So apparently feedback has gone to Hotstar about the complete idiocy of this jashn ... imagine celebrating an epic love story without the heroine ... so whom exactly is the hero romancing? Himself?! Or HP?!
Whoever came up with this script for the Jashn should shoot himself in the head ... or in the hand, so that he/she doesn't do any more writing for some time. Unless this was their intention ... to effectively kill Arnav Singh Raizada once and for all, and give a complete closure to the show ... after all, it was supposed to end with his death ... or rather, his part was to end with his death, and the show was to go on. In which case, they have achieved their purpose. ASR is definitely dead and gone. RIP, Arnav bitwa.
Saw both episodes in ffwd mode ... again not much to write or review ... again lazy writing, as Arnav actually mocked Khushi's suicide attempt, and the despair that led her to take that step ... even the flashbacks were boring today. The Holi one was cute. Arnav still can't say 'I love you'? He needs to be kidnapped to say it? Wish they had shown some of Khushi and Mami sleuthing ... those were cute scenes.
A good actor is a good actor, regardless of show, regardless of director. Utkarshaji proved it when she reprised Mamiji today ... despite doing a number of other roles since IPKKND, and despite being in another show currently, she did her homework and put up a very creditable act of Mamiji. Barun was Barun. That bhaang making bit made me cringe ... blame it all on the shoddy writing! Seems that the writers have put no thought at all into these reunion episodes ... and Barun is useless as narrator ... he cannot summon any enthusiasm or expression in his voice ... at best, he sounds faintly amused most of the time.
And HS seems to be in damage control mode ... after the outcry on Twitter of yet another Khushi-less episode, they put up the next one very quickly today itself, which finally had Khushi in the precap. So let's hope Saturday is better.
One small glimpse of Sanaya and her smile is enough to light up the screen.

Mamiji was a delight! It was so nice to see Utkarshaji again and she has not lost her magic at all! But what's wrong with Barun. Can't believe this is the guy that played ASR so well that he created history. He seems totally distracted ... lol on your anchor comment about Barun, Dia :-). He has successfully ruined ASR for us ... this has been nothing but glimpses of Barun Sobti and not a very good one at that.

Agree with both of you. Glad Mamiji was there to give us a break from the monologues and flashbacks. Uttkarshaji reprised the role quite well. Really getting bored of this Barunified ASR, if it is even ASR. Why did he choose to do this RU if he was going to do it in such a disinterested way? Never will be able to figure out what exactly is Barun's problem with IPK, the show which made him a star. The very poor writing is not helping either. Arnav could have learnt to chill a little over the years but him making light of Khushi's suicide attempt, hate marriage etc. is just not in character and neither for Anjali. He still has no clue of Khushi's equation with Mamiji, the list just goes on.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing this Jashan has proven conclusively is that without Khushi/Sanaya this show lacks spunk. Glad she will be there on Saturday and about time. The clamor for her from fans and viewers is getting louder by the day. Let's hope next two episodes will give us more to cheer about.

I am just afraid that they will restrict Khushi to the last episode because what they play in the precap is the last scene in the next episode, so far that is what they have shown .. hmmm

Hey, girls, sorry for being MIA ... am leaving for my winter break in two days, so have been caught up! Not inspired t write much on Jashan at all ... maybe once Khushi enters, the spark might come back to the show, and I will write more. But I doubt she will be there for the next episode ... probably just the last one.

Just saw episode 7 with a small part of Khushi. What are the writers up to ....?ASR has become wimp and Khushi is becoming a shrew...I know I am mad at the character assassination of Khushi who was so gentle and forgiving..what do the others feel?And I feel even worse that Sanaya is being made to do this being a fan of Sanaya.

Sanaya did this for the love of the show and the character. I think she has been busy in other things as well, so she obviously had less time for this, yet she did it just for the love of the show ... and hopefully for her own closure on it.
Bad writing has been the hallmark of this jashn. First and foremost, getting Barun to be the narrator was a bad idea ... the guy mumbles and is absolutely unintelligible in most of his dialogues. In hindsight, I think that's why he worked as ASR, he had such few dialogues!!!
Khushi was always a spitfire with Arnav ... she was gentle and forgiving with the rest of the family, but with Arnav she always gave as good as she got ... so after watching the episode, I feel her writing has been okay ... not as bad as Arnav. The writers needed an excuse for an Arshi fight, and they used this ... Khushi not actually leaving for her maika, but just using it to give Arnav a fright, was in character for me ... or maybe Sanaya's acting just made it seem so.
Sanaya was pretty and looking every bit Mrs. ASR but like Dia and others have mentioned here so many times, the makers of Jashn know nothing about the original show. Khushi knew that the flower given to her on her birthday was from ASR and she did tell him also when they went to get Mama's blessings just before wedding. Here they made ASR say it to her as if she did know about it at all. This Jashn is to attract only Barun's fans to HotStar who clearly doesn't care about or remember the character he played before. He just came and mouthed the dialogues that were given to him, Sanaya is atleast trying a little bit better than he is, although I can understand if she had no motivation to do this after the way the original show ended. She was the one who bore the brunt of the whole drama.

Don't talk about the writing, SS ... it has been ludicrous!!! GH and co obviously have forgotten all their character and their own episodes ... and they didn't bother to do their homework and check on the scenes they were writing about! Completely lazy writing ... shoddy and pathetic!!!
DeleteI don't know who this Jashn is aimed for, or what the target audience is ... it has been a complete washout. If it's for BS fans to see him on screen, because the guy has been out of sight for three years ... and they're happy with his less than mediocre acting, then good for them! Can understand them to some extent ... watching Sanaya act even for those 2-3 minutes was sheer pleasure for me ... and we have been watching her act over the last three years pretty regularly.
All I hope is that this gives Sanaya closure for IPK ... she bore the brunt of it, she was among those most upset by its closure ... and this jashn has proved conclusively that IPK was nothing without Khushi.
