Am going on a rant ... all stalkers, especially BS fans ... can stay away!
What crap are they dishing out in the name of a reunion? No Sanaya/Khushi for three episodes out of the eight, a wishy washy watered down Arnav Singh Raizada ... first episode I called him a tame pussycat ... in the third episode, he seems to have become a mouse! So he's going by train to Lucknow because Khushi is scared of flying ... in 3 years, haven't they gone anywhere by plane? And Khushi was the most intrepid one in trying out new adventures ... darti hai par karti hai was her motto in life ... she was ready to fly to London when he was kidnapped ... this was ridiculous ... just to show that Arnav has become such a good husband ... or that Khushi's word is law even on stupid matters.
Khushi breaking a coconut for the new car, and tying Devi Maiyya ki chunni on the rear view mirror was at least believable ... very much so!
The Akash Arnav scene was rubbish ... badly written, badly directed and badly acted ... both men were hanging uncomfortably somewhere between their real selves and their characters ... trying to be their characters, and failing miserably, because their real life relationship is obviously very different from the much more formal one Akash and Arnav share. Arnav asking Akash if Payal's baby bump is showing yet, when she's eight months pregnant, was such a crappy piece of writing ... how many months has it been since Arnav saw Payal?!
And the Arnav-Mami flashback was frankly boring ... I wanted to ffwd it. Absence of Khushi robs the episodes and scenes of all their spark.
The only part worth a watch was the Payash flashback, their confession engineered by Arnav and Khushi ... at least we saw the original characters there. And that scene was funny ... I had enjoyed it a lot in the show ... and hadn't really watched it again much ... was good to do a rewind review of this one.
And if Arnav is asking Di to talk about family planing and babies to Khushi, it's going to slip from ridiculous to absurd.
Daljeet was looking sweet though ... looking forward to seeing her in the next episode. Looks like Sanaya was too busy to give this RU much time ... but the men can't hold the show together even for three short episodes ... Sanaya held it together for three months!!!
Not giving a detailed update because I watched this once, and it holds no repeat value whatsoever.
In other news ... Sanaya and Mohit probably getting married in Jan 2016 ... :)
All the news portals are abuzz with the news, it sounds like it's true this time. It's good timing for both of them ... Sanaya is on a break, but is very much in demand and is at the peak of her career, so she can afford to take the break and come back in a few months. Mohit finally has a steady job with a show that's doing well for the slot it's in. I feel that's what they were waiting for ... for his career to stabilise ... that's something I remember from one of San's earliest interviews after they started going out together.
So wish them all the best, and hope Mohit always keeps Sanaya as happy as he has been doing the last few years. Otherwise he is in trouble ... San fans will skin him alive!!!
And of course, hope to hear news of Sanaya's comeback soon in a rocking new show. Preferably hope we get the news before the wedding, or just after ... and hope we get some pics of Sanaya ... she will make a beautiful bride!

ReplyDeleteI am really not understanding this mini serial. I thought this was about Arnav and Khushi in their married life after 3 years. Not about Barun reviving his failed career, and not doing it particularly well. He seems to have lost his edge which he had before. Where is Sanaya. She is needed to put the little series back on track. Hope they don't keep us waiting for a few more episodes. Loved your write up Dia. You tell the story from a different angle making it much more interesting. Thank you

Lin, you are right, that is what this looks like, revive Barun ' s career that never took off. Without Khushi and Sanaya looks like Arnav is nothing. Kudos to you Sanaya for such splendid performances in the show and you Dia for your amazing updates!

Lin and SS, I agree completely with both of you. This looks like a tester for Barun ... rumor is he was offered something on Star, but it seems to me they decided to test him out with this web mini series before taking him back on ... and he is majorly lacking in all respects.
DeleteI saw a short byte from Utkarshaji , where she said she was worried about getting back into character, so she practiced in front of the mirror ... Sanaya was also worried about the same thing, so she also took some time to rehearse ... but it looks like neither Barun nor Akshay were bothered ... they just changed their clothes, strolled onto the sets and recited their lines. Lazy actors ... I am not surprised at all that their careers are where they are, and Sanaya and Utkarshaji ... not to mention Anjali, Deepali, Abhaji, Garimaji ... and the other senior actors are where they are. Hats off to the team ... this mini series has shown up exactly who was responsible for the success of the show ... and it sure as heck wasn't one person.
All I want is that this mini series gives Sanaya the closure for the show ... in her offscreen segment about the show closing, she still sounded sad and upset when she talked about how the show was pulled off at four days' notice. So I hope this gives her closure too ... and she can move ahead without the shadow of IPK hanging over her. I don't expect any more than that from this jashn ... except one last scene of Khushi as the happy Mrs. Raizada, polished, confident, but still retaining some of her craziness. Then we look forward to some wedding pics if we're lucky, and news of her return in a new show in the New Year.
Latest news - date of the wedding is 24-25 January 2016. Wish Sanaya and Mohit all the best ... am sure as the date comes closer, we will wish them many more times. :)

Just caught up on your Kaise Yeh Rishtey. You mentioned that it was a story you wrote a long time ago and were now re-writing with Arnav and Khushi as the main characters, but you can so imagine Khushi in this character. She is the same lively character that she was in IPK. As always love your writing. You should think about publishing, you are so good.
BTW did you catch Jashn on Saturday. God what are we being subjected to. They did choose some good scenes to reminisce and some cute expressions by both Arnav and Anjali but seriously I am not connecting with this mini-series at all. It looks like an answer to all the fan fictions by the so called teen IPK/Barun fans. I can so understand why you don't feel like updating at all.

Deleteyes, saw episode 4 ... I liked the flashbacks ... but hey, I can watch the original scenes any time I like, so what's the big deal about this whole jashn? Really bordering on the ridiculous now!
I did like the Anjali Arnav interaction ... it's really true that an actor feeds off another actor ... Barun was so bad in the Akash Arnav scene ... both actore were bad, but Akshay is a very mediocre actor, and Barun was as bad as he was. Daljeet is a better actress, and Barun was better with her ... though again, the essence of ASR is gone completely. That wink and thumbs up to the audience when he tells Anjali that yes, Khushi was looking 'not bad' ... it was so completely out of character, I cringed. Next episode will be Mami ... Khushi will enter only in the last couple of episodes, I guess. I had a busy weekend ... will update today, but in brief ... there is really nothing much to add, when the bulk of the episode was the flashback scenes ... which I quite enjoyed ... they were some of the best Arshi scenes ... New Year, Diwali, Teri Meri
But I did not like Anjali joking about the hate marriage and how Khushi did not talk to Devi Maiyya for so long after ... that was a tense period in all their lives. Arnav and Anjali should both feel guilty about the hate marriage, the reason for it, and how he treated Khushi after that for no fault of hers, not joke and laugh it off.
