Update 6/10 - Weekend review in brief -
The weekend was average in terms of performances.
Saturday- solo acts
Shamita was good, but same old Bollywood style. A song from Devdas, with classical undertones, and Shamita either is not a trained classical dancer, or is a bad one. Her hand postures are all over the place, and she loses her grace whenever the pace of the song quickens. But overall the act was nice.
Mohit - performed with a third choreographer, and the repeated changes affects his performance. Poor coordination, average act. The ending was good.
Sanaya - lyrical hip hop to a remix of a lovely song. Slow beats are most difficult to perform to, and she did a fabulous job. Her flips have become effortless, her transitions are now almost seamless, the last part against the wall was so good ... and her expressions nailed the entire act. And the bit with the thermacol was very difficult, as you can't control thermacol completely, it has a habit of flying in unexpected directions ... and they nailed that part too. A very good performance.
Faisal - his act was very weak this time ... and very uninteresting, I lost interest halfway through.
Sunday - acts with IGT participants
Shamita with the magician - this act was good, much better than I expected. They wove a story seamlessly into the act and did it very well. Again my problem with Shamita's lack of grace, especially in the fast moves ... her hands and legs go all over the place, she does not control her movements well.
Sanaya with the shadow master Prahlad. A good act, they created a beautiful atmosphere, and the act was lyrical in presentation, the feeling of entering a fantasy world was well presented. the return to reality and the ending was a bit tame ... an act should always end with a bang. I had a smile on my face throughout the act ... but the ending fell flat. They should have ended with the return to reality, and bang, a shadow follows them there!
Mohit's act with a chau artist ... it was difficult to incorporate the artiste's talent into a regular performance, and again coordination problems with Sneha. Very average ... the guest artiste was worth watching, I didn't really notice Mohit and Sneha much.
Faisal aerial act with the IGT winner, a aerial artiste ... they started off with Faisal and Manik Paul blindfolded on the aerial eye, Vaishnavi had her eyes open. Good an aerial act is always worth watching ... but not as spectacular as Sanaya and Jai's act ... not by a long shot. It was more acrobatics and less dance, the ground dance was good but too little, and back on the eye, they were just doing different postures.
So all in all - Sanaya had one excellent performance and one good one, Shamita had two decent ones, Faisal had one good and one bad, and Mohit had two very average ones. I feel Mohit will go out first next week in the finale, leaving San, Faisal and Shamita in top three ... and San and Faisal in top two.

Adding the link to Sanaya's interview with team Sarun ... normally they bug me with their BS and ipk jaap ... but this time, it's all about Sanaya and her Jhalak journey, and is one of her best interviews in recent times. I also LOVE her for her stand on water and electricity conservation ... a stand she has maintained for some time. i remember an iv with her on Earth Day where she mentioned that she always shuts the tap while brushing her teeth, switches off lights when she leaves the room, all small things which are second nature to her because of her mother's strictness.

Love the way she thanks her fans for never letting her come in the bottom ... also realise the pressure she was under to perform well, because we would not let her leave the stage ... that is a different kind of pressure ... she HAD to be good, because fans would save her every single time, but she had to justify her stay there by dancing well, she couldn't take it lightly at all. And the hours she put in ... she mentioned how they practiced one day from 8 in the morning to 6.30 am the next morning ... and she wasn't talking about the hours, she was talking about the poor guards who had to stay there for her. Amazing girl!
Also the way she brushed aside all talk about her injuries, saying only they are part and parcel of the JDJ journey, so she just wants her performances to go well. She would tell herself she can curl up and cry with pain after those two and a half minutes are over ... but those two and a half minutes had to go well, putting everything else aside.
More later :)

Two acts again this week - and Colors has officially lost it. So this week, the penultimate week, will not be scored, but only votes will count. And next week, the finale act will be scored.
Which basically means that everything is in the hands of the judges, as they will know the votes before they distribute scores. When I say distribute, the word is apt, as they have been distributing scores pretty much like laddoos to their favorite contestants, with very little regard for actual merit of the acts. So the chances of their scores being fair are almost nonexistent.
Anyway, it appears this was the pattern last year as well, so hopefully Jai and Sanaya knew about this. So this weekend will be a frenzy of voting ... let's see if Sanaya fans can overcome this last hurdle and get Sanaya home with the trophy. If the show was a contest for best dancer, Faisal would win hands down ... but since it is for the journey of a non-dancer to becoming a good dancer, Sanaya wins it hands down. Or she should.
First song San and Jai are performing to .. remix version of the old Aashiqui song Dheere dheere ... lyrical hip hop. Seems the performance went well ...thank god, after their poor show last week.
Lovely pic - San looks like a sixteen year old cheer leader here!
After the tension of last week, it's so good to see Sanaya's natural smile back on her face! Her visitors also have something to do with it :) ... plus the relief of knowing she is safe and not even in bottom two! We did it, Sanayaholics!!! :)
Jai still looking a little sombre here, must be before the act, while in the first pic above, he's smiling widely after the act :)
The second act - shadow act, am looking forward to this one!

With the finale near, it looks like Sanaya is ready for a tough fight. She already has her eyes set on her targets.
Mohit, Rakesh, Riddhi and Akshay seen here on the Jhalak stage. They have come to encourage Sanaya.
Mohit really needs to improve his dress sense!! His T-shirt is horrible!!! Raqesh is always well turned out, and so is Ridhi. Akshay is hit and miss, he is well dressed for once.

SANAYA AND PRAHLAD ARE ALL SET TO LEAVE YOU AWESTRUCK WITH A MAGICAL ACT!
Jhalak is just a week away from its finale. Contestants have geared up for the semi finals and the rehearsal for the finale performance is leaving them dead by the end if the day. But nothing can stop these top contenders from putting up unique acts.
This week was no different, rather was even more surprising with India’s Got Talent contestants pairing up with our dancing stars. Here's what you will get to see this week.
Sanaya Irani, who has been a consistent performer on Jhalak will be seen performing with IGT’s Prahlad Acharya. We all remember Prahlad for his shadow acts on IGT stage where he received remarkable praises and innumerable standing ovations. One of the finalists on IGT, Prahalad is undeniably talented in the shadow art form.
Sanaya and Prahlad will perform on Aawara Bhanwre and put up a mesmerising shadows act. Trust us, the combination of dance and the shadow act gave a marvelous effect on stage. After watching their act, dance guru Ganesh said, ‘’You took us to the world of fantasy’’
From Colors website, pics of Sanaya's first act
Sanaya and Jai seen here performing to the mixed version of the song 'dheere dheere'.
