Star Plus gets back its top spot on the back of Yeh Rishta and baby swapping!!! This show has been going on for a decade, don't know whether to laugh or cry!!! Again Sony retains good ratings and is at no. 2 on the back of its weekend shows, Kapil and Super Dancer and Colors, though it has the two top shows, KKK and Naagin, only comes in at 4 because none of its fiction shows are doing too well. Shakti is the only one above 2.

SP's Kulfi and Kasauti are doing okay ... heard that Hina Khan is being shown the door in Kasauti as she didn't bring in the TRPs, and the AnuPre love story is doing better without her. Krishna Chali London is apparently a take off on DABH with the girl wanting to be a doctor rather than a police officer ... it's stayed in the charts for a decent length of time.

Zee's fiction shows are doing good too ... the two KKBs, Raabta, Guddan ... one of these days I need to check out these shows to see what is so appealing!

Sony's fiction, after being stable, seems to be struggling again ... Maayke is becoming very irritating, I haven't watched for some time. The girl Jaya is just too dumb and is a puppet of her mother, who seems to be more interested in scoring over her son-in-law than ensuring her daughters' happiness. And I really don't understand why Samar and his mother are so keen to get Jaya back ... and if they are, why didn't Samar tell Jaya about Satya's pretend paralysis and kidnapping.

Patiala Babes is more interesting as of now ... can see the story arc slowly taking shape, and they are taking it slow and steady, to show the gradual change in Babita. Also following Ladies Special ... it's okay, but watchable.

Sanaya is still in the US, with her brother after two weeks with her sister ... brother has had a baby boy, and Sanaya is thoroughly enjoying herself with her nephew, who looks adorable ... a cute little golu molu ... God bless him! Hope this long holiday in the US means that she will be very busy with work once she gets back, hence has taken this break after Ghost. News was that there is still some shoot of Ghost left to be completed in Mumbai ... she will probably get back to work when she reaches home. Something to look forward to ... her insta stories with her nephew are adorable in the meantime! Much better than the slobbery PDA she was posting ... thank God that has stopped.

Sony doing well on the back of its weekend programming ... Kapil has been really good for them! Hope the guy does better in his second innings and doesn't let success go to his head again. And I'm glad that their fictions shows are also reasonably stable ... hopefully means they will be allowed to tell their story as planned, and not rushed off air.

All four main channels are neck to neck though ... and interesting to see that the top four shows are the weekend shows ... three reality, and one Naagin ... god help us! And except for Naagin and Nazar, none of the other plethora of supernatural shows find place in the top 20. Is there hope that Indian TV will come out of this backward crapfest soon? 

IB season 2 is holding weakly onto its ratings ... wonder how long it will stay on air. Same with YHM ... though that one has surely outlived its story by a mile or more, and needs to go off air. I heard that there will be a TRP holiday in Feb-March while the ratings systems are adjusted, so probably the channels are holding on to the current shows till after that. 

Enjoyed Patiala Babes Friday episode ... it was good to see some sensible talk around divorce for once ... loved the way Hanuman Singh fired Mini and her mom about their very filmy take on selling jewelry, and the common sense is accepting ... no, demanding! alimony and child support. Anirudh Dave is a good actor and he plays Hanuman Singh very well ... love his dialogues, whoever writes them is doing a great job. 

Ladies Special ... Meghna is coming up against some common problems in setting up a business ... what makes it more difficult is that her husband doesn't have a job either, so their income is solely dependent on her business taking off soon. Realistic for now ... except for the Cinderella Prarthna-Viraj story ... but that is made watchable because Viraj is such a cute buffoon ... and seems to be genuinely good at heart ... It's cute the way they are showing him falling genuinely for Prarthna ... and she for him. Bindu is another slightly unrealistic character ... is it possible for someone to be so good and selfless? Kangana will become typical vamp ... and Amar of course is clueless husband caught between wife and other woman, and unable, despite being a smart man, to see through Kangana's wiles.

Sanaya is still in the US with her sister ... didn't get back in time for her wedding anniversary. Must be some major reason ... wonder if her sis is married ... and if she's having a baby or something. We did hear that San has to shoot more for Ghost in Feb, and the planned release date is May. She also has Gul's web series lined up ... and Zindabad 2 ... so she has her hands full when she gets back. Maybe that's the reason for the long break ... as she knows she won't be travelling again soon. This has been a long trip out of India ... she came to London in November.
