Will post pictures in a while. In the meantime, a nice article in Fuzion.

I don't really want an out and out comic character ... Indian writers cannot write slapstick without going overboard or completely stupid ... witness Comedy Nights with Kapil. I would prefer a Khushi type lively character. On the other hand, Sanaya has been there, done that, and it's unlikely to find a better version of Khushi in the near future. So I would prefer 2 and 3 ... a grey character, with heart of gold of course :) ... and a modern corporate businesswoman/ lawyer/ head honcho type. But both are likely to remain wishful thinking for the near future, till Indian audiences start accepting heroines in such roles ... at least those 20,000 trp/BRAC audiences start accepting them ... or Indian TV channels find a way to cash in on online viewers.
Pic of Sanaya's next act on Colors website.
Quick weekend review - this was probably the worst weekend on Jhalak since the first one, in terms of performances.
Saturday - Shamita did a blindfolded act with her choreo, the troop was not blindfolded, and they pretty much guided both through their movements, including even their hand placements. So a good concept, not well thought out, and not well performed. Am surprised ... and happy ... Shamita got only 37 .. the performance did not deserve more.
Mohit did a matador act ... visually very appealing. All bold red and black, flames in the background, and a high energy, passionate performance. The dance troop was well used. The act wasn't flawless ... he got the Immunity ball for his 'hard work and improvement' ... like, really?!
Raftaar - group act was messy, the costumes were very boring, the entire act was untidy.
He was in face off with Vivian ... whose act as Rajnikant was actually good ... entertaining, full of dance from Vivian (that's a rarity!) and fun to watch. But VD lost out and is eliminated. Raftaar stays in the competition. This elimination was quite weird.
Sunday - first we had completely avoidable drama about judges' elimination and Karan leaving for his film.
Sanaya's act was first ... again messy, and poor use of the troop. It was a fun act, but not at this stage of the competition ... they need much more than 'fun' and 'cute' now ... they are among the front runners for the trophy, and every act now has to have the Wow factor. This one didn't. The judges' comments were harsh, but deserved.
Scarlett's act was high energy and fun, and good use was made of the troop.
Faisal's act was more about brilliant choreography than dance this time ... visually very high impact. The impact lessened once you realised the dancers were on the floor ... but the overall impact was still amazing.
The relay dance was okay ... I liked Raftaar and Scarlett, and Mohit ... although he was not scored. Sanaya was okay. Shamita forgot a few steps, and got 10 ... go figure!!! Good that KJo is leaving, hopefully Shamita's laddoo scoring will stop. Raftaar got the lowest score, which he did not deserve. He is probably the next to go.
