RKC week 16 Epi 85-89 Nov 20-24

RKC is picking up pace this week ... good thing is, Anami's  dimaag ki batti is slowly flickering.

Gayatri has played a clever game ... but what will happen if Anami finds out her deceit? Trust betrayed will be difficult to regain. Of course, the bigger deceit by far is Sudha's ... but that will take much longer for Anami  to figure out.

Satrupa plays a clever game again ... starting to match Sudha in cunning and manipulation. Unfortunately, the blindfold that Sudha has placed over Anami's eyes will take some doing to remove. So these games are necessary ... just telling Anami that Sudha is deceitful, was not enough ... nowhere near. her deceit has to be countered with bigger deceit.

I am glad Satrupa finally pointed out to Anami that since she had brought Laddoo here, it was her responsibility to look after him. Anami with her constant, 'you're brainwashing my brother, stay away from him' rants, was getting on my nerves. She just doesn't see that what she accuses Satrupa of doing with Laddoo, is exactly what Sudha is doing with her. Pride comes before a fall ... her fall will be big.

It will be good to see Anami banishing Sudha to the outhouse ... but what games will Sudha play to get back in?

Satrupa told Anami that they took in Narottam to save him from Sudha. More and more I feel it was Sudha who tortured Narottam and made him wear effeminate clothes and learn dance ... not Dadi. Though Dadi is clever too ... it could have easily been her. But what did Sudha do that makes them all hate her so much?

  1. Both Sudha and Satrupa are playing games with Anami ... Sudha is using her as a pawn in her quest for revenge and power over Lal Mahal, while Satrupa is playing games to win over Anami and make her accept her heritage. And Anami is gullible ... she got taken in by Sudha's sweet words, now she is taken in by Dadi's play-acting. Soft sweet words and a display of affection are enough to win her over and blind her to the truth ... Satrupa's straight talking, no-nonsense ways only put her off. Though I still don't understand why Satrupa has never tried to show her more affection ... maybe she knows it will be only taken as a sign of weakness. And like Sudha keeps the fire of revenge burning bright within her, in order to make sure her revenge plans are not derailed, Satrupa too feels that winning Anami over will dampen the fire and spirit that Anami needs to keep alive in order to rid the LM of its many evils.

I was very happy that today for the first time, Anami acknowledged that right and wrong is no longer so easy to decide. For the first time she doubted her own actions, and her perception of right and wrong. Though she still hasn't reached the crux of the matter i.e. whether Sudha is really the aggrieved party and deserving of justice, as she firmly believed not so long ago, or not.

Adhiraj's words about how Sudha did not use the money being sent to her for the last six years, then how did she survive? are finally beginning to sink in and make her think ... and from the last scene, she is slowly picking up the false notes in Sudha's acting.

Hopefully she will also start questioning why does the entire family hate Sudha so much.

And hopefully, with Purushottam's entry, the makers will also give us an answer to that question. Till now, Sudha's story and flashbacks do give the very strong impression that she is the aggrieved party ... only her mind games and plotting and planning show the audience that she is indeed more dark grey than white.

  2. Finally Anami's tubelight is flickering back to life. Like the way everyone - Dadaji, Dadiji and Adhiraj, all played their roles in advising her, directly and indirectly ...

Adhiraj's point was direct - you're all ready to deliver justice to everyone, without pausing to think whether there has ever been injustice done in the first place.

Dadi's words about Ram recognising the true character of Surpnakha, and not going by outer appearances and honeyed words, while Lakshman's anger prevented him from seeing things clearly ...

Dadaji and the chess game ... when Anami insists with her usual arrogance that she always prefers the more difficult path, he gently advises, if you choose the difficult path, be very careful not to make a single mistake, or it can lead to disaster ... checkmate.

Loved the Satrupa-Laddoo scene ... she failed to bond with Anami, but the little boy sees through the tough cold facade to the warm woman beneath, and reaches out to her ... and Satrupa responds. So lovely to see her smiling genuinely and with warmth with Laddoo ... love that bond building up. That bond will serve to open Anami's eyes further ...
