Sanaya is hosting and performing in the Star Plus Diwali celebrations ... Dandiya nights, on Star Plus from 1st Oct 7 pm. Hopefully she will be there the whole week ... something to look forward to. She is looking gorgeous ... and her outfit is beautiful!!!

Sanaya Irani joins Jay Bhanushali and Kiku Sharda as host for Star Plus' Dandiya Nights

MUMBAI: Star Plus is gearing up for a star-studded Navratri special event called Dandiya Nights. The theme of the event will be 'Garba with a twist', wherein different styles will be combined with Garba such as Retro Garba, Salsa Garba, and Disco Garba.

We reported about Aly Goni, Adaa Khan, Helly Shah, Kushal Tandon, Rithvik Dhanjani, Surbhi Jyoti, and Ravi Dubey being roped in to perform at this event.

The latest we hear is that Jay Bhanushali, Sanaya Irani, and Kiku Sharda will be hosting the show together.  Sanaya is certain to make us go weak in the knees with her drop-dead gorgeous looks. She will be seen wearing a maroon and gold outfit. Her accessories and make-up will complete her look.

Meanwhile, a lot of entertainment and laughter is in store for the audiences, as the ace comedian Kiku Sharda will tickle our funny bones.

Can't believe Rabba Ve ... the original IPKKND is at no. 2 on the rural charts! That show  is still going strong almost 6 years after going off air and after two clones tried to replicate its success and failed ...the second replica,  quite miserably! 

Also nice to see that Sanaya is back on Star Plus for their annual Diwali celebrations (next post with pics). And apparently she also shot some promo for KZK2 as Khushi. So SP finally waking up to the fact that Khushi, and Sanaya, were also greatly responsible for the success of IPK,and it wasn't just Barun ... or Gul ... or the combo of Gul and Barun ... as those two would have fondly loved to believe if it wasn't for the debacle of FakeIPK3. 

Back to the rest of the TRPs ... Big Boss is back and takes Colors to the top spot ... what is it about that ridiculous show that fascinates the world?! Debuts at no 6 ... KBC and Indian Idol at 10 and 11 keep Sony strong, just missing no 2 spot by a whisker. SP seems to be getting back its fiction lineup mojo ... has quite a few shows in the top 10 now ... I don't watch a single one of them! Colors weekend lineup doing well for them ... their fiction lineup is faltering compared to earlier. Silsila and Bepanaah, the two shows with well known actors, are doing the worst ... both out of the top 20 ... though BP is doing reasonably well online. 

MMCJ fell to 0.5 from 0.7 last week ... if it stays at this level, and the pair catch on online, there might be some hope for it. 

Tried KZK2 ... so LOUD!!!!! Parth is surprisingly decent ... never watched him in anything earlier, so had no expectations ... his character is apparently very nice, and he did well in the ten minutes I watched. Erica is as bad as I expected ... worse, because she can't do the chirpy bubbly girl, and is falling flat trying! Her diction and her dialogue delivery is terrible. And why do all the female characters have such LOUD bright red makeup!!! And wear jewelry like they robbed ten jewelry shops and are wearing everything they stole?! Hopefully only for the Puja celebrations and they will tone it down soon. The other actors are typical Ekta ... all very much in-your-face stereotyped one dimensional characters, with equally stereotyped acting. 

Main Maayke Chali Jaaungi

New show ... Main Maayke Chali Jaaungi ... start has been decent ... let's see how it continues. Interesting premise ...  cute, everyday couple ... his mom believes that marriages are forever, but they have to be worked at ... and the new bride has to do the major work. Her mom is a divorcee, a divorce lawyer, and has overseen the divorces of both her older daughters. She believes that in a marriage, both partners have equal responsibility to make it work, and if things don't work out, it's better to break things off than continue in a bad marriage and spoil one's whole life.

Interesting premise ... both mums are shown to be very loving mothers ... both even have a grudging respect for each other in their first few meetings ... both acknowledge their thinking is very different ... and they really don't want to be related to each other at all! Satya devi has not lost all respect for the institution of marriage, and is  happy that her youngest daughter has found a nice boy ... she gives consent for the wedding almost instantly. Boy's mum Rama devi is shown to be the most understanding wonderful lady who encourages her son to propose to a girl he likes ... even though he has known her barely a few days! I did raise my eyebrows at that one ... why encourage him to propose right away? Why not encourage him to meet her a few times first? Get to know her better? Not according to Indian sanskriti?

My fear is that Satya Devi, the girl's mother (Bhabho from DABH in a completely different avatar ... she really is a very attractive lady) with her modern thinking, will become the villain of the piece, and be shown trying to instigate her daughter to not make any adjustments at all, even the minor ones which happen in every new relationship. And Rama Devi will be the wonderful understanding MIL, who encourages her son to make all the adjustments required. Hope they make these two characters grey, and not pure black or white ... then the show will be more interesting. Not holding out any major hopes though ... Sony shows do have interesting new concepts, but when they don't get TRPs, they get warped or pulled off far too quickly.

Neelu Vaghela, Bhabho of her earlier avatar, has got an interesting role ... and is playing it well ... underplaying a lot ... calm, serious but very affectionate ...  such a difference from her loud crass Bhabho!
