Happy Birthday, Sanaya!

Happy Birthday, Sanaya!

This year has been quite good for Sanaya fans ... we got to see her in two short films, and she got major critical acclaim for one, Dum Dum Dumroo ... we saw her in a lovely music video Main Jaandiyan ... and finally a 13 episode web series, Zindabaad. All roles very different from each other ... cherry on cake was her action role as a RAW agent in Zindabaad ... though I loved the music video equally, the picturization and the chemistry was beautiful, as was the song. Sanaya seems to be well and truly back in work mode ... which is so good to see. She is too talented an actress to waste away in happy housewife mode ... though I hope that happiness lasts, but in the background of her work!

As for TV, it is a pity she can't find anything she would like to do ... she did find 2-3 shows in the last three years, it's unfortunate that none of them took off ... but the fact that she is looking, is very reassuring. Not that surprising that she can't find much ... Indian TV is fairly unwatchable these days. Can only wait and hope that she finds something again ... and that Indian TV improves. For the first time in quite a while, I find myself watching nothing at all in the fiction space, so I'm not really surprised that Sanaya isn't getting anything interesting. Indian TV does need a change ... it's such a pity that good shows, experimental  shows, like POW and RKC to  name recent examples, don't get the audience they deserve, and we are stuck  with the likes of KKB, YHM, the never-endingYRKKH, and the Dayans and Naagins. I really hope some more experimental sparks come along, and Sanaya finds a place in one of them.

In the meantime,  wishing Sanaya a very happy birthday, and a wonderful, fruitful, and work-filled (that last is selfish!) year ahead!

New interview for Zindabaad

My quest is to never get typecast: Sanaya Irani

Updated Sep 15, 2018 | 21:00 IST | PTI
Sanaya Irani charmed the audience with her girl-next-door parts in shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum and now she will be seen playing the role of a RAW agent in web series Zindabaad.

Mumbai: Sanaya Irani believes that while working in the TV industry, there are chances that an actor might get typecast and that is why she is very particular about her choices. "TV is a different world. I am what I am today is because of TV. There are pros and cons, you are acting everyday, the recognition, fame you get is huge. If the TV show does well then it does continue for two or four years or more and you are playing the same thing everyday.
"As an actor I want to experiment and the web is a nice medium. I love my work whether on TV or web. It is important to pick up something that you like," Sanaya told PTI.  Sanaya charmed the audience with her girl-next-door parts in shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum and now she will be seen playing the role of a RAW agent in web series Zindabaad. "In TV you tend to get to typecast but I have tried to do something different as well. Every actor does not want to do just one kind of a role.

And this web series was totally different. The show is action oriented and I have few sequences. My body was aching but it was a nice experience. This was new to me, so I was excited," she said.
Sanaya said though she always do things that are necessary for her character, but insists that comfortability is a major factor.
"As an actor, I want to do things that I am comfortable doing it. If you are doing something on the web doesn't mean you unnecessarily abuse or remove clothes. Everything should be organic."
The web series, which also feature Vikram Bhatt, will be available on VB on the web and Jio Cinema.

No comments - pretty similar to the other interviews, looks like all taken from the same conversation. Again glad that she acknowledges TV ... but it doesn't look like she is getting any offers that interest her as of now. Not surprising ... TV these days has become unwatchable for the most part. Hoping she gets some more interesting web shows ... a 10 -  15 episode show is good enough for now, till she finds something interesting in the daily show format. Hopefully someone will make a decent limited episodes TV show where she can find a good role.
