Sanaya News ... and Random stuff

Sanaya news first ... barely been eight days since her wedding, and we get news about her return on SP, with a continuation of IPK for 25-30 episodes. However, this is news from IF,  who are not very reliable at all.
SBS also reported that Sanaya is doing a new show with Barun ... no talk about finite or one month ... that seems more believable. If at all this is true, and Barun is signed on for 25-30 episodes, I hope it is just the prelude to a leap, ASR and Khushi can die leaving behind a baby daughter, and we can have a new show with Sanaya as lead with a new ML. Barun can float in and out in flashbacks ... that will restrict his working hours on TV to what he finds manageable, and he can leave any time he signs a new movie. Everyone happy!!!

New show on Star Plus Tamanna, about a woman cricketer ... watched the first two episodes, and liked it. The ML is Vishal Gandhi, who played Paro's first husband in Rangrasiya, he is a good actor, if not spectacular. This may be another DABH, but the actress is definitely better than Sandhya beendni, although she looks a bit older than the ML, and seems to be trying to ape Khushi to some extent. But she is sweet and acts quite well ... and I'm always game to try a show which shows a woman following her dreams. The baa, played by Ketaki Dave is good ... nice to see her not negative for once!

Watched Airlift last weekend ... nice movie. They didn't give much time and space to the Indian side, the negotiations, which allowed India to use Jordan airspace to evacuate the Indians, nor the negotiations with Saddam when he allowed Indians to leave ... they concentrated more on the heroism of the protagonist in Kuwait, and mentioned at the end, that he was based on two real life heroes, who organised the evacuation of over 170,000 Indians from Kuwait.

Watched Dilwale over the holidays ... usual Rohit Shetty senseless brainless movie, randomly based on Hum and a mishmash of a couple of other movies ... watched it ONLY for SRK-Kajol, and enjoyed their scenes regardless of the story, or lack of it. And of course, the beautifully shot 'Gerua' in Iceland.

Also watched Bajirao Mastaani... again typical Sanjay Leela Bhansali, long on spectacular visuals and amazing cinematography, great music, with classical base ... and short on actual emotions. You know a love story has gone wrong when your audience is rooting for the wronged wife, rather than either of the two lovers. Ranveer Singh was brilliant as Bajirao, Deepika was good as Mastaani, but Priyanka stole the show as Kashibai. Worth seeing on the big screen for the amazing visuals of the war scenes, the fort scenes and the beautiful palaces of Bajirao, Mastaani and everyone else.

Haha..exactly my thoughts after coming out of bajirao mastani.. also, ranveer-priyanka had much better chemistry than ranveer-deepika in my opinion. And Deepika only LOOKED mastani-thats it.

I honestly hope Sanaya comes back in a new show and something more of yhe Chanchan type than rang rasiya type.. dying to see her in a modern avtaar! :))

    1. Lol ... yep, I liked the ranveer-priyanka chemistry too, but most of all, I felt Priyanka nailed the wronged wife, who held her dignity intact. The way she told bajirao 'aapne toh hamara guroor hi chheen liya ...' her acting was awesome in that scene.

Me too ... I want to see Sanaya in a more modern role ... I want a hard nosed businesswoman with grey shades ... but doubt India TRP junta is ready for that yet!

    2. How about Indian 'sensible' adaption of The Good Wife with Sanz.

  2. Dia,
How are you able to put in words exactly what I thought! I do not like Priyanka Chopra normally but I loved her performance in this movie, couldn't relate to the theme of the movie at all. The depth of Ranveer-Deepika aka Bajirao-Mastani's love was not shown at all. Priyanka's character was well-etched though.

Please continue your Kaisey Yeh Rishtey, waiting to read your update.

    1. SS,
Yes exactly!!! The love story had such a shallow feel ... almost felt that Mastaani threw herself at Bajirao, he had no choice but to accept her. SLB is great at the visual splendour and his music is always good, but his stories lack emotional depth. The last one I feel he did well was Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Will try to update more regularly now :)

    2. Thanks Dia, it was a wonderful read. More mystery on Khushi's side of the family! Arnav's family is an open book in your story! it was definitely worth the wait! I love it how you have content unlike other fictions that only have fluff :-) - SS

Exactly dia. I never liked priyanka Chopra but she impressed me big time as kashibai. And I couldn't feel for the so called love story as the entire storyline seemed to be rooting for kashibai.

Had some expectations from deepika but I felt she was too glassy and the unwanted intruder in the peshwai, btw rao and kashibai.
And history says kashibai adopted shamsher as her own but did they show that in the movie or imply it through any dialogue? ?

    1. I'd never heard the bajirao Mastaani story before the movie, but my uncle, who knew about it, says that Kashibai adopted Shamsher as her son. But they didn't really show that in the movie. They showed him being taken away from Mastaani in the prison ... but didn't say what happened to him. I thought he was killed, but apparently not.

I loved Deepika in both Tamasha and Piku ... but she wasn't so impressive here. Priyanka, despite having the smaller role, was much better acting-wise and managed to get all the audience sympathy.
