, and that she doesn't get hurt, or better still - he involves her, as she also knows about Gunjan's self-esteem problem and they work together.

The rest of the episode - AS discussing their love story compared to MN - romantic comedy! and SG - intense M&B (intense and MB don't really go together, but intense is definitely Sajan) - Uday wondering about something, MN usual nautanki - Mayank back to sadu grounded self, Nupur with hangover and one-liners - bhagwan, mujhe utha le - upar nahi, bistar tak ...

Canteen - Samrat thinking aloud and everyone laughing at his monologue - he is so lost in planning! Plans with mayank - M finally thinking about budget?! Resort trip - where Samrat doesn't want to let Gunjan out of his sight ... am going straight to dreamland with that one! Hope the recovery phase takes really, REALLY LONG!!!

Mayank convinces Gunjan for the trip, Samrat convinces Nupur. Do these guys have so many college holidays? Didn't college just re-open after the whole JD fiasco?
Promo - whole gang coming :(

  1. OMG I soo wanted to read this .. :))

ur story is making me feel soo sad diya !!! shit, and THIS is reality man ... this happens for real, sajan hav to get together in the end, but this is what real ppl go thru and real emotions :(( how badly and brutally tht girl wud hav been hurt .. because she really cannot blame him to even if she wants to as she herself had made him realise that fact! SHIT .. I cannot even BEGIN to imagine what it must hav bee like for her ..

anyways, coming back to sam-dia .. ur analysis is making me feel scary and insensitive for loving and hoping such a track :P !! but diya .. DIA knows abt sam-gunjan and their feelings for each other, she wil never fall prey to such a planning by gunjan, so how can she get hurt in this process? I really dont understand .. :( or mayb I m wrong and dia stil has feelings for him? :( but I dont think so, or else they wud hav never brought up this track or atleast sumwhere mentioned her feelings for him .. I think its jus an illusion that gunjan thinks is reality, because she wants to drive him away and she knows tht he wil b better wit dia because she THINKS they both had feelings sometime ( dia stil does apparently ) which tho is true acc to me, its something tht can never resurface because it was jus a very weak infatuation and their friendship has taken care of it! and gunjan isnt forcing dia upon sam..she jus wishes tht their friendship blossoms into love, like it happened wit her and sam and only coz she doesnt kno tht for sam, its HER and nobody else, his life begins and ends wit her jus like HERS does .. I really dont think, sam has been able to convince her completely that SHE is the only one for him .. or are her own insecurities are blinding her from SEEING this truth?

I think this track wil take care of it all .. keeping fingers crossed as usual .. hope its nothing too serious wit sam plus dia .. :( it wil b disappointing for me then! :(

abt the promo, I watched it .. LMAO, since I watch all the epis on YT, for me..its as good as an independent track for SG .. :P because the rest of the scenes I wil ommit anyways! :P

  2. hey mads,
I was thinking about this story since a few days ... helps me understand Gunjan, because although i have seen disability, it's usually mental handicap, and those kids don't understand what's happening to them, so the burden is on the parents. here, Gunjan is thinking about all this and I was wondering how she should react. And yes, her own insecurities are coming up again - she never felt good enough for him, and even more so now ... what I found very poignant, and I wonder if the CV's meant to show it that way, was that her Holi flashbacks on Wednesday were all of her running, jumping, dancing in the water ... all on her feet ... and she remembered, and sooo much has changed ... she can no longer do all that ... run from him, dance with him ... shit, it was really poignant.
Anyway, I really want Dia to be involved and in the know - NO chance of any misunderstandings then ... misunderstandings are the speciality of MN ... SG always understand each other completely ... And that's what's giving me hope here - that Sam understands exactly what Gunjan is thinking regarding Dia, so he won't let Dia get hurt either.
What i wouldn't mind is another angry Sam scene where he ticks off Gunjan for even thinking this way ... and tells her - you, or no one else. You don't want me any more - fine, but YOU find someone else, only then will I look at someone else. Or something like that - so that sh realises his love - and THAT'S what finally motivates her to try to walk. The fact that she has to do it for HIM, because he's not going to give up on her ever.

Okay, will post this on IF too - I liked this!!! :)
