Sexy actresses

Saw a post on the forum about Karan Wahi ranking sexy actresses on the Indian tv screen ;) Must say, the choices the poor guy was given were fairly pathetic, consisting of most of the saas-bahu types on the screen, including Hina, Ankita and even Ragini - hey, I like the girl, but even her most ardent fans wouldn't be able to call her sexy - her Meethi Chhoori segment proved that!

Anyway, so got me thinking - are there any sexy actresses on Indian telly today? Apart from Sanaya, of course - she makes my list with awesome ease!

So my version of that list, probably colored a lot by the fact that I don't like overtly sexy, HAWT stuff, there has to be a mix of innocence and sexiness which really gets the scene sizzling. Which is why Sanaya makes this list with ease, and jumps straight to the top.

So Sanaya on number one - porcelain perfect peaches and cream complexion, a figure to die for, hazel eyes that are amazingly expressive, and a sweetness and innocence and sparkle in her face that lights up the screen, making her a complete scene stealer. She doesn't have perfect features, but her eyes are beautiful, and her smile is simply stunning. added to which, she looks gorgeous in whatever she wears, her simple Gunjan outfits, or her usual offscreen Western ones. She has an amazing dress sense, simple, chic and very elegant, and can look smashing in almost all colors under the sun - I really can't think of ANYONE else who could have looked so stunning in grey.

Shilpa Anand - I don't care for her as an actress much, but sexy she is. Although it was Armaan that attracted me to DMG, SA as Ridz had much to do with their chemistry. Again not perfect features, but there is some sweetness in her face, and she can look sexy in the simplest salwar kameez.

Rakshandha Khan - getting more actresses in this list was surprisingly difficult, till I remembered Meethi Chhoori, which had brought together some of the best ones! And Rakshandha again makes this list - she has grace, elegance, and a poise and confidence which would be intimidating to most men except the very confident ones.

Karishma Tanna is the next, again from Meethi Chhoori - haven't seen either of these actresses in their usual saas-bahu roles, which is probably why I can see them as sexy!

Sangeeta Ghosh - doesn't act much now, but in her day she was sexy - remembering her from her scenes with Varun Badola in DMNHC, and from her other show with 4 sisters - very pretty, and her sensuous scenes were good.

Can't think of any more!

Inder and Panna again

Am feeling rather pleased with myself that I caught the potential of the Panna track virtually from the day it started off. Again more good scenes ... Panna with her father-in-law, and then Inder letting loose about his worries for his sister and her tyrant MiL - the guy has beena complete clown till now, and this turnaround is most unexpected and most welcome! His anger, barely controlled, at the dining table, was amazing ... the fury and the sheer helpless anguish about his sister's plight - very well done, nothing OTT, controlled and so much more effective because of that.
And for once Suhana's inanities actually came as a relief to break the tense atmosphere and bring smiles to everyone's faces - much needed! The dining table scene was nice - all four were good.
And the last bit - Disha's principal getting married, leading Suhana to wonder about her father ... SGP seems to be picking up. If only Suhana would stop breaking plates!

Sanaya not ready for marriage

Caught echoes of my own self in Sanaya's words in her latest article - she's in no hurry for marriage yet, wants to concentrate on her career. Familiar words, familiar sentiments ... what's the hurry? Marriage is for life, but for a girl, establishing her career really needs to be done before marriage, because much more than for a guy, life changes after marriage for a girl and her time gets divided. If she wants to concentrate on career, it has to be done before marriage - at least the foundation.

And am so glad to see that she's waiting for a strong and pivotal character ... really want to see her as exactly that. Gunjan was the weakest character in the show, the most cliched and stereotyped, and it was basically Sanaya's portrayal that allowed the cv's to develop Gunjan's character the way they did. Especially at the end of Season One and definitely in the first two months of season Two. So it would be wonderful if Sanaya gets a strong character like that to play again ... if she could turn a character like Gunjan on her head and develop her so beautifully, yet keeping her inherent strengths and basic values intact, I can't wait to see what she will do with a good, strong role.

Just WAITING now to see Sanaya on screen again!!!! Can any PH make a good, sensible decent show?

Marriage will have to wait - Sanaya Irani

SGP - Panna Inder

After ages, a scene on TV touched me enough to tear up - the Panna with family scene today in SGP. Especially the Inder-Panna parts - such a beautiful elder brother-younger sister scene, where Inder is so upset about his sister's marriage problems and Panna tries to be brave, yet finds so much solace in the comfort her big brother offers. Truly, having an older brother is an incomparable blessing - I thank God that I'm similarly blessed. Their scene brought back memories of my own childhood - the squabbles, the daily fights and constant teasing and the very real, very solid love that is the bedrock of this relationship. Thank God for older brothers - there's no one quite like them. The comfort and protection that one feels with an older brother is just incomparable - it's an unquestioned bond that can never break.

And again, the strenght of SGP is that the supporting cast is so good - the show is worth watching only for them. Ishaan is looking weaker and weaker as the main lead, but it doesn't really matter at all, because the other stories now hold sway. Inder-Panna were beautiful tonight, and the family scenes were lovely.

On the other hand, the second marriage bit is completely OTT and avoidable. Am waiting for the Sanjana-Deepak track to start - that will be far more interesting.

Monaya Valentine offerings

Two short and sweet segments on Monaya, both parts of old segments, yet unaired ... apparently Monaya are much in demand, so we're still getting segments on them, even if just unaired parts of old interviews ... SBB apparently feels a steady trickle of Monaya is required

On 12th Feb, a repeat of the Gr8 photoshoot dinner date, with some more of Monaya gazing into each others' eyes ... that sure was the most romantic date they'd been on in a while, and they were simply lost in each other ... to hell with the cameras!

And on 13th Feb, a repeat of Mohit proposing to Sanaya on the sets of MJHT in her wedding dress ... with Arjun a very interested onlooker ... obviously planned by Mohit and AB. After which AB said he was very happy for them, especially because Sanaya was his FRIEND ... ok, now he said that loud and clear ... can all the Ratzians finally accept that the trio are actually good friends? Instead of going on about how AB has never actually said that MS are his friends and they just take his name for publicity ... I never quite got that one, actually. MS take AB's name to give themselves more publicity? So do they really think that people would comb through all Monaya articles frantically to find a mention of their heartthrob AB? Awww, such wonderful fans they are ... a bit delusional, but oh well ...

AB has a tip for Mohit ... handle with care, Sanaya is a tough nut to handle! She sure is ... a girl as gorgeous and outgoing as her hasn't had a single boyfriend before Mohit with the entire unit running after her ... shows she's picky in the extreme. And she doesn't seem to believe in flirting and casual affairs ... once she commits, it will be for good. Mohit is a lucky guy ... to get a girl who looks like any guy's ultimate fantasy on the outside, but a simple family-minded girl on the inside - those are rare as they come.

Touch wood - lovely love story ... as they say, truth is stranger than fiction, and Monaya's love story exemplifies that. Reel to real ... and how! Samrat Gunjan's love always seemed way beyond a simple love story, always seemed like a match made in heaven, two halves of a whole coming together ... hope and pray Monaya's story stays the same way too.

Ah and on Valentine's day, SBS starts its special V day program with a clip of Khuda Jaane moments of Samrat Gunjan ... fitting! The start of a beautiful love story ... with the most beautiful basis of all - friendship.

Gr8 Feb 2011 and a TB article - between the two they summarise Monaya's journey from new aquaintances to a slow friendship, getting closer and then finally falling in love, or rather acknowledging that the friendship had become something much more. A journey which took over a year in the show, which we thought was long enough, but in real life it took even longer, almost two years. Mohit told Sanaya the three magic words only at the end of Season One ... that was a surprise, as we had all assumed they were going steady way before that. so had most of the unit and Arjun also apparently ... another echo of the SaJan story when almost everyone in college knew that Samrat and Gunjan were together - except for Samrat and Gunjan themselves.

Hmm, I need to watch the S1 scenes with a new eye now ... knowing that MS were NOT together ... but it was probably those unspoken feelings that gave such a sizzle to their onscreen romance, probably an outlet for what they were really feeling but had not yet expressed ... and it showed in their onscreen moments.

More messages - from Dolly, Pragya, Mohit talks about starting his blog ... Sanaya says she never fell for Mohit because he was good looking or cute, but because as a person, he is wonderful ... Mohit promptly says, so I'm not cute, and Sanaya protests immediately, no, you're cute ... and that was so sweet - he was teasing her that she never fell for his looks, so she doesn't find him goodlooking, and poor girl had to clarify immediately that she did, but it was the inner person she fell for ...
Rest of the interview is mostly Monaya listening to and reading their messages.

Mohit says that I don't think I deserve so much praise ... he mentions that fans saw and recognized his hard work, acknowledges that yes, he did work hard, but adds (and this part I really liked him for) ... but whatever I am today, a lot of credit goes to Sanaya, she helped at a time when I was new, I didn't know anything about lighting, angles ...
Sanaya, embarrassed butts in, shut up, just say you're an awesome actor, but again Mohit says, that I can't say, that's for you fans to decide ...
Sanaya adds that we're not perfect, but you all have said so many nice things about us, and it's amazing how much of what you've written is true, it feels like we're listening to friends ... Mohit and Sanaya, don't you realise that your words are analysed literally threadbare by your fans ;)
Another cute part ... San looks at herself as Paro, and says, OMG I couldn't recognise myself, I said who's this TV soap actress :D

Part two of the Monaya iv

Aditi asks to see a repeat of Mohit asking Sanaya out for the first time, Mohit says, one time I asked and she agreed, if I ask again, she might turn me down, not taking the risk! Sanaya adds that he never really asked her out in the first place! But they don't let on about how they actually started ...

Sanaya is obsessed with clothes and shopping ... and with something else, adds Mohit, and whispers it to her, she agrees, but they're not letting it out.
Compatibility test again - they know everything about each other for sure! :D

Mohit sings - Dil ko tumse pyaar hua - cute! He has a sweet voice! And Sanaya tries, and starts laughing as usual.

Talk about pranks, although Sanaya says Mohit is the bigger prankster, they can't remember anything much! Sanaya grumbles that everyone on the sets used to tease her with fake cockroaches and rats ...
Then comes the story of Monaya and the mouse :D :D :D Mohit used to tease her earlier, but not since they started going out together. And Sanaya describes how she got locked into the room with a mouse on her bed, both jumping away ... and Mohit broke the door down because she was screaming so much!

Rest of the iv mostly had Monaya watching the dvd sent for them.
Mohit's desktop pic is an absolutely gorgeous pic of Sanaya which he took - he says it's the best pic of Sanaya ever, and looking at it even in the fuzzy video of the iv, I have to agree. It's a stunning pic of a simply stunning girl.
