TV Shows this week

Ek Duje Ke Vaaste ... I was musing after the Friday episode, that although it was an emotional decision, Suman was smart to give Shravan her mother's jewels ... if she had pawned or sold them to give him the money, they would have been lost forever. Shravan knew what they meant to her ... so either he would have kept them safe (which is what I thought he would do) ... or he would have returned them, which is what he did. What I did not expect .. he returned them with the pithy remark that Suman knew he knew what they meant to her, so she had been smart to give them to him, knowing he would not keep them. Lol ... Shravan seems to be on the same wavelength as me!
Shravan was also smart enough to break the engagement very promptly ... and in full public view. Not a nice thing to do, to humiliate his chachi as well as Urvashi and her family ... but he simply didn't care. He has got the full measure of his chachi, and of Urvashi as well.
On the surface Shravan at first seemed well adjusted and calm ... but as the show goes on, his layers are being revealed ... the deep seated distrust of 'selfish women' that his mother leaving has left him with, and the deep bitterness inside, which he hides under a smiling exterior. Pushkar is the only one who is starting to see the layers. Suman's betrayal seems the tip of the iceberg, or the straw that broke the camel's back ... have to see which one it was.
Suman is happy that his engagement broke ... but doesn't seem to introspect why.
Namik is definitely improving in his acting. The girl (need to check her name) is still okay-ish only.

Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke ... a cute birthday celebration at the Bose house. Cute fun episode.
The only interesting thing ... Dev doesn't tell his mother everything. Smarter than I thought ... I guess he knew his mom would not be happy that he was out celebrating while she waited for him ... so he made it all about doing some work.

  1. Which channels these shows are on Dia?

Anyway I am totally hooked on to Gangaa these days. Heard about the show in your blog only. I remember lot of you used to love the show. I chanced upon it recently while surfing and OMG is the show awesome or what?!!!

First the ensemble - Every single one of the actor bring their best to the show every single episode.

I started watching the show post leap so took me a while to figure out the whole plotline and characters.

The one thing I absolutely loved is no one suffers from being the mahaan perfect syndrome. Everyone has their flaws and the characters are as real as I have watched on TV in a long time.

The confrontation between the family and Sagar and Ganga when Sagar (technically marries Gangaa) was EPIC.

Ofcourse it is a love story so there has to be :

an evil girlfriend who never gets caught for her misdeeds and is considered perfect. She is now technically a biwi with supposedly court registered marriage minus Sindoor.

the adorable idiot hero otherwise completely sane and intelligent whose brain goes on hyper mode (not goes on vacation, mind you - Then toh serial goes into bakwas mode) who gets married to two different girls with equally distributed shaadi procedures and then is like WT* DID I DO???

the fiery, practical, matter of fact heroine whose wrong choice of words in an emotional moment (technically married as in only sindoor and no other shaadi ka rasam completed) sets the ball rolling - hitting the wrong target is still determined to move forward while at the same time perfecting her Taanay maaring skills.

Ooohhhh!!! The show is just perfect at the moment:)

    1. Shwethuu!!! Good to see you here!!!
These two shows are on Sony ... after ages, Sony seems to have gotten some decent shows on air. Actually, Sony has been decent, they have stayed off the daayan, naagin black magic path ... even Reporters was a decent show.

The only problem with both shows ... and it's a big problem, is that the FLs in both, are bad! Kuch Rang FL is really bad ... she has no expressions or voice modulation at all ... and there is no chemistry between the leads as of now ... their love story hasn't really started, but you don't get any romantic feels from either of them. But the ensemble cast is good, and I like Supriya Pilgaonkar ... also I like shows where the FL is educated and a working woman. It's more a family show, I find the love story very secondary.

Ek Duje is more of a love story, and the guy is very good looking. :) :) :) It's his first show, he was very raw when he started, but is definitely improving. The girl again is average, better than the Kuch rang FL, but nothing great. Again chemistry is not so great ... especially when you compare Arshi or Parud ... but the story telling is good so far (except the last few episodes have been a yawn) and again, ensemble cast is good.

I haven't watched Gangaa for ages ... I like the guy who plays grown up Sagar, he was in Veera ... will try to catch up with it. Ganga was directed by Waseem Shabeer, and I have liked all that guy's shows ... as many as I've seen ... Maryada, Veera, Ganga and now Tamanna.

Oh, am also watching Tamanna :) That is NOT a love story ... that's about a woman finding her place ... again a subject close to my heart.

    2. Oh I spoke too soon:(

The problem with Indian shows that I have watched so far, is the moment the love story takes centre stage, the hero's realization is rushed through, everyone loses their character plot, things get exaggerated and loads of unnecessary drama and triangles, rectangles, grrrr.....

So much has changed since I wrote about Gangaa last week...the show has effectively derailed, right now the actors save the day and whatever little bit is left of the original characters that you started loving....

Hopefully show comes back on track soon...*sigh*

You have Sagar who despite being a lawyer knowing perfectly well that it was a blunder of epic proportions to marry his G.F. Jhanvi in a momentary or rather hourly spell of madness has not figured out that he can actually file for divorce considering he is still crazily in love with Gangaa....

Gangaa despite being a law student has not thought it right to suggest the same thing to him considering the sham of a marriage is messing up 3 lives.

Jhanvi who was and is perfectly aware of the equation between Gangaa and Sagar, knowing fully well that Sagar had technically married Gangaa and was marrying her purely in rage, jumped at the chance to marry just so she gets to marry Sagar and not Gangaa.

The parents Niranjan, Madhvee, Granny Ammaji and brother Pulkit just do not see the hell Sagar is going through (yes, Sagar brought it on himself) and expect him to move on or worse pretend that they cannot see this guy is this close to a breakdown....again and is barely hanging there.

The Bhabhi Supriya, and the Chief cook Maharaj seem to be the only sane people left in the show who are able to see and worry about everything.

PLUS...As if the triangle was not enough, we have a rectangle with the entry of a new lawyer who is supposed to make Sagar Jealous and a possible romantic angle with Gangaa*face palm*

Jhanvi and Sagar's Mama, Mami and nephew's plans to create rift between Sagar-Gangaa and within the Chaturvedi family - is completely forgotten.

      I want my show back....grrrr.....

    3. Are you still watching it? Yeh to hona hi tha, Shwethu :) I stopped watching Gangaa completely once the kids grew up ... now can't go back to it, I've lost touch.

Switch to Ek Duje and Kuch rang ... both on Sony ... they are getting interesting. We can discuss them here. :)

  2. The ML from ek duje ke liye, the guy has improved a lot from early episodes. How did you like yesterday's episode? What compelled him to come back? With all that has been happening? Guess hope writers show that in story telling.

    1. They haven't really shown why he came back yet, but I guess he said it when he told Nanaji that this was his house too, the place which held his childhood memories.

Friday ended in a cliffhanger though ... Khosla has caught them trespassing in the house, so legally they are on a sticky wicket. Hope Shravan can get them out of this ... using his brains!
