BARC Rankings - 10th January 2019

And just like that we are already into the second week of the year! So here goes with the ratings, as published by TC.

BARC Ratings: Super Dancer & Kapil's show gets a bumper opening; BB12 ends on a high note, Naagin 3 drops drastically

• MUMBAI: 2019's first BARC ratings have witnessed major changes!

Star Plus continues to shine at the first spot and Sony TV is maintaining its second position followed by Colors.

In rural areas, Zee Anmol, Star Utsav and Sony Pal are the most viewed channels.

Talking about TV shows, there are major changes in terms of rankings.

Star Screen Awards has received the maximum ratings. Newly launched shows The Kapil Sharma Show and Super Dancer have got a bumper opening by taking the second and third position respectively. Interestingly, Bigg Boss 12 finale is in the top 5 while Naagin 3 is pushed to the 7th rank.

Kumkum Bhayga, Ramayan and Mahek are the top most viewed shows in the rural areas.

IB and YHM crashing ... have to check last week's ratings to see how they are doing, but looks like their days are numbered. Also heard that the FL in IB will be replaced, as she is apparently very bad ... a new one will come in and the current one will turn negative. Gul never learns! Her ego is far bigger than her brain ... she just hates giving any credit to her FLs.

BB made it to top five in its grand finale, otherwise this season was a damp squib. And suprise, surprise ... Naagin crashed this week ... against the combined onslaught of Kapil, Super Dancer and Star Screen Awards. Shakti seems to be the only show keeping the daily lineup any where near respectable ... Colors' shows are struggling hugely.

Sony weekend doing very well ... Indian Idol and KBC supplanted by Kapil Sharma in his second innings, and Super Dancer. Am glad for Kapil ... the guy let fame and fortune go totally to his head, paid the price, but has got a second chance. Hope he doesn't mess it up ... he is probably one of the most loved artistes on TV, and is popular across a huge range of the TV viewing public. Just hope he stays more stable this time around. 

Also glad to see Sony daily shows doing reasonably well. The three I don't watch ... Sai, Ganesh and Chandragupta Maurya, all above 1, which is brilliant for Sony. I do catch the tail end of CGM before MMCJ, and have to say it is a very well done, show, and the acting is top notch. MMCJ, PB and LS all doing well, PB actually hit 1 as well ... good going! YUDKBH has been doing well for a long time, and continues the same way. Am happy ... this means Sony will keep these shows going and won't rush to pull them off.

One of these days I have to watch an episode of Radhakrishn ... have to see what's there about this show that has made it do so well.

Sanaya has wrapped her Ghost shoot, and has apparently gone to Chicago for a holiday with her siblings. Good for her ... am sure she will busy when she gets back to Mumbai, with the remainder of Ghost (if any) to shoot, then Zindabaad 2 and the Gul web show, in whichever order. Also, can't help hoping ... she also does some narration for IPKKND rewind. Again ... maybe not ... if she has moved on to new projects, and doesn't have the time. Barun definitely seems to have more than enough time on his hands ... despite the fact that Asura shoot is also ongoing ... he doesn't seem to have much work there. Not surprising ... if Arshad Warsi is the main character, he will take over the show completely! So Barun has enough time to do daily narration for the show that left him brain dead, and that he preferred to sell milk rather than continue doing ... looks like his words will never stop biting him back! Can't help laughing at the irony!
