BARC India Ratings: IGT8 sees good opening; Bigg Boss falls off the charts
MUMBAI: It's BARC time! TellyChakkar brings to you this week's ratings of your favourite shows and channels. Star Plus is at the first position in the urban sector, followed by Sony Entertainment Television and Zee TV. Zee Anmol, Star Utsav, and Sony Pal have the maximum viewership in the rural sector.

Top half of the top 10 pretty much the same ... the 3 KKBs doing well, as is Naagin and YRKKH ... really dunno what it is about these shows ... except for a few scenes of Kulfi, I have not watched, or managed to sit through any of the others. Even YRK, which was very decent for a long time, is now feeling stretched like stale chewing gum ... it got a new lease of life by bringing in a new generation, and the new jodi became very popular ... but really wonder how long the makers will stretch this. It will soon overtake KSBKBT at this rate!!!
ISB back in top 5 ... maybe I should re-visit it and see what's happening. Not while KBC lasts though ... my weekday evenings are now totally taken up by KBC, and weekends by Indian Idol ... so glad to see both in the top 10, though only just.
The lower half of the top twenty ... again not watched much ... Krishna Chali London comes right after KBC, so have caught a few minutes of that while changing channels ... unremarkable. Acting of the FL is actually better than acting of Erica ... not saying much, because almost any FL on TV is better than Erica with her expressionless eyes and wooden dialogue delivery. Having said that, Erica has improved slightly, but her face is very hard, there is no softness in it all all. Compared to the original Prerna ... yes, I actually watched a couple of scenes of the original, thanks to Hotstar ... she is bad.
Thanks again to Hotstar, have caught up with Kasauti 2 ... the guy, Parth, is surprisingly good ... how I wish there was a better actress opposite him.
Hina is grossly miscast from what little I've seen ... and her costume is definitely wrong choice. I never watched KZK the original, but even I remember Urvashi from various stills and scenes here and there, and she oozed oomph and glamour. Really have no idea why they've made Hina dress like a cross between a banjaran and a village girl ... but spouting perfect English! Somebody has gone very wrong somewhere!!!
Rest of the Basu females are all typical Ekta ... loud, crass, overdressed to show their wealth ... the entire show looks overdone. TRPs seem to have picked up since last week ... so maybe it will survive. EK and SP must be disappointed though ... after the huge promotions, these ratings are not really good.
I used to admire SP for not going the supernatural way and trying out new different concepts ... am so disappointed to see them give up and join the bhed chaal. Qayamat, Nazar ... and both those shows managing to stay in top 20 ... really don't know what's happening to Indian audience tastes!
Oh well ... Netflix and other web platforms zindabad!
Unbelievable! Rabba Ve, the original IPKKND, is still at no. 3 in the rural charts! And is at a very respectable no. 14 in the combined urban + rural charts.
Am guessing after the disastrous flop IPKKND3, SP decided to end the franchise, and re-name the original!
