Sanaya in JDJ8 - Finale

Sanaya loses the trophy but emerges winner of a million hearts and more. First runner up, that too, to a trained dancer against the norms of Jhalak, which is supposed to be the journey of a nondancer to becoming a good dancer. So she lost to a trained dancer ... which means she was best in terms of votes + scores among the rest, nondancers and dancers alike.

From the various sources and news coming out from the sets, not only was Sanaya deliberately underscored in the finale acts, but despite her extremely high votes being enough to offset the low scores, she was still cheated of the trophy. From various reports from people on the sets, she was 'the highest voted contestant by far', 'the winner was already decided before the finale performances', 'the votes were discarded for the final result', and she was 'the highest EVER voted contestant on JDJ'. These are not only reports from Sanaya fans, but from neutral viewers on the sets while filming was going on.

Hence for this blog and Sanaya lovers here, Sanaya is the winner of Jhalak. She has emerged a stronger person, a more confident live performer and a better dancer ... and in losing graciously and unfairly to a trained dancer, she has emerged a true winner.

Faisal gave a excellent solo act with Vaishnavi, also a trained dancer ... his choreographer is brilliant, and will go places.

Will post review of her performances later ... am not doing a full review this time, as I am not interested in the rest.

Adding link to Team Sarun review ... TS were there on the sets during the filming of the finale.

  1. Without taking anything away from Faisal and his choreographer, both of whom were brilliant throughout the show, my question is to the producers of JDJ - what was your point of violating the entire premise of the show?

Sanaya has been gracious and professional throughout to more than just the producers of this show - I fervently hope that she gets showered with her fair dues in life!!!!

Thanks Diya for keeping the blog alive and for the link to Team Sarun interviews.

    1. Aki, that is my question too ... JDJ has all along been the journey of a nondancer celeb to becoming a good dancer ... when did it change to a trained dancer competing with a bunch of untrained dancers? And how exactly is it a win for Faisal, to compete with untrained people, when he is already the winner of a dance reality show with TRAINED dancers? How has this added to his credentials in any way? It's given him a fat cheque, that's about all.

I feel so terrible for Sanaya ... she does her best, works the hardest, and the only thing she expects is fair play. And she never gets it.

Anyway, in my mind, she is the winner ... not only because she is the MOST improved dancer, as per the original tenet of the show ... but also she was the most entertaining contestant, the hardest working, and the most gracious in her very unfair defeat ... which wasn't even a defeat ... it was a cheat. If faisal had got more votes, I might be able to make peace with the decision ... though not really, because votes or not, he was a trained dancer competing with untrained dancers ... but the fact remains that they had decided the winner even before the last relay ... and they discarded the votes she got in the last week completely. So the entire result, any way you look at it, was a cheat.

I hope whoever took this decision in Colors, never sleeps peacefully at night ever again.

And I hope Sanaya comes back with a bang, and proves that losing Jhalak made not an iota of difference to her ... and winning Jhalak through unfair means, does not get Faisal anywhere in life.

    2. Agree with you for the most part, especially "I hope whoever took this decision in Colors, never sleeps peacefully at night ever again."

By rigging the show's outcome, the producers of the show cheated all the contestants, the audience and especially Sanaya AND Faisal - no matter how hard one works, there cannot be any joy in such a win/loss.
