Sanaya - Welcome back

Shows happening ... and not

Too many links in the previous post already, so making a new one. Next week there will be a separate post on Welcome and separate post on other TV shows ...

TV celebs take up cooking challenge
Seems like none of the celebs knows how to cook. This is going to be fun! LOL

The first article on Sanaya in Welcome
Sanaya - I am a horrible cook
Tell us something new! Can look forward to Ram pulling her leg a lot - Sanaya is great friends with Ram's wife, Gautami and treats Ram like her big brother. He apparently teases her unmercifully ... will post links of some Ram-Sanaya segments soon - they are a riot together. After watching those, I'm looking forward to some major masti!

4 Lions' new show on Life OK is scrapped.
4 Lions' next on Life OK starring Sanaya Irani scrapped
TC is crazy ... first they report that Sanaya has been offered the show, then report an interview where she denies it categorically, and now report the show 'starring Sanaya Irani' has been scrapped. Whatever - obviously Sanaya was the focus of interest of the show, so all the articles on the show featured her prominently.
Am glad - I was hesitant both about the PH and the channel. Hope there are better things in store for her!

Lounge Preview -Welcome-Baazi-MehmaanNawaazi-Ki

Made me laugh and go aww at the same time ...
The hostess, Sanaya Irani, an ex-TV bahu, tells viewers she cannot cook but believes in being the best hostess. Yet she designs a menu without knowing that one of the guests will refuse to eat “kukurmutta” (that which thrives on dog pee), as he calls it, another is lactose intolerant, and the third won’t eat anything that contains alcohol.
Who classifies what as "living on dog pee?!"
Ans - mushrooms ... that has to be the weirdest colloquial term I've ever heard! And this was not Sanaya hosting, it was between the two guys. Ainvayi using her name ... just because she's the most well known of the lot!

Yet Irani is a good sport, an affable host who takes no offence when people make fun of her, who doesn’t get agitated even when a guest admonishes her for not having “dal, chawal or roti” on her menu. “I cooked what I like to eat,” she replies with a smile. She also tries to ease the tension between two of the guests.
Now that sounded very much like Sanaya!
Looking forward to the first episode ... am sure I will be all fired up in support of my sunshine girl! Especially since I'm not a good cook either!

*ed*- More on Welcome - teasers and press conference
Welcome Teaser 1
Welcome teaser 2  - like the red theme, and Sanaya's red suit. Nigar not happy at the 'kotha' remarks at all!
Welcome teaser 3 - love this one, Sanaya in simple green and yellow suit, looking like typical pretty Punjabi kudi! And typical reality show sob story and tears ... though I prefer that to the bitching and cat fights between Nigar and Ragini.

  1. Dia,

Yes. Looking forward to the sunshine girl. The promos look so dull, actually. I mean the one with Sanaya playing the hostess. Only Sanaya is looking bright. The others are not looking good. And Ram Kapoor was not even there in her segment. I really hope a good PH is doing the show. Life OK is not a channel I like. They have come with one disappointing show after the other. I think Mahadev is the only show that has done well, even that does not have a good picture quality.

Anyway, it is running for two months and she has finished her shoot in 6 days- a new set of celebrities come every week?

On her new show- Sometimes I wish Sanaya would play a grown- up Veera with two really good actors- one playing her brother and the other her lover. (I don't know how Veera can sustain interest unless they bring in a love interest- that is, if they plan to show the kids growing up.)

From what I understand, Veera will go on to study and fulfil her father's dream of starting an agricultural school in the village. That is Ranvi has promised that Veera will do what he may not be able to do. In that case, they will have to bring in some romance etc., else it will start looking like BV.

I want something better for Sanaya.

    1. What I read about Welcome - it will run for 8 weeks, 40 episodes. It's not a weekend show - it will run 5 days a week. Every week 5 new celebrities will take part, and will host dinner at their house by turns.

So yes, a new set of 5 celebrities every week.

Life OK is a very new channel - barely a year old. I think Welcome is probably the biggest reality show it has ever had - I don't even know if they have had a reality show before this - anyone knows?
I don't know why Star revamped it just to make it into yet another GEC - it's now no different from the rest, I find. Two shows have done well - Mahadev and Suabhagyavati Bhava - but in common with most popular shows on most channels, I can't sit through either of them :)))
Though the Shivaji on Mahadev is good, but the rest of the show is too Amar Chitra Katha-ish! Saubhagyavati was quite good actually - I just don't like the subject, found it too dark, so didn't watch it. But whatever glimpses I saw, the acting was decent, and it was well done, sets etc.
But earlier I used to watch quite a few shows on Star One - DMG, MJHT and with them I would browse Geet, RBO and a few others. Life Ok holds no interest - I hardly go there.

I also wonder how Veera will go and for how long they will keep the kids. I remember another show with kids - Aapki Antara, where they kept the kids for much longer than planned because they were so good. The show faltered once the kids grew up. I hope the same thing doesn't happen to Veera ... it has the potential to go on well for some time.
Sanaya as grown up Veera ... if she goes to the city to study, and comes back slightly modernised, and then works to improve the village and set up the Agricultural Institute, then it would be a good story and it might be good for her. Plus I like the characterization of Veera so far - very spunky, fire cracker kid, who doesn't let anyone get away with anything, as opposed to her much calmer, gentler older brother. If they maintain the characters when they grow up, then it would be a good character, with the added benefit of making her educated - so a really good mix of tradition and modern, added to the murky birth story and the complexes associated with that. That's why I said that Veera can go on for a long time if done well. And they have the makings of two love stories - of Ranvi and Veera, plus the bro-sis bond of course.

Otherwise another small town/village girl - too similar to Gunjan/Khushi. There has to be something different. The main reason I would like Sanaya to do grown up Veera, if she does it, is that the creative team is very strong.

  2. Happy New year everyone*hugs*

VERY very late I know, better late than never.

AD is very hectic so kaan pakdofying for the frequent absence.

    Hope everyone is doing good.

For the shows, Havent been watching MB, just reading updates and like Diya said so aptly, it is looking more and more like a bad movies of 80s.........sorry to say this but IPK even in its dull days was better than what is being shown in MB now.

Guessing now that VD is back, it will hopefully pick up, the essence of MB is RK as MB's characterization is very weak, so this mushy RK fails to hold my interest and dunno where it is headed so let us see.

Quick tour of IF, so BS got himself a PR.............ABOUT TIME!!!!!!!!! Could have himself and loads of others a lot of headache if he had gotten one earlier.

anyway caught an interview of his where he said he is open to TV too so long as hours are reasonable.

I kinda have to say here, VD took 2 full weeks off and since the PH canned his shots earlier, the audience did not feel his absence much, he was there in every epi from the updates, wish 4 Lions had managed the same.

Also have to say this this break does not seem to have done BS any good, I am still to see the healthy looking and sounding BS of the initial IPK days.

Am looking forward to San's show and waiting eagerly for the next project.

    1. Shwethuuu!!! *hugs* good to see you back ... hope AD settles down real soon and everything goes off fine! Godjee, please to listen up and sort things out for BG!

I was happy to hear that BS got himself a PR ... till I read somewhere that he has been with this PR agency since Sept 2012 ... Which means they were there all through the IPK ending fiasco ... does not inspire me with much confidence! God help him!

Sweths, VD took 2 weeks off, the time was specified, so was the reason, and so was the return date ... compared to that, BS's 4 weeks stretched to 6 the first time round, and t0 'indefinite break' the second time ... so I've stopped blaming the PH for mismanagement ... well, not entirely, but almost :) Can't run a love story without a lead ... not indefinitely! The lead girl in Parichay has apparently had a serious accident (in real life) so she's been in a bomb blast on screen to hide her face, and talks are on for replacement ... poor girl!

Stopped watching MB, just as I got Colors channel - what timing! But watching Na Bole Tum occasionally, and there are some good movies on Colors, so theek hai! I saw What's Up, Sid again yesterday - and enjoyed it all over again.

Waiting for Welcome tonight ... and for your bak bak after the show. Ragini and Nigar have a catfight, I believe :( ... that's why I normally don't like these reality shows!

    2. Thanks diya*Hugs*

waisay an actual conversation between Godjee and I:

I: (GLARING at godjee) - Why can't things be simple atleast once, why does everything have to be sooooooooo COMPLICATED, Grrrr.....

Godjee: (pointedly in a matter of fact tone): Well, I do make it very simple for you to make friends who despite your frequent disappearance still are there for you, wanna complaint about THAT?

I (Looking at Godjee, thoda sulking): Shut up Shwets, Godjee has a point, as alwasy!!!

I am not kidding about the convo folks, I do have them with godjee:)

Dia: If they knew he wanted to quit, rather than leaking info on IF,they could have worked a story either introduced a new character or replaced him and stood their ground. Too much leaks on their end did the damage frankly, anyhow it is a collective responsibility at the end of the day.

MB has two things which IPK lacked, Good budget and planning, rest are there but are not being utilized properly and the director suffers from too much of a IPK hangover and the DOP still does not know the best way to capture the actors's expressions.

  5. random thought, try not to throw something, after all it is your screen, he he...

BS from his PR it seems has said he is open to TV, the supposed life ok show getting scrapped, so is it just possible that there is ACTUALLY A possibility of them working together in a show, see between a concept getting approved and putting together a team usually takes somewhere between 3-4 months, unless you are a big PH who can assemble a behind the scene team in a flash, work with your core actors and hire actors as the show comes along.

    any thoughts on that?

    1. No please and thank you ... he also said if the concept is good and the work schedules are good ... so his problem with the long working hours still persists. I don't want another kidnapping track and overnight re-writing of tracks!

IPK was a once in a blue moon phenomenon ... if they come back together, everyone will keep comparing the old chemistry with the new. Besides, I would always be scared he would take off again if he got another movie offer, or if the work hours got too long. So he can come back on tv whenever he likes ... but not with Sanaya, not till he's sure he's going to stick around for more than a year.

Besides, after he dropped SP and went off, despite them trying so hard to retain him, I doubt they would take him back without a watertight contract this time ... and not so soon. I think he will take the entire year off to give his best shot to films, watch the response to the release of the first two, and then come back if he doesn't make it. Doesn't make sense otherwise, especially as he pretty much burnt his bridges with SP when he left.

      2. Commit to the show as long as it is on air
      3. And ya learn dancing/pr from her.
      4. Be clear as to what he wants to do.

Oh, SP will not work with him? Dunno have been out of the whole IPK thingy for so long, had a good walk down memory lane in the laughter thread today, grrrrrrrrr, IF will only let me post 5 posts per day though, grrrrrrrr
