Two sets of ratings this week, since last week's ratings were delayed because of Diwali holidays.
And Zee's reign at the top was very short, SP comes back! So does Colors.

Colors is back ... Sony's KBC falls, but Indian Idol comes back ... after being out of top 20 last week, it's back in top ten. Really wonder how reliable these ratings are!!! 

And Kasautii is completely out ... that's a shocker for SP and Ekta!

Rabba Ve continutes to be in the top 3 in rural areas ... for a very metro/urban flavoured show, that's quite something! No wonder SP is repeating the IPKKND maha movie this week on Star Utsav. SP's top shows are the SPA, Kulfi, Yeh rishta, Dance plus and the two supernatural shows ... Daayan and Qayamat ... and the top show continues to be Naagin ... what on earth is happening to Indian viewers' tastes??!!!  

In Sanaya news, she has started shoot for Ghost. And we still don't have news of any other cast members. Am not holding out much hope for this movie at all!

Very corporate polished look ... for a Ghost story? I begin to get intrigued ...

And then we have another new look for Sanaya ... posted by herself ... with an ode to the beginning of a new journey ... equally polished suave look ... and I am finally developing an interest in Ghost. No haunted house, wailing ghosts, locked doors 'aayega aanewala' kind of story here (like I'm seeing in the new new show promos on Colors ... yuck!!!) ... this actually seems different.

Zee is on top this week ... maybe because of Zee Rishtey Awards.

KBC climbs to no. 7 ... Kids special this week, and the questions for kids are quite tough ... especially when kids are all between 11 and 13 years of age.

Indian Idol is out of top 20 ... surprising!!! My favourite Soumya is eliminated ... why do classical singers never win any of the singing shows?! Disappointed!

YHM is finally out of top 20 ... hope that show winds up now. It's also not doing well online, unlike IB ... which is why I feel IB will continue, and YHM may end. Online ratings finally having a bearing on show longevity.

Watched Main Maayke after a few days gap ... I think makers were veering towards saas bahu show with wicked buaji ... but wiser sense prevailed, they wound up the buaji track quickly, and made it a lighter show. But now the next suspense ... when will the contract truth be out? In the meantime, the confusion about the dress was cute and funny and light hearted.

Top half of the top 10 pretty much the same ... the 3 KKBs doing well, as is Naagin and YRKKH ... really dunno what it is about these shows ... except for a few scenes of Kulfi, I have not watched, or managed to sit through any of the others. Even YRK, which was very decent for a long time, is now feeling stretched like stale chewing gum ... it got a new lease of life by bringing in a new generation, and the new jodi became very popular ... but really wonder how long the makers will stretch this. It will soon overtake KSBKBT at this rate!!!
ISB back in top 5 ... maybe I should re-visit it and see what's happening. Not while KBC lasts though ... my weekday evenings are now totally taken up by KBC, and weekends by Indian Idol ... so glad to see both in the top 10, though only just.

The lower half of the top twenty ... again not watched much ... Krishna Chali London comes right after KBC, so have caught a few minutes of that while changing channels ... unremarkable. Acting of the FL is actually better than acting of Erica ... not saying much, because almost any FL on TV is better than Erica with her expressionless eyes and wooden dialogue delivery. Having said that, Erica has improved slightly, but her face is very hard, there is no softness in it all all. Compared to the original Prerna ... yes,  I actually watched a couple of scenes of the original, thanks to Hotstar ... she is bad.
Thanks again to Hotstar, have caught up with Kasauti 2 ... the guy, Parth, is surprisingly good ... how I wish there was a better actress opposite him.
Hina is grossly miscast from what little I've seen ... and her costume is definitely wrong choice. I never watched KZK the original, but even I remember Urvashi from various stills and scenes here and there, and she oozed oomph and glamour. Really have no idea why they've made Hina dress like a cross between a banjaran and a village girl ... but spouting perfect English! Somebody has gone very wrong somewhere!!!
Rest of the Basu females are all typical Ekta ... loud, crass, overdressed to show their wealth ... the entire show looks overdone. TRPs seem to have picked up since last week ... so maybe it will survive. EK and SP must be disappointed though ... after the huge promotions, these ratings are not really good.

I used to admire SP for not going the supernatural way and trying out new different concepts ... am so disappointed to see them give up and join the bhed chaal. Qayamat, Nazar ... and both those shows managing to stay in top 20 ... really don't know what's happening to Indian audience tastes!

Oh well ... Netflix and other web platforms zindabad!






Unbelievable! Rabba Ve, the original IPKKND, is still at no. 3 in the rural charts! And is at a very respectable no. 14 in the combined urban + rural charts.
Am guessing after the disastrous flop IPKKND3, SP decided to end the franchise, and re-name the original!

Sanaya's movie Ghost to shoot in London

Posted by someone from the make up team of Badnaam, Krishna Bhatt's movie, being shot in London.

So San's movie will also be shot in London ... and guessing from Riddhi's post, where she said she would miss San, looks like San will be in London for some time for the shoot. At the moment, she is very much on holiday, so will wait for her to start shooting ... hopefully will get some nice insta stories when she does.

Badhaai Ho

Watched Badhaai Ho ... simple, cute movie, a really fun watch. Ayushman was excellent, so was Neena Gupta, though I felt she had less to do than the other senior actors. The stars of the movie were the actor who plays the dad, and Surekha Sikri as the Dadi ... she had the best one-liners! The actress playing Ayushman's love interest was just okay ... the dance at the end was totally unnecessary as she is a completely ungraceful dancer, and her outfit was atrocious! The lady playing her mom was good. The two sister's in-law of Neena Gupta were TV actors, well known ones - one was Alka Kaushal, Varun Badola's sister ... both were good in their roles. The kid who played Ayushman's brother was decent.
Movie itself was a cute commentary on the hypocrisy of Indian society, done with dollops of humour, but the actual issue was not really addressed in any great depth. I loved the ending, the best scene was the hospital scene when the baby girl is born, and both much(!) older brothers instantly falling in love with their baby sister, the dadi with her poti, and the dad with his daughter ... I can just imagine both older brothers being fiercely protective bade bhaiyyas as the baby sister grows up ... would be fun to watch a sequel on that theme!

Star Plus firmly on top ... Sony doing well on the strength of KBC and Indian Idol ... no wonder they have gotten Kapil back again, they will need him once these two end. 

SP shows doing quite well ... they must be disappointed with KZK2 ... it hasn't reached top ten yet. But early days yet ... 

Meanwhile YRKKH is back with a major bang, Kulfi is doing well ... I caught up with Kulfi after getting Hotstar, and it is quite watchable now, though the kids still overact too much. Watching KZK2 off and on too ... Erica is still bad, Parth is surprisingly decent ... but the jodi doesn't click for me yet. 

Silsila and Bepanaah both out of top 20. 

Rabba Ve is at 3 in rural charts ... and 6 overall ... that show really was something else!!! Sanaya will struggle to find something that does even half as well. Thankfully Barun seems to have given up on tv after the debacle of AdvaySR. 

Big Boss is struggling this year ... nowhere near the top in ratings. Colors shows are overall down ... except for Naagin again, and Shakti, which has been a lambi race ka ghoda ... still doing well! 

I haven't tuned in to Zee for ages ... no idea about the shows. Lost interest in Ishq Subhan Allah long time back ... and cannot stand even a minute of the two KKBs ...
