Tuesday 11th February
A raw wound, never allowed to heal, picked at repeatedly, probed, gouged, till it bursts open again and again, letting the poisoned pus flow out ... but there is always more poison buried deep inside, more poison to be gouged and pierced ... the wound scraped raw again and again, the poison flow unending ...
So has it been with Rudra ... never allowed to forget that one incident which shaped his life thereafter ... neither by his father or his malicious kaaki ...
Today Paro got a hint of the skeletons buried deep inside the Ranawat family closet ... and more than a hint of the pain they cause Rudra ... a pain she felt in the way his grasp tightened painfully on her own wrist at the first mention of his mother ... a pain she saw in his eyes before he shuttered them and told her to leave the room ... the family skeletons were not for her, for he and she knew that she was not family. And a pain she saw in his eyes again as he bent over the reminder of that time, and a reminder of the only hint of gentleness, softness, kindness in his life from that time ... an old, forgotten doll.
A revelation today ... Chachasa is in touch with Rudra's mother, but doesn't know why she left.
An investigation under way ... into Paro's antecedents ... lodged by Mohini kaaki-sa. Agent - Sumer. He's more dangerous than Samrat, but fortunately he doesn't feel the pressing need for investigation, the sale of the haveli is more important. So his search will be half-hearted at best ... hopefully.
Paro almost gives away part of her background in answering Sunehri and Maithili ... how can she help it? Every bit of her is shaped by the people in her life.
And again, the PaRud interactions were the most beautiful part of the episode ... the silent communication through the eyes ... these two might hate and distrust each other, but their eyes are already finding ways to convey messages their tongues don't need.
Edit more tomorrow if I have time ... had guests for dinner.

Dia, the episode was good and Ashish was just fab.
ReplyDeleteHowever, today for the first time a little worry has cropped up in my mind regarding the show and specifically Paro. I did not want to write about this in IF, so putting it down here. I feel the writers are pushing Paro's pain a bit into the background by not focusing on her thoughts and feelings. I am not asking for more dialogues but Paro could have some quiet moments where she thinking of her mamisa, Thakurayan, Bhindi, her village, she must be missing them, some sense of loss, after all she lost her dreams. She decided to face Rudra bravely but emotionally she is still hurting. All this talk of marriage, engagement must be painful, considering all she ever wanted was a family of her own.
Rudra's pain has context, coming back to haveli and surrounded by family members, especially Mohini, his angst is visible. Additionally he has confrontations with Dilsher, Danveer and Mohini. As Paro does not have this and fewer dialogues, the writers should focus more on her thoughts when she is alone, so that audience can connect with her loss too. Right now she is becoming more and more of a foil for Rudra's outburst and they have switched off her Birpur button.
What are your thoughts Dia? For me you have a good handle on Paro's character, so you can give me perspective on this. Can't help but worry that GH and co. will again mess up the FL in such a good show where Sanaya has great scope.

Uma,
DeleteI have to admit, that thought does keep cropping up in my mind too. The first couple of weeks, the writers focussed on both sides of the story well, Rudra as well as Paro's pain and angst. Ever since they have come to the haveli, Paro's character seems to have been pushed into the background, in terms of her feelings and her thoughts.
But on the other hand, Paro's emotions were at centre stage all through the shootout and after that ... the scene when she turns the gun on Rudra and on herself was brilliant, and Rudra had not much to do at that time.
So I hope the writers are keeping this in mind and will focus on both the characters in turn. Right now, with the return to the haveli and Masala kaaki in full flow, it is Rudra's turn.
Paro is not thinking about Birpur right now ... her only thought is survival and bringing Rudra to his knees. She wants nothing to do with Rudra, as evidenced by her extreme reluctance to even take him a cup of tea to keep up pretenses. The only time she smiled and let down her guard enough to even say a few words, was when she echoed Thakurain's words to reassure Sunehri ... and then she clammed up when she realised she had said something she shouldn't have said. After that, she had no time for retrospection as Rudra entered and she knew it was him ... so right now he is dominating her thoughts.
Rudra had said that she should continue to hate him, as it is her hate for him that will keep her alive, not her love for her people. I think that is what the writers are trying to show ... that Rudra, and her wish to bring him to his knees and prove herself innocent, is dominating her thoughts completely, to such an extent that her sorrow is pushed to the background ... and that is what is keeping her going. If she allowed herself to think of Birpur, she would curl up into a ball and cry .. she cannot afford to think of Birpur at all, because those thoughts make her weak. But I do wish the writers would put in a scene like that, to tell the audience that yes, she is broken inside, as broken as Rudra is ... but stronger than him, because she can push those thoughts away and deal with what is happening with her in her current situation instead.
With the doll already emerging, there are two possibilities ... either the cv's just wanted to show us another glimpse of the very vulnerable Rudra ... the ever-present taunts in his life, and the only thing which has given him comfort all these years ... or the reveal of the doll is going to come up, either to Paro or to Rudra. If to Paro, then it will soften her to Rudra ... if to Rudra, it will soften him to an even greater extent, because that doll has been his only solace all these years, and knowing that Paro is that little girl, will make a sea change in his attitude to her.
I don't think GH is at the helm here ... at least, I'm hoping he is not. I hope that the director, Sidhharth Sengupta and the writer Raghuvir Shekhawat are the two who have maximum input ...and they will make sure Paro is strong, because they know that a good strong female lead is essential for any show. GH is not bad, except when he tries to do comedy ... here Paro's character has absolutely no scope for comedy at all, so I am a little more relaxed.
So in short, I think it is Rudra's turn right now, hence the writers are focusing on him more. And it is Paro's turn to realise that she might be wrong about him, hence his insults and breakdowns all happen in her presence. She will emerge the strong one very soon. I think one of the latest videos show him trying to convince her about her sister ... I didn't watch it because I want to watch the scene in the episode first ... but it does seem that Paro is slowly getting to know she might be wrong about the Thakur.
DeleteThe other thing they have shown is that despite their anger and hatred, Paro and Rudra have excellent communication with each other. They understand each others' gestures ... when she brought the tea for him, she gestured with her eyes why she did so, when he stopped her from picking up his shoes, he gave a very definite shake of his head, that 'no, you don't need to do this'. She knew when he entered the house that it was him ...
So the writers are building up that element of mutual understanding between Rudra and Paro already ... I'm waiting to see where they take it.
Also this is a passionate love story ... it has not been mentioned anywhere in the official releases as a love hate story ... so I think the love might happen earlier than we think. Aond Othello an Desdemona never hated each other ever ... Othello loved Desdemona with a passion. And again Shiva never hated Parvati ... he did not want to marry again because he was sunk in memories of Sati ... then he put Parvati through multiple tests, which she passed every time ... and after that, he accepted her completely. So from all the stories on which Rangrasiya is based, Paro will not be at the receiving at of his hatred for too long. But he will not believe in love for a long time ... really wondering how they will take it. Will Paro fall in love with him first, after seeing him for the broken, vulnerable man he is ... and will she then become his strength?
I doubt Paro will stay in the background for too long ... Sanaya would not have taken this role if that was so. And neither would ST have waited for her to make the show ... the entire show was shelved because she wasn't available to do it ... and re-started only when she became available. He hasn't taken her because she is a popular face, he's taken her for her acting skills. If he thought her popularity would be enough to get trps, he already had the example of Chhanchhan in front of him to know, it wouldn't ... he took her because she had what he wanted in his Paro.
Again going back to DABH ... see Sandhya ... she has never shouted and screamed or made her point loudly, the other characters are all prominent ... but the show is all Sandhya's journey, each and every track is centred on her. Same with Veera, where Veera is the main focus, and BV, where it is all about Anandi's journey, but all the characters are well sketched out. Here since it is primarily a love story, each and every track will be centred on Rudra-Paro, the couple, but I doubt Paro will be short-changed.
That's what I'm keeping my fingers crossed for, anyway!
Dia!! Hope you had good time with your guests. Following your takes religiously. Uma liked you question and also Dia's answer. We have to wait how they are going to play out...This story has high potential for both the characters at present, Hopefully the writers will balance both PaRud. They are now focusing on Haveli. It's been a long time we get Thakur and others. I think this haveli track will change the equation of Parud a bit... He may not be just a Jallad or she may not be just a witness for either of them. Though we were introduced to other family members, it may not be the sole purpose for this track. I'm expecting a change in the pov from both ends.
ReplyDeleteThey need to bring the trp audience , so the focus is more on family drama now. We saw a glimpse of other possible tracks too. Like search for Paro(but it's from thakurain) Rudra's mother is touch with Chacha ( that was a surprise for me) , Aman Sunehri track will also be there it seems for adding lighthearted romance... Btw I'm missing thakur in action..Lets see what's in store.
side track..
