RIP RK Laxman

The Common Man passes on, leaving behind his legacy of the common man, who will live forever.

R K Laxman passed away at the ripe old age of 94 on 26th January 2015. Ironically he passed away on the evening of Republic Day. A man who gave voice to the millions of voiceless people of India, he passed away on the anniversary of the day that India got her collective voice in the world.

He gave voice to the common people of India. Be it politics, sports, films, natural disasters, eminent personalities ... all were grist to his mill. He spared no one, he commented on all ... but with a subtle humor and gentle wit that masked the bite in his sharp commentary, which was almost always spot on.

I grew up reading his daily cartoons in the TOI. What a brilliant man  he was ... in a few strokes of his pen, he not only drew instantly recognizable caricatures of all the leading personalities of the time, but also put the most glaring issues of the the day forward in a few pithy words. His common man was the common man of India.

RIP RK Laxman ... you will be remembered for a long time to come.

Sanaya Snippets

More Sanaya snippets ... am missing her on screen! Hope she comes back soon, my interest in TV has dwindled to almost zero in her absence!

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tv/TV-bahus-who-are-too-hot-to-handle/photostory/45939715.cms

Sanaya Irani: Remember the beautiful girl with spectacles and tight chudidaars from Miley Jab Hum Tum. Yes, you are right we are talking about Sanaya Irani. The actress who is currently one of the top actresses of the small screen is often seen dressed in short dresses when she is not shooting. The actress looks equally gorgeous in Indian and western outfits and can carry off both the looks with elan.

Also Fuzion come out with the results of the top TV personality of the year 2014 ... surprise, surprise, it's Sanaya! Wonder how ... they are DD fans.

http://www.fuzionproductions.com/tv-actresses-fuze-tv-personality-year-female-poll-results/10/

1. Sanaya Irani comes in at number one. This actress is one of the most sought out actresses in the television industry. She was last seen as Paro/Myrah in Colors' Rangrasiya, where her pairing with Ashish Sharma was highly appreciated.

New Pics :

Adding here as I can't add them in comments, came out on 23-01-15

Somebody very wisely cropped Sanaya ... so we get a nice pic of her alone, with her sweet smile.

Another one of the entire group ... looks like the London group bonded really well after the AVTAs.
KT must be the photographer.

TV Shows We're Watching

Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh ... As I thought, Samarth has not turned a new leaf. He's merely trying new tactics.
Will Shobha fall for them?
Vikram is suspicious already.
Good to see Samarth knows his vamp sister through and through ... and is trying to figure out what her interest is in making Shobha leave her job. In the precap, Sarika tells him ... Shobha and Vikram were having an affair. Now what will Samarth do? He can't very well throw Shobha out ... he had multiple affairs and Shobha is giving him a chance despite them ... can he exhibit such blatant double standards?

Itn Na Karo Mujhe Pyaar ... Ragini is hot-tempered, impulsive, judgemental and prone to irrational, ill-thought out decisions in the heat of the moment. She is also sanctimonious in her unbending defense of the 'truth'.
Neil/Nachiket is irrational when it comes to Ragini, and a bit too ready to believe his extremely annoying sister, Pam, whenever she goes into a rant about Ragini.
But both have feelings for each other ... both have been unable to move on because of those feelings. Both have unresolved issues, unresolved hurt ... the wounds still raw even after fifteen years ... time has not healed any of them.

Pam seems unbalanced on the subject of Ragini, obsessively so.
Nivedita is the usual scheming Ekta vamp.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein ... Is Divyanka/the writer deflecting criticism about Ishita being holier-than-thou devi maiyya for bringing her husband's ex-wife home?
Adi is the pits ... can a 12 year old boy really be manipulated so easily, and be so dumb?

I seem to be watching three Ekta shows ... my brains must be fried!

Part 2:

Written Update :

The journalist has not done much homework, also she seems to be from Bhoole Bisre Geet days!
Brief update - starts with questions about Sanaya's entry to TV, staring with ads, her foray into films with Fanaa, and her decision to stay away from the film world after that ... her decision to enter TV because she started to enjoy acting and wanted to do more than the 30 seconds of acting she got to do in ads.
She didn't want to start as lead, she wanted small roles first to see for herself if she was any good, and also because of her lack of Hindi skills ... (she didn't mention she turned down the Bidaai role) so she auditioned for LRL and got the role. She learned Hindi by asking her co-actors on the sets to speak to her only in Hindi. She made it clear to her producers that she didn't speak the language, didn't want to take a role and then be told that she fooled them by hiding her lack of Hindi. She took up MJHT for the same reason ... it was a four lead show, so she thought the emphasis would be shared and would not be only on her. She wanted to take up solo roles only when she felt she was ready for them.

(I remember an interview just before IPK started, when she said she was ready to be solo lead and wanted to see if she could carry a show on her shoulders ... so obviously her confidence grew enough during MJHT.)

Some talk about Miley ... she went because she was told it was a college show, then was told she has to wear salwar kameez, which threw her off track ... but the girls were very Indian and 'desi' ... she wanted to do it then, as she had always been told that she can't carry off a 'desi' look ... she was always cast as a girl from London or the US ... she didn't own a salwar kameez, so auditioned in jeans, a top and a borrowed dupatta.
SS asks if she felt odd wearing Indian clothes ... Sanaya clarifies that she loves wearing Indian clothes, they are most comfortable, especially while shooting, as she doesn't have to bother about how she's sitting, whether anything is slipping, showing, short skirt, low neck etc. ... (saw that during RR when she was not very comfortable wearing short dresses as Myrah) ... it was just that she didn't own one, as she doesn't wear them when she's not shooting.

SS asks if she has ever been disappointed with the show or her character, she says no, but she has always been worried whether she will disappoint her producers with her acting. many times she sees shows on TV, the character narration was something, and what she sees on TV is something different. I presumed at this question, that she was talking about shows and roles she had been offered, and had refused, and when she saw the shows on TV, she found the character very different to what was narrated. Also remember her saying something similar during IPK days ... and something similar another friend told me ... that when the actors cannot portray a role the way the directors/producers see it, the directors/writers are forced to change the role to something the actor can portray. Sanaya says this happened during IPKKND, she kept telling the producers to tell her what they wanted, and correct her if she was not delivering it ... because she wanted to present their vision properly. Again shows how much thought and effort she puts into her roles and her characters.

Some talk about Fanaa ... why she did the role ... she was offered once, she refused, then a second time, and she said yes because it was with Aamir Khan and Kajol, and she wanted to see close hand how these two very fine actors work. She had a great time doing the role, and a great time with the actors, found them very friendly ... but her role was chopped, she was disillusioned, and decided to stay away from films. But it did help her to get more ads, she was noticed enough in the film for that ... so overall it worked well for her.

SS keeps mentioning how her twitter is flooding with messages ... she sounds more overwhelmed than Sanaya!

Next discussion is about Chhanchhan ... she liked the story when it was narrated to her but it didn't get TRPs, and that's when a lot of changes are made as the show and the makers come under pressure. Finally the makers and the channel were no longer on the same page, so the show had to end.

Discussion about TRPs and creativity ... Sanaya makes a very valid point about how changes are made under TRP pressure, but usually those changes don't work either, so it would be better just to stick to the original story ... at least it would get the TRPs it was getting already, and would not plunge further. That is the sad thing about TV ... it works under TRP pressure, and too many changes are made under pressure. TRPs don't bother her, but the changes that are made due to that pressure, bother her, because they change the story that she was narrated and she signed up for. Every show cannot be a hit, but when she signs up for a show, she signs up for a story and a role ... and when that is thrown out of gear because of TRPs, then she is disappointed. That happened with Rangrasiya ... the TRPs didn't come, panic mode started and the story was rushed. Although the basic story stayed on track, it was rushed, so they ran out of story.

Discussion moves to Rangrasiya and the hectic shoot in Rajasthan, the physical discomfort, the extreme heat, yet the 'high' it gave her as an actor, the feel of being almost on a movie shoot, with the outdoor locations, the desert, not being in the same studio everyday ... she loved the experience despite the poor conditions, the heat, the health issues ... her makeup would melt off her face in exactly seven minutes, and her DOP reassured her he would make her look good even without makeup ... and to her surprise, he did.
Again she repeates ... she loved Rangrasiya, she loved doing the show, if asked again to sign it, knowing it would go off air in 9 months, she would still do it.

Talk about London ... Sanaya loves London, she loves how loved she feels when she comes there, she has done her Meet and Greets with fans there ... and she has loved all the experiences. She was so surprised the first time she came and saw how many people watch Indian shows, and love them ... she loves coming to London, and she loves London too. She enjoyed her Meet and Greets with fans ... she hasn't done that sort of thing in India, and she's normally very bad with fans in India, especially if they see her while she's on her 'me' time, shopping or eating out ... she doesn't mind talking to them or even a hug, but doesn't like posing for pictures ... because one pic becomes ten, and it goes out of hand, she can't do what she came out to do. So she says no, she knows they feel bad, offended, but she really doesn't know what to do.
Frank, honest ... so Sanaya.

Discussion on movies she has seen ... PK, which expresses her own thoughts on religion ... she is a believer, spiritual, but doesn't believe in rituals. She believes in karma ... do good to people, create good karma, and good will happen to you.
Hope so, Sanaya ... really hope so!!! Hope your next show comes soon, and is your biggest hit ever.
Chaar Kadam from PK is her current favorite song ... that is played.

SS asks Sanaya about her name .. it's not a Parsi name, the meaning is 'knowledge of all truth' ... nice. Her role model is not her mother, she is very close to her entire family, mother, father, brother, sister ... but she wants to take her mom's goodness, the giving nature, her habit of doing things for the needy.

Brief talk about doing Jagjit Singh's ghazal as a music video ... and again talk about her favorite music ... talk about social media ... again Sanaya clarifies, she is NOT on any social media, she does not put up private pictures, they do get leaked sometimes, but she does not put up any, she is a very private person, and she likes to stay that way. She does her work, and then likes to spend time with her friends and family, that's the way she is.

Asked about her favorite role ... Khushi in Iss Pyaar Ko ... Paro and Gunjan both had restrictions, but Khushi could do anything, she could smile, laugh, cry, be sad, be crazy ... besides, it was her most favorite set, and the people were her most favorite team, she doesn't think she will get another team like that ever in her life, that happens once in a lifetime ...

SS asks about the bonding between her and Barun, and the chemistry ... Sanaya agrees the chemistry between them was very good, because they were both good friends, and the comfort showed on the screen. Having said that, the chemistry is not just between two actors, it was the entire team ... it's good to have a good environment on the sets, because they're shooting for 12 hours every day, and if there are grudges or egos, then that is not a nice way to shoot. And she has been very lucky in that respect ... except for 'that first hero in Chhanchhan', she has been very lucky to have good teams ... even in Rangrasiya, she didn't just shoot with Ashish, sometimes there were 6-12 people in a scene, so everyone being on the same page is very important.

It usually takes a day and a half to record one episode ... good grief, how do those SP shows manage to churn out 6 episodes a week?!

She doesn't get to watch her episode before it airs, but she records all the episodes, and watches them later ... mainly to critique her own performance.

IPK ... how does she feel that is has been dubbed in so many languages, and is now showing in the UAE, dubbed in Arabic?
She feels very good about it ... especially since it is her favorite show, she is happy it is still loved so much.
Would she have liked it as much if she hadn't been in it?
Oh yes, she would have ... because the show itself was so good ... it was well written, and very well executed. Everything was so right about the show, the script, the dialogue writing, and most importantly ... the reason she thinks most TV shows don't come out well ... the execution. One can have the strongest story, the strongest actors, but if you don't execute it right in the sense of a good director, a good editor, good background music, you can completely ruin the final product. So if you have a strong execution team, even an OK looking show will look good. And that is the biggest thing in TV ... with good execution, the show can turn out very good, even with just an OK story.

So true ... this holds true for both TV and films ... a simple story, told well, will always find takers. Execution is really the key ... something I have always said too ... good writing, good direction can make an average show look good ... good acting is merely the icing on the cake. While good acting alone cannot make poor writing, poor direction, poor execution succeed.
However, good acting can and does enhance any product ... it will make an average product look decent, and a good product look superb.
This answer showed Sanaya's grasp over the medium of television, and its vagaries. This one as well as the one on TRPs and the changes they bring about.

A question about the new IPK - EBP ... Sanaya clarifies, that as far as she knows, the show was not supposed to be called IPK at all, it had a different name, and SP basically tried to cash in on the popularity of IPK, by naming EBP with the same name (not said in so many words, but that's what she meant. Can make out she was still not very happy about that!)

Questions from some fans ... did IPK story stay the same all through as narrated to her?
Sanaya says yes, it did, except since people loved the Arshi chemistry, they prolonged that, and the MU came later than originally planned.
Hmm ... she glossed over some changes ... Khushi was supposed to be kidnapped, not Arnav, and the story after the kidnapping went for a toss.

Some talk about BS leaving ... San glossed over that as well, and covered Barun's back by saying he didn't leave for movies ... yes, well, if you say so, Sanaya ... do you really believe that, or were you just covering for your friend? And San would love to work with BS again, because he's a good actor and a great friend ... but it's not happening, because he wants to do movies, and no TV.

San is not interested in doing photoshoots ... she will be seen only when she is back on screen. So hope and pray she gets a good show soon.

Sanaya, that is all we are hoping and praying for these days!!! TV is so boring without you!!!

My question was asked ... would she do BW if she got a good offer? And what is her dream role?
San is not enamoured of BW, so she won't go looking for offers ... but never say never ... if she says no, she might find herself doing something the next day :) ... so she won't rule it out ... if she gets a good offer, and a good banner, she might do it.
Dream roles are Rani in Black, and recently, Kangana in Queen.
I have had this thought before ... Queen would be a good movie to adapt for TV ... it could be stretched to a one year show quite easily. It was in my mind when I sent the question.

A job she would NOT like to do ... number crunching in an office in front of a PC!
She planned to do MBA and then advertising, client services etc ... if she hadn't gone into acting.

She's not hearing wedding bells yet ... thank God!!! Selfish me ... want to see her on screen for a while longer.

She loves chocolates :) ... and she loves her mother and her genes, that she can eat all the chocolates she wants without putting on weight. Her family has great genes ... they all look younger than their age, and they all eat what they like without putting on weight! Lucky!!!
Hobbies - dancing and travelling. Also eating and sleeping ... but maybe they don't really count as hobbies.
This girl is too funny!

What does she do in her spare time?
She normally works 12 hours, then comes home and unwinds by watching a movie with family or friends. She's not really a going out type of person.

Best compliment she has ever received ... this was during her IPK days, when no one, not even her producers and writers, thought she could do the role of a small town dehati girl ... considering she was so "South Bombay" types. So when she got text messages from them after they saw her performance, that was the biggest compliment for her.

Another question on how she improved her Hindi ... she repeats that she asked her LRL colleagues to speak to her only in Hindi. In Iss Pyaar Ko ... she had a lot of lines, so she used to sit on the sets and learn them, she did a lot of homework on her dialogues. And she has Mohit, Mr Punjabi, so between shows she tells him to speak to her in Hindi.

SS finally asks the question we're all waiting for ... when is she coming back to the screen?
Sanaya replies, there is nothing in the pipeline as of now :( :( :(  She has had a few offers, but nothing that really excited her ... so nothing as of now.

Darn, I really, REALLY hope that tarot reader is right ... or that Sanaya is being her usual "I have nothing" till it is 150% confirmed ...

One last question ... if doing a daily show, can show do other shows alongside? An obvious reference to NB, JDJ and the like.
Sanaya replies very firmly that she can't do more than one show at a time, especially if doing a lead.

Any regrets about projects she has missed out on, or said no to?
Equally firmly ...no, no regrets.

SS and Sanaya sign off, Sanaya with an effervescent 'bye, love you all.'

Also a new pic of Sanaya with DD on DD's birthday. Very cute pic on a girls' holiday out ... probably a bachelorette party before DD gets married ... if that news is true.

Award Shows

So the award shows for the year gone by have started, and it was my misfortune to sit through the first one last night. Why did I bother?! Should have known what was coming when Queen and Kangana were not even mentioned in the nominations for Best film and Best Actress. *Head desk* moment ... the first of many ... when Farah Khan got Dream Director award for Happy New Year. Next one - Deepika got Best Actress for HNY ... and SRK got Best Actor for the same movie.

Kostin - How many awards did HNY team buy? They sure didn't win any on merit.

An article that echoes my sentiments very well.

http://www.firstpost.com/bollywood/parineetis-orange-blazer-varun-dhawans-award-mysteries-stardust-awards-2041015.html

Last night I sat through three hours of the Stardust Colors Sansui Awards. Unlike the Filmfare awards, the editing is far better in this one and the acts take place in front of the audience and not separately. That’s about all that I can hold up by way of distinguishing one from the other, but having watched this spectacle, I do have a few questions.

Parineeti Chopra wore an orange blazer to this event. Why is she borrowing items from Jackie Shroff’s wardrobe? Or is it Karan Johar’s? Regardless, why is she wearing it?

Why had Madhuri Dixit chosen to cling-wrap her outfit around her? No, don’t make jokes about sealing in freshness.

Why is Parineeti borrowing clothes from Karan Johar? Image courtesy Twitter
Why is Parineeti borrowing clothes from Karan Johar? Image courtesy Twitter

Did Stardust decide only the A-list stars needed a good designer or were there different dress codes given to the smaller stars? After all, Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were dressed extremely well, but the same couldn’t be said of everyone. (See first question)

Is this award show the coming out party for all Bollywood’s has-beens? I spotted Jackie Shroff and his under-eye sacs, Gulshan Grover and Raveena Tandon.

Amitabh Bachchan only cracked a smile when he was being praised and spent the rest of the show in a contemplative mood. Was he wondering which number tweet he had to post?

Why were Ayesha Shroff and Tiger Shroff applauding Deepika Padukone’s dance number as if she was their long lost family member?

Does Bollywood go to just one doctor for Botox treatments? Is that why all the faces -- particularly those of heroines -- are starting to look the same?

Who is Kainaat Arora and why must we keep seeing close-up shots of her face? (Though admittedly, it’s better than seeing Jaggu dada’s eye sacs close up.)

Sonu Sood, Tiger Shroff and Varun Dhawan won awards. How?

Sonam Kapoor won Achiever Of The Year. For achieving what? Her new accent (which sounds remarkably like Pocahontas’s accent in the Disney cartoon)? (Loved this one ... I tried watching Khubsoorat, sat through half an hour, and gave up because Sonam was SOOOO ANNOYING!!!!! Someone, teach her to act, pleeeaase!!!)

Of course Rajshri Productions got the Hall of Fame award, and deservedly so. However, shouldn’t they have lost points for subjecting unsuspecting audiences to Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon and Vivaah?

While Sooraj Barjatya was on stage, Sonali Bendre and Tabu were seen smiling wistfully in the audience. Were they remembering their shoot for Hum Saath Saath Hain and could hear the sound of black buck hooves in the backdrop?

Did Vishal Bhardwaj, who directed the critically-acclaimed Haider, throw up a little bit when Farah Khan won the Dream Director award for Happy New Year? I know I did. Even Shah Rukh Khan looked amused when he won the Best Actor award. (I thought Deepika looked actually embarrassed, and she even said she was accepting the award on behalf of all the nominees ... am sure she was doing a mental recap of her movie and the others, and burning!)

And finally, the two most critical questions.

If Happy New Year can win Film Of The Year, will pigs fly soon?

Most importantly, will the next award show I sit through be as deadeningly boring as this one? (Hope not ... the promos of the Filmfare Awards seem more promising, with KJO and Kapil, and minus Kapil's annoying cross-dressing friends.)

Sanaya Snippets

After a long drought ... feels like forever ... finally some Sanaya snippets

http://www.tellychakkar.com/tv/year-ender/prediction-tv-actresses-who-can-make-comeback-2015-150110

2015 can prove to be really fruitful for some of the TV actresses who are out of sight at the moment. All they need is a good project to rise and shine again.
Let’s check out which TV actresses have a high chance of making a small screen comeback this year. Munisha Khatwani predicts:

Drashti Dhami: Drashti’s Sun planet is very strong and she would flourish this year. After March and April she has high chances of making a comeback on TV. Powerful Venus gives her beauty and huge fan following. Her lucky months are January and March.

Sanaya Irani: Sanaya’s Saturn is working in her favour. She will continue getting good offers this year as well. I don’t see her taking up a TV show till April-May. Her lucky months are April and July.

Shilpa Anand: Her Sun planet is very strong which will help her in bagging projects in TV. I see her appearing in films as well. Post February she will have a nice professional stint.  Strong Venus and Jupiter will help her to become more famous. Her lucky months are February and June.

Rati Pandey: Rati’s Moon is a bit weak at the moment which is hindering her comeback on TV. I advice her to fast on Mondays and praise Lord Shiva and also donate 1 Kg sugar and rice to shivling. This act will help her for better future. She should look forward to the months of June and August.

Juhi Parmar:  She has powerful Mercury. Her Mars is a bit heavy which will lead to health issues. However, her strong Mercury will favour her professionally post April. She should read Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesdays and Saturdays to negate the Mars affect. May and June are her lucky months.

Giaa Maanek: Her Mars is heavy, affecting her return to small screen, a scenario which will get better post February. She is a victim of people’s jealousy; often leading to distress, to negate it she should donate 1 kg red masoor dal at any Hanuman temple on Tuesdays. Her lucky months are March and May.

Kritika Kamra: Kritika’s Venus and Ketu are strong which is favouring her. I see her doing reality shows in 2015 and also daily soaps. Post July her fortune will shine and her lucky months are March and August.

Rubina Dilaik: Her Saturn is heavy due to which she faces lots of ups and downs in her career. But Saturn is also favouring her in other professional endeavours apart from acting. Post April, she has high chances of making television comeback. Lucky months are May and September.

Sonarika Bhadoria: Her Jupiter is powerful and she will earn more fame soon. She has high chances of doing movies and less TV. But she can take up reality shows. She also has a strong Venus, giving her a commendable fan following. June and October are her lucky months.

Urvashi Dholakia: Urvashi’s Mars is heavy at the moment and that’s why her television comeback is getting delayed. Post May, she might take up a project. To strengthen her Mars she should read Hanuman Chalisa and donate red masoor dal on Tuesdays on any Hanuman Temple. Her lucky months are July and November.

Don't know if I believe any of this, except the first two sound likely ... and that too, not the first if DD is actually getting married, as the rumours go. But Sanaya's come back in March April sounds about right ...

Rati's prediction made me laugh.
Shilpa Anand ... female BS ... she's pretty much out of sight, out of mind.
The rest, not bothered about. Sonarika doing movies?Really?

Another onehttp://www.tellychakkar.com/tv/year-ender/prediction-what-2015-holds-top-tv-celebs-female-150107

After predicting the top TV male actors of the year 2015, it’s time to forecast the future of Top TV actresses.

Yes, Tellychakkar.com is back with one more prediction where our in-house tarot card reader Munisha Khatwani will tell us what 2015 holds for our renowned TV divas. Read on!

Drashti Dhami: Drashti’s Sun planet is very strong at the moment and this will help in her acting career. I see her coming back to small screen post March and April. Due to strong Jupiter she has a massive fan following and it will continue to be like that. Her personal life will also be stable and marriage is on cards for her between the Years 2015 to 2016. I would advise her to offer water to Sun to enhance her career.

Sanaya Irani: Sanaya’s Saturn planet is in favour, thus she will do well in her career. Because of strong Venus her personal life will be stable. She will mostly make a comeback from March to April.

Preetika Rao: Her Moon planet is weak and because of that she has not managed to get that much success and fame. She needs to wear lot of white and also fast on Mondays to strengthen her Moon planet. Post May she might meet someone special.

Divyanka Tripathi: Divyanka’s Mercury is very powerful, hence this will be beneficial for her career. She should wear more of green to enhance her career. Due to strong Venus her personal life will be great. I see her taking her relationship with actor Ssharad Malhotra to another level soon.

Jennifer Winget: Jennifer has weak Jupiter and Venus and that’s the reason her personal life is a bit unstable. She should wear yellow and white to strengthen her Jupiter and Venus planets. Month April to June will be good career wise. Her movie will do average and I would advise her to take up a TV show.

Nia Sharma: Nia’s Saturn planet is favoring her as far as her career is concerned. She will do well in her television soap. Due to weak Venus she will face trouble in her personal life. I would recommend her to donate one kg rice and sugar to Mata temple. March to June is a good period for her professionally.

Surbhi Jyoti: Surbhi’s Moon planet is very powerful and she will shine and garner fame. She will do well in her TV show. She might get into a relationship from June onwards.

Asha Negi: Asha’s Mercury and Venus planets are strong. Her Mercury is compatible to Rithvik Dhanjani’s Mercury which helps their relationship to be stable. There will be a formalization between them this year. She will do well in her upcoming reality show.

Sanjeeda Sheikh: Sanjeeda’s powerful Moon planet will help in her acting profession. I see her doing a TV soap and a reality show this year. Her personal life will be blooming and her best period will be from May.

Paridhi Sharma: Paridhi has very strong Jupiter which helps her garner fame. She also has powerful Venus which helps in her acting career. I see her being committed to her ongoing show Jodha Akbar. Her marriage life will be good and she will keep getting her husband’s support in future.

Ankita Lokhande: Ankita seems to be destiny's child. Her stars are amazingly superb. She will always be in demand in both her profession and personal life.

Disha Parmar: Disha has got good Moon and Sun Planet and that’s the reason she got fame at a very young age. She will take two or three months in making a comeback. I see her falling in love after June and July. I would suggest her to fast on Mondays and pray to Lord Shiva to strengthen her career.

Small snippet on Dhrashti's birthday on SBB, where she nominates Sanaya for Swachh Abhiyan.

This is an older article, came out at the end of 2014.
http://www.tellychakkar.com/tv/year-ender/2014-top-tv-personalities-female-141231

On the small screen, these ladies are a force to reckon with. With more and more shows being female-centric, the fabulous actresses have been putting their best foot forward to entertain and charm us. As the year comes to a close, we quickly round up the top female personalities of the year...take a look:

Drashti Dhami:
She has the looks, the acting skills and the stunning personality to give other actresses a run for their money. But what really sets the beauty apart is her expressive eyes and sizzling smile. Perhaps that's why she was picked to play Madhubala. It's her powerful acting and facial expressions that won the audiences over and made the show such a massive hit.

Sanaya Irani:
There was a time when the bubbly actress wasn't getting her due, but this year has changed all that. She was seen in a complicated yet composed role in Rangrasiya. The role demanded her to showcase many contradicting expressions, which she pulled off with perfect élan. She is also blessed with a very unique face where both modern and traditional roles suit her to the T.

Jennifer Winget:
She is one of the sexiest actresses in town, there's no doubt about that. But what works for the pretty lady is that she is also an amazing performer. With her big, expressive eyes and sexy demeanour, the actress has been creating a wave.

Divyanka Tripathi:
It's not every day that a North Indian gears to play a Tamilian onscreen and that too...really well. From her body language to nuanced accent, the gorgeous actress has knocked it out of the park. She could have easily overdone the South Indian accent but she pulls it off.

Sakshi Tanwar:
She is a personality to reckon with, from her initial 'Bahu' days to her recent role of a middle-aged woman in love have all been appreciated, thanks to her cherubic persona and traditional-meets-modern attitude.

Mouni Roy:
She can cry at the drop of a hat, whether in her role as the mighty Parvati or in real life, the sensitive actress is one sought after artist on the small screen. It's her sweet smile and pretty eyes that make almost everybody her fan. Aren't you a fan too?

Deepika Singh:
Her middle-class values are never comprised on the popular show Diya Aur Baat Hum. That's how assertive and determined she is in real life too. With her parented dialogue delivery and jolly nature, she can make any scene come alive.

Paridhi Sharma:
It takes a unique actress to play a royal role so convincingly, and Sharma is definitely one of them. Her endearing smile and controlled acting makes her a super personality of 2014. How many can keep the dramatisation out of their voice while doing a period drama?

Gauhar Khan:
The hottie has had quite a cool year. Her sizzling good looks are not for show, because she is also a genuinely sweet girl who calls a spade a spade. That's the right attitude to have because sugaring the pill will not take you anywhere. Kudos to Khan for being a super awesome and inspiring personality.

Ekta Kapoor:
When we are talking about top personalities, can the czarina of Indian TV stay behind? With her bold content and TRP-driven shows and her ability to bring an edge to her soaps, the Kapoor girl has ruled this sphere for decades now. She is truly an inspiration to millions of women out there. This year belonged to her with shows from her production house airing on almost all GECs.
