First, two gorgeous pics of Arnav-Khushi - Sanaya is looking simply stunning as Mrs. Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada - a fitting look for a tycoon's wife, 3-4 years into her marriage. Gorgeous, subtly yet beautifully dressed - love the big earrings and the understated necklace, the gorgeous red saree, rich looking without being ostentatious, classy and tasteful, with brocade blouse ... she is looking stunning and sophisticated, a tycoon's wife to the T. What a stunner she is!!!
And for the first time since the recent pics, BS looks good as Arnav Singh Raizada, he has finally shaved and trimmed his beard and hair, and the difference it makes to his looks is amazing. Still looks a little scrawny, and he has aged at least ten years, but at least he has neatened up. They make such a good looking onscreen couple ... no wonder they became so iconic and popular.

So we get some clarity on the number of episodes and the duration. Well, something to look forward to ... hopefully a decent ending for the show, that will give permanent closure once and for all to the phenomenon that was IPKKND. I don't miss the show so much now ... BS's exit and its untimely end has tinged it with bitterness that has not quite faded ... but I do still wish that SP and Gul had replaced BS when he first wanted to leave in Feb ... we might have gotten the actual story they had planned. of all regrets about the ending, that one will always remain the strongest.
Though I really wonder that no one has called out Barun on his hypocrisy ... three years ago, the show made him "brain dead" and he couldn't wait to leave it ...according to him, "anyone could play ASR' ... and the abrupt ending of the show was due to a combination of his leaving and the hysteria of Arshi fans, who completely ignored Sanaya and her wishes, in their mad outbursts of hysteria and rage to end the show if he wasn't there ... and now he says he doesn't feel that the show ever ended. Well obviously he would feel that way, since he has really not done anything substantial since then ... and now he wants to recreate the same magic ... Coming down to earth with a bang.
Sanaya sounds more down to earth when she says the new episodes are to boost the popularity of the web channel among the youth ... and diplomatic, when she says the channel's popularity will do well for IPK - EJ!

All you Arnav-Khushi fans, time to shout in joy!
As some of you may know, the popular jodi of Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani will be soon back with their love story, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon.
The show on hotstar will recreate the magic of Arnav Khushi once again.
Titled Iss Pyaar Ko Naam Doon, Ek Jashn, the nine episode mini-series has been produced by The Entertainment Mafia.
Now unlike reports in the media, here we bring you some ‘super exciting’ developments.
The couple, Sanaya and Barun will not be ‘only’ part of the first episode, but the entire season.
Yippee! Isn’t it great news?
And the ‘Jashn’ special will air from 24 November on hostar Originals and not 30 November, as reported earlier.
The love drama on Star Plus had surely created a niche with fans going crazy over the jodi. Barun and Sanaya, both became icons and the world went into a tizzy when news of the show’s end was announced.
This ‘comeback’ sort has surely brought a smile on the faces of the fans who had long been demanding a season 2.
The CEO of Star Plus, Anil Jha, also tweeted confirmation of the reunion, but no official clarification yet about the number of episodes, or the content. Barun in an interview confirmed there are new scenes, and Akshay also confirmed that many of the original cast members are back, articles say there will be interviews with the cast about their experience working on the show, and the feedback they got.
Sanaya has been silent so far ... knowing her, a single episode, or a week-long series of episodes is not a big deal for her ... she will open her mouth now for her new show ... after the mandatory interviews during the official airing, of course. However, she has always maintained that she loved Khushi, she loved the cast and crew of IPKKND, she was deeply upset and saddened when it ended so suddenly ... so she really has nothing new to say. And she knew very well the amount of love and hysteria the show generated overseas, she saw it all firsthand. I hope this gives her some closure as well, although she has moved on with other shows, but the abrupt ending of this must hurt her somewhere, especially as she was ready to continue with it as long as required.
BS has been giving multiple interviews about the new episodes ... considering his singular lack of success in anything else so far, guess this remains his only claim to fame, and he seems to be desperately milking it for all he's worth. The show that made him 'brain dead', the show he couldn't wait to leave, the show he said he would rather sell milk than continue in ... rather ironic that the same show is his only path to resurrection three years down the line. A famous saying goes ... respect your work, or it won't respect you.
So the wait for the new episodes is shortened - they will air from the 24th November, and probably air till the 30th November, the day that IPKKND went off air three years ago.
And I hope we get a satisfactory ending, and with this, a final closure to the show ... and Sanaya can move ahead with something new and rocking. Also hope that with her appearances on Star, this means that she is already on board with them again, or in the process of doing so ... and once IPKKND - Ek Jashan has aired, we will get news of her next show.

Fans of the iconic show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon are in for a treat. Arnav and Khushi are all set to return with fresh episodes after a gap of almost three years. The show, renamed as Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Jashn, will be available exclusively on hotstar, from 24th November 2015.
New episodes will be available to the fans every week on Tuesday and Saturday, under the popular hotstarOriginals brand.
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was a top rated show in 2011-12, and its popularity amongst the youth had turned its lead actors Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani into superstars. The show went off air in November 2012, disappointing millions.
And now Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Jashn will return with eight 10-minute episodes, showing a day in the life of Arnav and Khushi, set 3 years into their marriage.
Talking on the same, Sanaya shares, “I am confident of the success of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Jashn. It’s not only the fans but even we are all glad to be back. I think hotstar’s popularity among the youth will do well for the show and vice-versa.”
Adds Barun, “It never felt like the show ended. I kept receiving feedback and mails from fans as they continued to watch the previous season on hotstar. The entire team of the show is back for this series and we hope to recreate the same magic.”

This is so wired, this was one show, that I loved so much, very disheartened when they abruptly ended it and of course all the backstage BS drama...I mean Barun Sobti's drama... and now to hear this news and I am not excited at all!!!!!!!!!! The whole thing has like.....left a bitter taste in my mouth?!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Dia you are absolutely right- the lead actor could not wait to leave the show, it was affecting his health, marriage and what not, too bad he thought he could abandon the project that got him all the fame and success and embark on his journey to be a super movie star! And that boomeranged on him, at least it looks like. But then he is not the only TV star to that I guess.
Anyhow just wanted to put my two cents in, sorry for the rant, hope you will be updating the coming episodes, because I don't know whether i will have any access to watch it online here in the US?
Like your work and I keep reading them as you update, not so great at writing, so refrain myself from doing it ;-)
Take care...
MB,
DeleteGood to hear from you!!! I thought no one came here any more!
I just updated the main post with very similar views after reading the latest interview. I was really not excited at all about this news ... the bitterness of the lead actor leaving and the hysteria created by fans, which led to its ending, left too much bitterness, which hasn't really faded with time. But seeing Sanaya in her new look, a look I really wanted for her, has made me look forward to the episodes a little more. I hope we get a good ending for Khushi, and a better ending for the show than the rushed one we did get, because the lead actor wasn't available.
Apparently hotstar.com, the website works in the US ... it doesn't work in the UK, where I am ... so you might be able to see the episodes earlier than I will!!! I will have to use proxies and try that way ... hope I succeed! Fortunately I'm going to India in December, so I'll definitely catch the episodes there. Will update as soon as I am able to!
Take care :)
No Dia, no-one has deserted your blog..........Your writing keeps some of us peeking in, from time to time. I don't have access to Hotstar, but given the short shrift that the channel and BS fans gave IPKKND, I am not too enthused about 8, 10 minute episodes - I guess a tinge of bitterness lingers on. Nor did I ever find another serial to match the charm of IPKKND, and in a way, I am glad to get my life back.
DeleteLook forward to your write-ups and updates on the Hotstar epis here. But more importantly, I hope this means Sanaya is back to the Star stable with a show that has everything she deserves!
Hi Aki! Good to see you again!
DeleteHotstartweets, their official twitter handle, tweeted that Hotstar is now available globally, and that IPKKND Ek Jashn will also be available globally ... and they said the same on their Facebook page. It is net content and has been made for the purpose of increasing the popularity of HS, so I guess they have worked to ensure that international fans also have access to the site. I checked it out and now I can open the website on my computer as well as iPad, and can watch the IPPKNDEJ promo. So do check it out ... you should be able to watch it, if you want to.
Same feelings here ... I was not enthusiastic about the news of the reunion when it first came ... and neither am I very enthused about the new episodes. The only thing which has got me a little excited is Khushi's new look in the red saree ... finally she looks like a tycoon's wife, stylish, sophisticated and very elegant ... and stunning with it! I hope with the change in clothes, they also show her character having matured a little ... although she has promised the craziness will still be there ... she wouldn't be Khushi without it!
Barun has aged ten years in these three years ... during the show he looked as young as Khushi, now he looks at least ten years older. He has lost weight, and become scrawny, and looks as though he has started balding slightly. Also, in the promo, there is no trace of ASR, it is only Barun all the way ... felt like I was watching Sanaya and Barun ... or worse, Khushi and Barun! I hope he remembers the essence of his character during the episodes ... or maybe not ... if he can't recreate ASR effectively, that would be the end of ASR, and it would be a good way to lay to rest once and for all, the ghost of IPK, that has haunted so many of us the last three years.
About Sanaya being back to the Star stable ... I have a strong feeling that is happening, or has happened already ... she just did a performance on their show tonight, Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi, the Amitabh Bachhan show ... and me being me, I investigated all the performers on this show ... and found that all the TV celebs who have appeared here, are already associated with Star, or they are in talks for new shows on Star. So keeping fingers tightly crossed, that the same thing is happening with Sanaya, and we will get the news in due course.
Hotstar available globally? So Gul is finally testing the waters on finding a way to launch her serial on internet TV - Good for her & wish her lots of luck in her endeavour!!!
DeleteNot Gul ... this is totally the initiative of Star ... I have a feeling to test the waters ... or maybe it's just what they say ... it's to promote their web channel Hotstar, IPKKND with its international popularity, is the best way. Also, the ending of the show was so half-baked and unsatisfactory, this will give the show a better closure. But it's not being done by Gul ... there is a new PH involved ... although the old writers Gautam Hegde and his team are on board.
DeleteDia, U here, I keep peeking in too, so happy you keep us all updated on Sanaya news. Yes, looking forward to read your write ups on the new episodes. I am also excited to see Khushi in her new and more mature, and modern avataar.
ReplyDeleteI guess should not be too surprised seeing the hypocrisy the actor and hardcore fans are showing. IPK still remains the only feather in his cap after three years.
U, good to see you back!!! :) :) :) Yep, that's the main thing that excites me about this new set of episodes ... watching Khushi in a new, modern avatar, yet with her own particular brand of craziness, and innocence mixed with maturity, that special mix that only Sanaya can carry off so effortlessly.
DeleteDon't talk about the hypocrisy of those pankhis ... when he was leaving, they were all gung ho about 'his choice, his career, his life, his right to live it the way he wanted ' ... they celebrated when their abuse made SP take the decision of shutting the show overnight (a decision I am still mad at SP about!) ... and bashed Sanaya so viciously for daring to want to continue the show without him ... and now they are equally gung ho about the return of the show they claimed was crap, and welcome him back as though the ending of the show was nothing to do with him! Obviously they will welcome him back ... he has nothing else to show for the last three years except for a flop movie that no one even saw, and others which show no signs of seeing the light of day. This web series is probably his last chance to get a decent release for his stuck movies, and maybe some funds for the completion of that cricket one, which hasn't completed its shoot for the last three years!!! They always say, respect your work, and it will respect you ... he kicked his work in the butt, and look where he is now!
Anyway, all I want is that Sanaya gets her due share of recognition this time round. And in the meantime, it will be a treat to watch her acting again!
I stumbled on this blog and I must say it was a complete waste of time.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so bitter and negative.
It is inhuman to expect from a person to keep working in something he doesn't enjoy, just because you want to see him and are a fan.
I understand that since I am a fan as well.
But to tag him as a hypocrite and bash him is no good.
We should respect his wishes and decisions.
He didn't break any law or showed tantrums.
He left the show post fulfilment of contract and even gave a notice 8 months before leaving.
That was ample time for writers to think of an appropriate ending.
It was the hysteria of fans that made the show end not barun.
He is back since he understands what ipkknd meant to us and it sure was special to him.
Even sanaya doesn't have any grudge against him.
Stop defaming barun.
He's a wonderful person and an actor who boldly took the step to venture out and gain exposure outside of TV serials.
I respect him immensely due to this.
PS. So excited to see these new episodes. Be positive guys and cherish the good stuff.
And ASR won't be the same ASR since the character is past his bitter past.
Peace :)
Hi Anonymous,
DeleteI'm sorry that you feel this blog was a waste of your time.
Just a few corrections - no one here is a fan of Barun Sobti. Most of us do not like or respect the man, although we admire the actor who gave us ASR. The two are different aspects for us.
We are fans of IPKKND, a great show, and of the characters Arnav and Khushi ... more Khushi than Arnav ... and of Sanaya Irani, an actress who has held our respect over the last 5 years ... a difficult feat for any actor to do, given the fickle nature of the viewers, and the glass houses the actors live in, where one slip is enough to shatter illusions.
Also, no one here wanted him to continue working in the show when he wanted to leave. We would have been very happy to see him leave, and watch the show with another ASR or another male lead, whatever worked for the show. There were very active discussions on this blog around the time when he first left for the MAMR shoot ... the general consensus on this blog was that he should leave and a new ASR be brought in.
He is tagged as a hypocrite here because of statements he made during the ending of the show, and the wholly contradictory statements he makes now, and the complete lack of respect for the show when he left ... we have all quoted some of his statements above, they are not our imagination.
He is back not because of love for his fans ... if he had any such love, he would either not have left the show, or would have made a clearcut statement about his departure, instead of various fumbling liess like his health, his wife, his family ... he is back because he is at bottom of the ladder, his movies have failed or are stuck in cans, and he has nothing left in his career. We are not under any illusions here about his 'love' for his fans.
Sanaya may have no grudge against him, that is generous of her ... we are Sanaya fans, but we don't follow her blindly ... we are thinking, intelligent individuals, who have our own opinions and views.
Many TV actors try for movies ... he is not the first, and won't be the last. There is nothing bold or adventurous about the move, it's a natural progression of career paths. There is also nothing wrong in their doing so ... it is their life, and their career, and they are entitled to lead it any way they think fit. Where he went wrong was the way he did so, by dumping the show halfway through the story, showing complete lack of committment or dedication to the show, through lies and half-truths, and showing lack of respect for his work, and for the show that was the first, and so far, the only hit of his career. The statements that he made ... 'anyone can play ASR', I'd rather sell milk than do a daily", I'll run a grocery store but won't do TV again, "I was going brain dead playing ASR" ... show his lack of respect for the medium that made him a star ... and when a person doesn't respect his work, no one respects him ... at least, no thinking individual can do so.
One last thing. This is a private blog, and most people here have been members for the last five years. we know each other, we have participated in discussions together, we have differing points of views many times, but the atmosphere is always cordial and friendly. You are an outsider, you were completely out of place jumping in and lecturing us on what we can say or not say, and 'defaming' Barun. He is a public figure, there will be differing opinions about him, both positive and negative, and we hold our opinions, which we express here among friends. I do not allow negative posts or any rudeness towards members here. I have not deleted your post yet, to give you a chance to read my reply, but it will be deleted soon. We keep this blog very positive, and your post is not conducive to the atmosphere we maintain here. I hope you understand this ... I will be happy to see you post again, but only if you can follow the decorum we maintain here.
