MJHT - Over ... or not? :)

Just when I thought MJHT was over and done with, we get a new article, from the Managing Director of Endemol, no less, regarding the come back of MJHT. And I don't believe this - they're actually thinking about bringing it back - and are 'into developing the storyline' ...

Wait a minute. When did MJHT even have a storyline? Well yes, it did ... the Samrat Gunjan story had a definite path all through ... but the best storylines were the last two, both of which were left half-baked at the end - the career track, for whatever reasons, because the leap had to be taken (not, was taken, but had to be taken), and then the first two months of Season Two, which was the most gripping storyline I've seen after Astitva, and which again was left completely hanging in mid-air because of rodent calls. And of course it was far too mature and serious for the bulk of the established audience, which had gotten used to fluff and nonsense - the eyelocks and TCF's which now pass for high romance on most of the Star One shows. A track which actually made you think - to argue, to debate ... now how could that appeal to anyone at all?

So if they're going to bring MJHT back with the original flavour - that of light hearted fluff and romance, and no substance, hope they do it with a new cast. Or least, without Sanaya (and by association, Mohit). The rest can stay the same - maybe SaJan were whisked off to London by Sam's mom, who finally made an appearance. Then Mayur can continue their romancing and fighting and bringing up their kids in Excel, and maybe new kids can come in to continue the fluff. Or whatever. Don't know, don't care.

Or ... if wiser sense prevails, they bring back SaJan and a new cast as new characters - new people, new romance, all new stories - if they actually have something called stories. And this is a possibility, because at the start of S2, they did have some characters in place with solid storylines - Ash and Rohan were well-defined characters, especially Ash, and their story could have developed on a parallel track with SaJan's, keeping a lighthearted balance to SaJan's intensity, and this was already happening and would have been a treat to watch if it had been allowed to happen. The story writers were doing their work well, and were interlinking all the main characters really well for the first time in the show.

Uday and Benji could be brought back, they're pretty wasted in RBO and Geet from what little I've seen, Naveena looks too old for college, she always did, so am indifferent to her, AB fortunately has his new show, so he's out, besides he's not interested in a youth show now - self-realisation - he knows he looks too old for a college show! And as ratz fans only want AB with ratz, and she also looks far too old for college, she's out as well. Besides, don't think Endemol will touch her now - the tall claims of bring back RP and we'll give you trp's are pretty much exposed, and who would want to be exposed to those psycho fans again anyway. They've wrecked their Di's career pretty thoroughly and the best is, they don't even realise it!

The third option - and the one which I would love the most - bring back SaJan as new characters, grownup ones, in a completely different environment, a brand new love story, and brand new show. Call it whatever - MJHT2/3, or something completely different, I don't care. But a good show with a strong intense story, and no eyelocks, nokjhoks and TCF's, no pbm's and sajdas, so that the hormonoid audience stays away.
Wait a minute ... that's what I've been wanting for Sanaya all along, ever since MJHT ended! :D

  1. Oh Boy !! just when we were at our wit's end thinking what next ? dear lord this comes up... now although the news is HUGE by any account its still a pretty dicey thing for what I think of.

point 1 to be considered - if at all a comeback is planned then will it just be of MJHT the brand ? [as in teens set in a college in an urban city which exposes them to a wide range of new things in life - and most above it all - Love... ] or is it the Show in the truest sense - the actors - and by that I refer to Mohit & Sanaya perhaps to an extent I might be willing to extend that to Jas & Abhi as well, they were good at their job - and that's for starters then anything but the return of excel college - it should be a new story, a brand new setting - perhaps an office romance - perhaps something about youngsters who are freshly graduated could do decently as well - though Mohit & Sanaya can do the college kids bit convincingly still - I want them to show a more mature story definitely - something as intense and as amazing as S2 {the original intended one } not the one which was served later with the return of rats- who totally killed the show .. setting the standards - the first of its kind on Indian TV - that the return of a much in demand so called actress, actually sank the show to its closure ... but more on that perhaps later

ATM all i want to know is.. how far is this news true to its word and what will it deal with if the return is surely on the cards - if the same old excel is brought back .. then err i dont know honestly what to expect but if the plot is changed with something more mature rather than fluff .. I am all for it of course - given Mohit & Sanaya still reprise their roles as Samrat & Gunjan

the one thing which makes me have a slight hope is the fact the sequels of the other 2 shows that have been brought back recently on the tube - Choti Bahu and KMH - both retained the original LEADS - however the rest of the cast was changed of course with a fresh concept .. now I dont watch these shows to comment on them but I do hope the makers of MJHT if at all are planning a new season then the LEADS - Samrat & Gunjan/ Mohit & Sanaya have to return to reprise their roles - now reworked as per the new concept of course, the concept has to be amazing like the prior story of Samrat & Gunjan was and the other actors have to be good in the ensemble... cos as far as the others included in the original series go .. lets see

Naveena - if the setting is altered from college to say office - she can fit in - may not look as a teen anymore, but can play a office bitch to the hilt. Jaskaran - he too can provide relief with his comic timing, provided he is cast in a role that is not there just for the heck of relief.Abhishek - err now this boy is a bit confusing he can carry off the look of a college-goer but other then it - i dunno - his role in geet is hardly anything to judge

and as for the sidekicks .. who needs em - oh wait hormonoids do.. but dint they cause the collapse of the show with their incessant calls and spams and big claims which turned out to be nothing at the end of the day - with their slogan - give us rats, we would give u trp's - instead ending up as - get back rats and there go your trps - may be they should stick to their arti arti pukare hum praani geet .. will help their delusional minds keep busy - cos if arjun was interested in the sequel of MJHT, if he would've given a rats' ass about it.. he wouldnt have jumped on the chance of signing the first show he could get irrespective of what channel, PH or what even his role is

Nope he would rather romance a tree in any other show, be chandu and create a new brand ChandNi .. then perhaps ever want to have to do anything with that wretched thing of a woman called pandey who sunk a show, a darn good one, cause her fans are as stupid as she wants them to be - dumbly calling on missions, spamming religiously as they know on basis of her so-called talent their D is just another wannabe

  2. Hmm ... That's the question, I think ... the first question of course is, how true is this news at all. But no doubt that DMG and MJHT were flagship shows of SO and the channel is struggling after their end. Now KSG is definitely onto a new show, so the return of DMG is doubtful - with the same cast, that is.

Which leaves MJHT - Mohit and Sanaya are free as of now, they would both be interested in working together, but a repeat of college with the same cast would have no novelty value whatsoever. They've already done most of what can be done in college - with the same actors, the same setting - doesn't make sense to me, at least. So I don't really see that happening.

If MJHT is to come back, to my mind there are two possibilities - one, college backdrop but a completely new cast, new characters, new love stories, new problems.
Might work, might not - the same college without the same characters - the old audience would not be interested, and it would take time to build a new one. Which would defeat the purpose of bringing back the show at all.

So the second possibility, as you said, VG, cb and kmh have shown the way - new show, new characters, but the same well-loved actors, so a readymade audience base, and a brand new love story for them. By them, of course I mean Mohit-Sanaya/Samrat-Gunjan - don't give a rats' ass about ratz, pardon the pun ;)
And this could be in a more mature setting, like DCH, young adults just entering the working world - again I can see Uday here, and Dia/Naveena would fit into an office scenario all right, but like you, I feel Abhi would look too young. Anway, for cb and kmh, they have just retained the main leads, the rest of the supporting cast is new, so this point would be moot here as well, I guess.

However, one can't discount the possibility of rodent calls here also, especially if the show is presented as MJHT3, and rodent-in-chief is not in the cast, which seems to be more than a distinct possibility, given her absence at the recent does. And I don't think after their recent experience with the abusive spamming psychofans, the PH is gonna take another chance on that one - they would steer as far from rodent-in-chief as possible, and yet preferably not have a situation arise where missions, spamming and abuse started again, both of the ph people as well as of MS. As we know, MS, especially Sanaya are always targets of the rodent calls, especially the gutterball elements among them. And if we got news of MJHT3 with no chief rodent, you can imagine the abuse that would ensue!!! So after thinking it over, I don't think MJHT S3 is gonna come back any time soon. It's either another college show with a new cast, or MS in a new show, with no sight or sign of rodents, chief or lil ones.
Unless of course, Mohit decides to come back, and Sanaya to look for something else - as they have mentioned that they're open to working separately, that's also another possibility.

Any which way, I don't really care - just want to see Sanaya back on screen as soon as possible. Which given her choosiness about her roles, is not going to happen soon - but when it does, it should definitely be worth the wait.
