28/6 - Epi 17 ... Calm after the storm ... and before the next one

Somehow I enjoyed today's episode. The first scene was tense, when Khushi out of sheer stubbornness, and probably against her better judgement (if she had one!) goes ahead and signs the bloody minded contract. And somehow the way Arnav was challenging her was as though he knew that was the way to get her to sign the contract. He had already seen that she doesn't walk away from a fight ... and so far he has won every one. So he's confident he will win this one as well. But he wants the fight - wants the challenge, welcomes it, even relishes the thought.

But after that, the scenes were more like a recovery after the tension of the previous day.
Akash Payal scene - filler, sweet gentle bland ... kk, next please :-) they will never make the best jodi awards, but they're pleasant enough, and useful to relieve the tension of the KA scenes!
And Arnav not ready or willing to talk about Khushi to Lavanya ... or indeed anyone else, including Anjali. But thinking about her ... ah, that has started for sure.

Enjoyed the sisters' scenes, both when Khushi returns home and her tension shows on her face as she realises what exactly she has let herself in for ... another scene of foodie Khushi chomping away her fears and worries (besides which the poor girl hadn't eaten anything the whole day!) and Payal giving her comfort both for body and soul. Loved the way Khushi tried to hide her fears, but the hug between the sisters was so sweet, when Khushi clutched onto Payal, even while claiming that everything was okay.
Payal is a really sweet older sister ... don't know if she will ever have the courage to speak up for Khushi in public against anyone, but in private, she is always there for Khushi. And Khushi is the one who can be bold and outspoken in front of others, and she refuels her strength in private from Payal.
So Khushi shows Payal the contract, and Payal is shocked at the huge mess Khushi has got herself into.

Arnav's house, naani doing jasoosi, some random Kashyap lady in her 40's, and misunderstandings ... again filler. And Akaash already fallen for Payal ... love story taken off at supersonic speed!

Second sisters scene ... Payal worried sick about Khushi, Khushi says this will pass, we'll go back to Lucknow and you'll get married ...
Anjali tells Arnav he doesn't want to marry Lavanya ... he doesn't deny it. So Anjali knows that Lavanya might be his girlfriend for the moment, but she's not THE one for him. And sweet romantic Anjali starts telling him about what will happen when he really meets the girl of his dreams, the on who is THE one ... Arnav listens tolerantly, a slight smile on his face ...
Loved the freeze ... Arnav smiling, Khushi looking dreamy ...

*edit* I did mention above, but just realised again, probably his encounters with Khushi, first the car and now the one in the office are about the only things Arnav has not told Anjali.
(And maybe the fashion show disaster - Anjali found out about that only from the media.) Otherwise he seems to tell her each and every detail of his life, including the sprinkler incident. Is that because in his mind he knows he hasn't behaved right with Khushi both times, and doesn't want to admit to his mistake in front of his adored sister? Or is it because Khushi is bothering him more than he cares to admit, as are the words she spoke every time, the unafraid way she challenged him every time? So he doesn't want to remember them, or rather, wants to pretend to himself that Khushi and what she said doesn't matter to him at all.

  1. Hey D, agree with you, the epi felt as if it was intended to be a recovery from the day before. Like you rightly said, felt like the calm at the eye of a storm. Lots brewing up.. thanks to this contract! But Mister ASR better watch out...he is not going to win me over with a freeze framed baby faced cute smile!...Oh no, he is NOT! Hmph! ;p ....LOL ...think my BP is down a few notches! But really, the CVs need to do something about the loudness of some of the supporting characters...all these high pitched dramatics are soooo dated!! Come on CVs you can do better!;-)

BALH - oh gosh this Priya's mata shri needs to get her eyes checked out! Really don't want to see these confusions...just want them to get to the main point ASAP! lol ;-)

Gosh, reading the above, I surprise myself...never knew I was soooo impatient! lol;-)

  2. Lolz, P, ASR really got into your bad books yesterday!

Yep, the supporting characters need to tone down a LOT - they give the whole show a very amateurish feel. At the moment, I am still watching just for Sanaya, and even with her, I hope her character tones down a bit more, although thankfully, the rank silliness seems to have gone.

I read an interview with Daljeet (Anjali) where she says that Anjali and Khushi represent (or are supposed to represent) two faces of the new Indian woman - Anjali as the young, bubbly, modern woman, yet still keeping Indian traditions alive - well, OMG, does that mean doing pooja 24/7 and keeping ridiculous fasts every second day? Although I must admit I love the teasing relationship she has with both her brothers, that is so real and sweet for me :)

And Khushi is supposed to be the young Indian girl who faces challenges every day in her life and overcomes them ... well, I guess, in a way they ARE showing that, because unlike other telly heroines, Khushi doesn't sit in a corner and cry or wait for the hero to come and rescue her ... in fact, she's rescuing herself from the hero as of now ;) So let's see how it goes ... but there is a contrast definitely between IPK and the other shows on SP, the PH definitely needs some growth in terms of quality.

BALH - Again, still watching only for Priya and Ram, the rest of the characters are degenrating into standard Ekta types and I can see the show going completely the Dhadkan way ... but if the Ram-Priya love story is as well crafted as the promos were, it should still be worth a watch!

You know, I've never really watched any show from the start, except for two notable exceptions, Saans and Astitva - both hooked me from the very first day ... but after that, this is the first time I'm actually watching from the beginning - two shows, that too! I think that's why, like you, I'm getting impatient too - arey bhai, get to the point! I want the intense love story in IPK to start ASAP, and the married life of RP - although I have less expectations of the latter ;-)

  3. lol...agree with all that you have said D! Shall try to refrain from making too many negative comments about IPK (ooopps!...that's excusing the long comment I just wrote on your other post! ;p)... as my sis rightly pointed out recently... that for a self proclaimed positive thinking person...I have started to moan an awful lot these days! roflol! :D ...so from now on I will have to force myself to find the positive in the negative!! lol ...ASR just got lucky! lol ;-)

I a very very vague recollection of Saans....with Neena Gupta?!!. I think my mum watched it and I saw a few mins here and there in passing only...but I do remember Astitva...I used to watch it with my mum all the time! That was a great show!
