Sanaya News

Sanaya News for the fortnight

Have been out, will update the other bits and pieces later. Not much news on the new show, speculation about the male lead continues, but general news seems to confirm it is Ashish Sharma.

Cute article

24th October
One TellyBuzz article ... finally!!! Not much news in it, all speculative, including whether or not Sanaya is in it ... but they seem to have confirmed that by putting her picture and hers alone on the article. So obviously she is confirmed, but its not been given out officially yet.
And the PH and channel seems to be keeping the name of the ML very tightly under wraps ... the two names mentioned here are the two who are surely NOT doing the show!

http://www.india-forums.com/tellybuzz/buzzin-hot/17313-rang-rasiya-title-of-saurabh-tiwari-new-show-on-colors.htm

What I like is that it is being presented as a Nautanki PH and Colors new show, not a Sanaya Irani show. The burden of expectation is not on Sanaya this time, but on the PH and channel to deliver. Which is as it should be ... Sony messed up things completely with Chhanchhan by putting the entire burden on Sanaya and forgetting about minor essentials like script and screenplay. Even so, the show was enjoyable as long as it lasted ... but am glad it didn't drag for too long with low TRPs ... Sanaya deserves a better show. Hope this one works for her ... *fingers crossed and touch wood*

On the heels of the TB article naming the show, comes another one, from TC this time, confirming the name and rubbishing the two MLs named in the TB article ... thank God.

Hope it's Ashish Sharma after all ... and hope it's announced soon. Don't want more speculation than can be helped.

Ashish Sharma and Nikkhil Chaddha in contention for the lead role opposite Sanaya in Saurabh Tewari's next on Colors

3 min ago | TellychakkarTeam
Producer Saurabh Tewari's next for Colors, post the success of Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon will be a Rajasthani love story to be shot on a grand scale. Tentatively titled Rang Rasiya, the show will have popular name Sanaya Irani as the lead.
The hunt for the guy to play Sanaya's love interest is yet on, though few known names have been in the reckoning for some time now.
Tellychakkar.com was the first to report Ashish Sharma being in talks for the lead role.
We now hear that the toss up now is between Ashish and Nikkhil Chaddha, who is presently seen in Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke.
A reliable source tells us that Ashish and Nikhhil are presently into final talks for the role. And in 2-3 days, the actor will be finalized and locked.
We tried contacting both Ashish and Nikhhil, but they remained unavailable for comment.
Our efforts to get in touch with Producer Saurabh Tewari proved futile.
Let's see which actor gets to play the guy opposite Sanaya

  1. Hi Diya, visiting this place after a long time though we do talk on IF. I saw your take on some jodi fans in a previous post. I can guess where it is coming from and why. Some of them are incorrigible, it is always about the male counterpart of the jodi for them. Infact some fans of both her popular jodis are insecure to see Sanaya get so much attention and a big offer after Chhanchhan. Like always I feel Sanaya is better off with few well wishers then this big online popularity which has become a double edged sword for her.

Coming to her new show waiting patiently for more news and confirmation. As of now Ashish seems to be locked to be the lead with Sanaya. I have not seen any of his show to know how he is but my only requirement is Sanaya gets a good actor and someone who looks the part he is playing as a male lead. With the support of good script and dialogues everything else will follow.

Keeping fingers crossed and hoping for the best for her show. BTW, TC needs to change their Tarot reader ;)

    1. Hey Uma, nice to see you back here. I've been out a lot the last few weeks, so haven't been updating this place regularly. Finally in my new apartment, with internet set up ... still waiting for the rest of my stuff, and not completely settled yet, so it was easier to pop in and out on IF.

I agree ... I was so pissed off with those jodi fans ... first Sarun, and now Monaya. For them, the male half of the jodi is the main focus, and both sets are insecure about Sanaya gaining so much popularity and recognition after Chhanchhan, which was actually a failure. Barun fans now have his movie to concentrate on ... thank God. Wish the other lot would also get something to focus on.
And I agree with you, Sanaya would be better off without the immense online popularity ... Chhanchhan would still be on air, for one, because it went off more because of the online pressures and negativity than ratings ... Amita Ka Amit is still on air with even lower ratings. I can't feel too bad about that, because CC was really meandering and losing its way, although the makers kept giving all the right messages. Pity ... with a better, tighter script, and a better characterization of Umaben, it could have been a really good show.

Sanaya seems to have gone underground, I think she must have taken off to the US finally, after completing the look tests and jodi tests for the new show. And she did say she wanted at least two months break, so I'm guessing she will be back only end November, just in time to start shooting for promos if the show is going to start airing end-Dec or early Jan. She might also appear on the Colors award show ... so we have to wait till early December to get a glimpse of her.
I'm actually very glad that Colors is being to tight-lipped, and there are absolutely no new rumors about the male lead. I didn't want another swayamvar at all ... whether they are still testing other people, or have locked in on Ashish, either way it's okay, as long as we don't get a long list of names, and then endless debates on who will look good and who won't. As long as he can act well, he will be okay ... Sanaya really does seem to extract the best out of her costars. When IPK was announced, Barun was a done deal ... quite a few of us who had followed Sanaya to IPK from MJHT were not happy at all, because he had made no waves in his earlier shows, and was not thought to be a great actor at all. And he rocked it in IPK. Of course expectations were far lower for both him and Sanaya ... even Sanaya fans like me were surprised at how beautifully she played Khushi ... such a complete opposite of her shy, quiet Gunjan. Now expectations are also high, both for the show and for the jodi ... and all said and done, Sarun as a jodi are a very difficult act to beat. But with a good tight script and solid characterization, it can be done.

TC's tarot leader :))) The only thing is, she did say that Sanaya will have an even higher standing after Chhanchhan ... that seems to have happened. I was discussing with a few people ... Sanaya never got her due during IPK, because the hysteria over Barun overshadowed her, but after IPK, and especially after the debacle of its ending, a lot of people in the industry seem to have recognised both her talent, her dedication and hard work ... especially her talent, all the IPK wannabe shows have shown up how poorly other actresses measure up to the original Khushi. No one else can do it the same way. So Sanaya has become even bigger after IPK ended than she was during it. *touch wood* Now really hoping the new show becomes an even bigger hit for her. With good scripting and characterization, she can do it ... fingers crossed.

    2. Your lips to God's ears...I am also fervently hoping her next show becomes a huge success (a successful show is the best answer to all her naysayers) and finally she gets the only thing missing in her kitty, acting awards. I also hope that this PH is able to give her a challenging role (within the limited space of daily show content) and utilize and bring to fore her talent.

Agree, finally the industry and media seems to have woken up to her immense contribution to the success of IPK and her talent. I feel Chhanchhan was a good decision by Sanaya, despite its failure, it brought her out of the shadows of IPK, gave her the distance she needed from IPK baggage (not of all which was good for her), she was gainfully employed much of this year, visible to audience because of her work, not for other reasons, had an opportunity to work with some talented actors, and even got appreciated for holding her own when doing scenes with someone of the calibre of Supriya Pathak.

Now, when she comes with her new show, I am not even thinking of Sarun or Arshi, I am ready to see her in a new avataar and love story. With a tight script, engaging story and a good actor as male lead another unique chemistry can be created. I am not participating too much in the swayamvar either because first, I do not know much about which TV actor is good or available etc. , and second I do not want to build any kind of expectations or preconceived notions, just waiting for PH to settle everything and give me a pleasant surprise. Anyway, for me good looks and online popularity of any actor is overshadowed by their acting talent, so if I get the latter I am a happy camper. Additionally, if the hero looks the part he is playing, that is enough.

I think you are right, we will next see or hear about Sanaya end of November or early December when the actual shooting might begin or first promo comes out. I really like and respect this aspect of Sanaya's that she let's her work speak louder instead of indulging in self promotion in media. Despite that we keep reading something about her in papers at regular intervals anyway.

    3. Cannot write this on other places without starting a fight, but felt very good reading the review of EBP on Bollywoodlife where they said that though the new hero is good, but heroine is not matching the talent or screen presence of Sanaya or Khushi. After all the put down that Sanaya and Khushi was put through it was a small compensation :)

    4. Hehe ... I loved that line too ... also, some of the biggest naysayers of Sanaya have been repeatedly saying they like Aastha, she is a sweet simple character, easy to understand ... and it just drives home the point that Sanaya brought in layers and depth to Khushi, which most other actresses are just not able to do. And I think the industry has woken up to this ... the multiple clones of Khushi in different languages and in EBP have actually reinforced that ... the comparison is instant. Khushi was the bright spark of IPKKND, and Sanaya brought the screen alive with her portrayal. No other actress has been able to do the same.
I recently saw a Bengali promo of IPKKND, a repeat of the first promo, down to the dialogues ... this makes it the fourth language IPK has been dubbed/remade in ... English, Telugu, Kannada and now Bengali. Star Plus is now realising what they let go off when they tried so hard to keep Barun and then shut down the show summarily and let go of Sanaya and the rest, just to put down one actor ... the show would have dipped, but might have recovered ... now Sanaya doesn't seem keen at all to return to SP after the way they treated her and the rest. And they have lost their first truly international star ... I heard the last few SPL's in the UK have not drawn anywhere near the kind of crowds that first Sanaya, and then Sanaya and Barun together drew. Sanaya was a fabulous spokesperson for their overseas market, none of their other actors have anywhere near that kind of appeal and stage presence and confidence.

Yes, Sanaya disappears in between projects ... she keeps her personal life personal, and doesn't court the media until she is ready with her next show. No personal tidbits and news items about her wardrobe, her shopping habits etc., etc, just to stay in the news. She keeps it all work related, she loves her work and will do what it takes when her show is ready to start ... but nothing in between.
Thankfully we got confirmation about her new show so early, otherwise this habit of hers would be driving us crazy by now ;) Just hope we get confirmation soon ... I think this TB article is the start ... over the next few weeks we will get news in trickles, first the two leads will be announced together ... then the rest of the cast, the gist of the story and finally the launch date ... that's if they follow the IPKKND route. Haven't followed any other show, but I think that's pretty much the norm with all. So I can't wait ... the news should start trickling in from November onwards ... probably Diwali and after :)))

  2. Posted the new TB article on Sanaya's new show .. Rang Rasiya ... nice name. Old fashioned and old worldly .. earthy, sensuous with a hint of passion ... goes with the glimpse of Sanaya we got in the very traditional clothes. Really wondering what it's going to be all about ...

What's with the two names mentioned as leads ... they seem to be the only two who are definitely NOT in the running :((( Barun is shooting for his movie, and I strongly doubt even if he was available, ST would take him, with his penchant for going 'brain dead' after a few months ... Mohit is simply not good enough an actor, nor does he have the manly kind of looks required for an intense love story. He still looks like a baccha.

  3. Updated with another article, from TC this time ... seems that Colors is keeping their eye on the feedback, the name has been well received, the two male leads were not, hence a swift end to the speculation.

Of the two, I hope it is Ashish. Keeping fingers crossed ... they should announce within the next few days.
