Sanaya Snippets and other TV shows

New post for May ... starting with the best news in a while ... news of Sanaya's probable return to TV. Since the lady has said it herself, this is from the horse's mouth, as it were ... can't get more reliable than that! Now the wait to see what she is doing ... JDJ or a new fiction show. Or preferably both, one after the other. :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eStYZOBinDY

Still watching Gangaa ... the whole teacher thing is being dragged quite a bit ... am not a fan of toilet humor. Hope they get over this part and continue with the main story soon. Prabha mami reappears ... I thought she would be banned after her stunt of getting Gangaa adopted as a servant. This time, it appears she will get her just desserts too.

Reporters ...  Who is Tarini, and what is she to Kabir? Also who is the actress ... I have seen her before ... can't remember where.

IKNMP ... Neil finally finds his voice and repudiates his engagement. Must say, if Nivedita hadn't realised till now that he would never be able to accept her as wife, she is very dumb. Or was it that she knew all right, but was just hoping to trap him into marriage regardless? Even more stupid ... what's with TV vamps trapping guys into marriage against their will? What do they actually hope to achieve? Marriage is tricky enough when both partners like or love each other ... when they don't like each other, or one partner is already in love with someone else, it's downright suicide. Especially for a supposedly intelligent, educated, independent woman like Nivedita.

Dosti ... Yaariyan ... Manmarzian  ... started watching this as I'm on the verge of giving up on IKNMP ... the show is interesting and intriguing as of now.

The 'female lead' Radhika is fairly standard young naive innocent types, she's an okay-ish actor for her first show, but has no spark ... she's rather boring ... has a sweet smile though.

Neil seems to be a nice guy too, good friends with everyone, charming, good-natured ... will he change shades as the show progresses, or will he continue to be the quintessential 'good friend'? Shouldn't think so ... he is labelled as 'male lead' ... one of the two.

It's the other two lead characters who are more intriguing ... Samairah is very interesting, and is played well by Kashmira, an unusual role, I would have liked to see Sanaya play this ... Kashmira is good, but there are scenes when I feel strongly that I would love to see what Sanaya made of this ... there is a resemblance between her and Sanaya, including the Parsi nose :) ... Kashmira has a harder face, while Sanaya retains her babyfaced innocence ... that might have made Samairah's character more effective ... an outwardly confident smart young girl, but with hidden vulnerabilities and complexes. The relationship between Samairah and her mother is very interesting ... for once, the girl has a past, not only the guy.
The lady playing Samairah's mother is very attractive ... casting spot on here. And I like the fact that there is a woman in charge of the agency, also like the office setting, where there actually seems to be some work going on ... for how long, is of course, anybody's guess.

Arjun is an angry young man with a difference ... a past which he hides not under anger and rudeness, but under a charming smiling exterior ... another first. Ahem Sharma is very good looking and a good actor too. Me likes :)

  1. Dia,
You watch reporters?even I tried watching, but found it very dull, though I like kritika and found the much hyped rajeev OK. You know this rajeev khandelwal earlier, meaning have u watched that sujal kashish show?

IKNMP- Neil is pretty spineless, didn't watch the episode, so he finally said no,good.and I wonder who is Pam really to take all important desicions in Neils life?I never saw her in both their flashbacks, Neil and his grandfather were living alone,so is Pam his real sister? So many questions, and that mystery new entry the old subbu.

Talking of yhm u stopped watching it?

Well,I catch up with swaragini and ashoka these days.
Swaragini:its a rashmi sharma show,so we know the sisters will end up in one sasural, but how?since there is only one prospective groom, and the CVS confuse us with which is the final jodi, though majority like swara lakshya.

Ashoka:hide and seek still going on,and saw in the promo that they are going to recreate goblet of fire last task in the final round of their pratiyogita.such lack of ideas,I say.

Did u come across new BARC ratings, saathiya is the top show, and Sony's CID with 6.4 is just behind..anyways,glad to see DABH at 8th or so position,I always wondered how it became the top show?

Finally, hoping that sanaya comes with a TRPs top show than JDJ.I don't want to see jdj ifcits along the lines of this year's nach baliye, its horrible.its more like a big boss, karan Patel is not good as an anchor, poor chetan bhagat sitting there clueless of the scripted reality show and trying to put some reality into the contestants, most faking everything and in turn gets bullied by contestants, anchors and other judges, poor guy.
Waiting to read ur reply, more later.

    1. Ah, thanks ... I knew I had seen her earlier ... couldn't remember where!

Yes, am watching reporters ... and liking it. I didn't know Rajeev from his previous show, I watched his Sach Ka Saamna just by chance, and didn't even know his name at the time ... but I thought that he was a very good anchor. Later I came to know he's Rajeev K. I watched Aamir, his first movie, he was very good in the movie. I didn't really plan to watch Reporters, I wasn't impressed by the promo at all ... but I started watching it in Delhi because my mom likes it, and I'm enjoying it. I didn't really care for Kritika earlier, but I quite like her here.

IKNMP ... I am watching it, but off and on ... agree with you that Neil is too spineless, and Pam too dominating ... don't know how long I will watch it.

Not watching Swaragini at all ... nor Ashoka.

Let's see what Sanaya does. If she does JDJ, I will watch her performances, and vote for her ... and try to ignore the fake drama.

NB 8 is horrible this year .. that's what comes of giving it to Ekta! I hope Colors doesn't decide to do the same with JDJ ... but if they do make it into a BB type tamasha, am sure San will not do it. She is far too private a person to do this kind of reality stuff ... she refused NB this year despite being free, and I'm sure it was because of the changed format. So many couples have bowed out of NB this year for that reason.

I'm more surprised at Saathiya being the top show than DABH ... though am glad DABH is down ... don't know how these shows get the trps they do! But the ratings are skewed heavily towards urban areas, they will stabilise over the next few months.

    2. dia,

if we could ever get BARC to channelise old shows rating, and see what RR actually got....

kritika, she was my favourite, even before DD and sanaya, had loved her in her first show kitni mohabbat hai[season 1] on ndtv imagine[ever watched it?actually,u should one day,it was a clean serial from ekta, that was the first of office-romance,nok-jhok show i ever saw,and needless to say,i loved it.]
even loved her as dr.nidhi in KTLK,but in reporters frankly, from the promos and all, neither did i like her attire nor hairstyle, and she used to be glowing in her previous show, well i'm glad that u liked her.

and ya,i know u don't watch swaragini and ashoka,i was just sharing what i watch these days.

i dont understand why all those people on FB ad IF go gaga over karan patel and his wedding/whatever that he's into, including NB8,is he that good?seriously?

saathiya is really one watchable show, despite all the OTT melodrama and BGM it has.the actors do their work convincingly,i always found it interesting since devoleena entered.rucha who played rashi was also excellent, and to why it get good ratings, people who watch it over the years feels some connection with it dia,so they dont really get bored, same is the case with YRKKH.but i hate dabh, its just nonsense despite having[or they had] a good story.

these days, there are re-runs of bidaai on star utsav, and when i see it at times,i think if sanaya had played the role of sadhna,it would have been an entirely different scenario[rajan shahi mentioned once that he had considered sanaya seriously for the role, before locking sara khan as the lead.]

      more later.

    3. I think Rajan Shahi had actually chosen Sanaya to be his Sadhna ... she turned it down because she was nervous about her Hindi, and she wasn't confident she could do a lead role. That's why he still admires her a lot and has a very good opinion of her.
But everyone has their kismet ... Sara Khan did Bidaai, such a successful show, and she is nowhere after that. Nor are any of the other actors ... they are not among the A listers of TV ... be it Kinshuk, Angad Hasija or the other girl, Parul something. If Sanaya had done Bidaai, would she be where Sara Khan is now ... which is nowhere? Or would she have reached her current position as an A lister on Tv a couple of years sooner? One really can't say.

I feel that most TV actors end up being one hit wonders ... only if they are really talented, can they manage to last long in this industry ... and sometimes it's not even just their own talent, that is the deciding factor, it's also the kind of shows they get, and which ones click. I really liked all the actors of Maryada ... senior and junior ... but haven't watched them in any of their prior or subsequent shows. Same with SGP ... same with quite a few other shows ... I liked them in one show, but they failed to hold my attention in their next one.

There are only two actors who have transcended their shows because of their talent or whatever other factor for me - they are Varun Badola and Sanaya. Varun Badola more by chance ... I watched him in three shows and liked him in all, all were very different characters and he played them all brilliantly ... but I wasn't following him, it was by sheer chance that he was in shows that I enjoyed. Sanaya is the only actor I have followed deliberately and by choice ... on TV, that is ... I've followed SRK and Kajol in BW, and have probably seen all their movies, especially Kajol's ... even the worst ones.

I won't comment on SNS, because I've never watched it ... I gave DABH a try when it started, because I like stories about women trying to be independent and professional ... but I dropped it after a month, because I couldn't stand Sandhya's acting. I actually watched YRK off and on for quite some time ... agree with you about the connection ... it's a slice of life and most people can find some connect to it at some point.
