TV shows ...
Watching Bade Bhaiyya ... hope Meera will soon get rid of Aman. Both Meera and Abhishek have father issues ... he was abandoned by his father, hence major insecurity ... he clings to his family, including the useless chachas, because they are the only father figures he has, and he doesn't want to lose them too.
She has spent most of her life struggling for her father's approval, she yearns to make him proud of her, but sadly her own father doesn't appreciate what she is, because he is so adamant that she become who he wants her to be.
For once Riya didn't annoy me ... I felt bad for her the way that obnoxious guy shut her up repeatedly at the party ... Aman's friends seem to be as obnoxious as he is ... and the conversation between the sisters was nice.
Abhi breaking down in front of his chacha, and Hemraj being so nice and pragmatic and supportive was nice too.

TV Shows I'm Watching

Bade Bhaiyya continues to hold my interest ... a very likeable, sweet lead pair ... both Abhi and Meera are really nice people, genuinely and individually. Most TV lead pairs have some issues, the ML is so often the typical angry young man ... here Abhishek has reason to be angry - lots of reasons, in fact ... father abandoned the family, he abandoned his dreams of becoming engineer, his family is a bunch of shameless spongers, his mother is helpless and semi-invalid, he has virtually no help in running a homestay which appears to be the sole income for the family of 13 people ... yet he is affable, even affectionate with his family, always supportive and even tempered for the most part ... rarely when he does lose his cool, he recovers it almost immediately and apologises for his lapse. Almost perfect, in fact ... except that being so unselfish and self-effacing is a failing in itself. And like Meera, he too suffers from low self-esteem, which is probably compounded by his chacha always reminding him of his father's abandonment, so he 'owes' it to his family to support them.

Meera ... am happy to see that my first favorable impression of the actress's talent was not unfounded. As the story progresses, Namita is bringing in some sweet nuances into Meera, and her dialogues and script support them. The way she realised Abhi was defending his family a bit too loudly and taking the blame on his shoulders, her 'golguppa man' analogy ... and I really liked that she let him know she knew he was lying, she knew it was his family's fault, but she let it go immediately. Sensitive and understanding both.

And Abhi got a glimpse into Meera's vulnerable side, her craving for her father's approval, the small chit which means the world to her ... how he knew that she wasn't talking about a friend, but about herself ...

Liked the Kapil-Bubbly scene ... so Kapil finally brought to remorse about his misdeeds by his Taiji,not by scolding, but by gentleness and understanding ... so much more effective than scolding. And not only Kapil, his mother Madhu as well realised what she and chacha were doing wrong, and she led her husband back from the wrong path as well ... whether that chacha actually uses the money to pay the property tax remains to be seen.

Tuesday 16th Aug - The cliched 'lost in jungle' scenes rendered slightly less cliched by the pragmatic, practical approach of both Abhi and Meera. The difference between Meera's trust in Abhi and her instinctive distrust of Aman ... she is uncomfortable with Aman even touching her hand but has no problem holding tight to Abhi on the bike.
The little scene where she sends him a friend request, his smile when he sees it, accepts ... she smiles mischievously ... very cute!

Burning her clothes because it's more important Abhi doesn't catch cold, he's indispensable for Pant household .. is that the first time anyone other than his mother has been worried about him and his health? Love the way Meera is bindaas about material things like her make up (shared generously with Anita), her clothes ... yes, she doesn't earn so she doesn't realise the value, but she is genuinely not bothered ... gives the impression that she could very easily live without them.

Good to see Daadi worried about both Abhishek and  Meera, and chacha worried about Abhishek's safety. The family does care for him, but their selfishness usually overrides all other emotions.

I think rude Aman is on his way out of Meera's life ... good thing too. Quite an obnoxious man.

Leaked clip of  mock shoot/promo/whatever of Sanaya's new show ... so the show is confirmed, the leads seem to be locked ... she is well and truly on her way back ... halleluiah!!!





According the latest clip from SBAS,  Sanaya and Harshad are playing doctors. Time for me to get ready to *head desk* a few million times ... but anything for Sanaya!!!

First promo for SP's new show Naamkaran ... and it already has me intrigued. I am going to catch this one for sure. Bonus is that the actors are all good, and the child actor seems good from the promo. SP has a record of casting very good child actors ... think Bhavesh and Harshita of Veera, and Ruhi from YHM ... so I'm hoping this ... and Sanaya's show ... are no exceptions.

Bade Bhaiya Ki Dulhaniya continues to hold my interest ... hope the chacha chachi don't degenerate into outright villains, they are  already going down that way. Hope Kapil has some redeeming qualities and owns up ... that will paint his parents very black indeed, so I doubt he will do that. But I wonder how will Meera be cleared ...  and I hope she is cleared very soon, and this whole matter isn't dragged till eternity with no one being the wiser.
If I was Meera, I would have said very firmly that I gave Rs 30,000 to chacha chachi, if the family wants, they can believe me, if they don't believe me, no skin off my back, I'm going. I tried to help you all out, but it seems no  one in this family is bothered about the entire family, except for Abhishek. I'm sorry, Abhishek, I think you're fighting a losing battle here, but they're your family ... all the best.
And if Amma tells her ... so you're saying my son and DIL are lying, Meera should turn around and tell her very firmly, yes, I'm sorry to say this, but they are.

Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke ... the story reaches the main point ... Dev is deliriously happy with Sona, she is his anchor, his soulmate, she makes him feel light hearted and happy again, which he hasn't felt ever since childhood, she teases him, laughs with him, makes him laugh, and he enjoys every moment he spends with her. With her he is not the provider, the responsible one ... with her, he is just himself.
And Ishwari hates that ... an insecure mother, she sees her son going away from her, sees another woman holding sway over him, sees Dev listening to another woman's words, following her wishes ... and Ishwari is scared that she is no longer the number 1 woman in her son's life. Of course, her feelings are reinforced by Radha Rani.
I'm not sure of RR's motives, except that maybe she feels an outsider woman, especially an intelligent one, will see through RR's and Vicky's shenanigans very quickly ... and also they are happy  for Dev to remain unmarried, as that means Vicky may get a bigger share of the business. Vicky is a complete waste ... and RR's encouragement shows a mirror how women raise sons who feel it is all right to insult, eve tease and molest other women.

Ishqbaaz ... not really holding my interest. Gul's strength is romance, but here, none of the couples have a spark ... and her humour is forced at best, and slapstick at worst. The scenes between the couples are repetitive, and all are lifted in some way from IPKKND, but the actors don't manage to lift them anywhere near the same level. Good for a light watch, as the track is light as of now, and for the bromance.

New Sanaya News

The latest news on Sanaya's new show ... Aditya Redij out, Harshad Chopra in. This according to Bollywood life, which is not a very reliable site, however, SBS also reported the same news today, so there may be some truth in it. Still waiting for confirmation from more sources.

If it's true, I'm happy ... Harshad has long been on my list of desired ML's for Sanaya ... he is tall, good looking and a good actor, and will make a good pair with San. They both debuted in the same show, Left Right Left, so there will be a comfort level there already.

TV sensations Harshad Chopra and Sanaya Irani to star in an upcoming show Meenu Maasi. The show is an adaptation of Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla's Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke.

Popular actor Harshad Chopra is all to make a comeback on TELEVISION with none other than vivacious Sanaya Irani on Star Plus new show ‘Meenu Mausi.’

Last seen six months back on Sony TV's show Humsafars,' Harshad Chopra was away from world of serials, trying his hand in Bollywood . But it seems Television is where his true calling is. And this time he is paired with none other than Sanaya Irani. After her marriage with actor Mohit Sehgal this would Sanaya s first assignment post her marriage in February. Last seen in Colors show Rang Rasiya,' Sanaya did Jhalak Dikh La Ja' last year and made it to the finals.

Meenu Mausi' will be actually a television adaptation of Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla's Hum Hai Raahi Pyaar Ke that released in 1993. While in this case on TV , Sanaya will play Aamir Khan's part and Harshad will play Juhi Chawla's character. So the serial Meenu Mausi will actually a story of a young girl Meenu who accidentally gets responsibly of her sisters kids and her life is changed after this. In this journey of forced parenthood she meets a boy who actually will make her sail through this ordeal with dealing with the errant kids and yes they fall in love as well.

Been producer by writer of Ye Hain Mohabbatien' Sonali Jaffer and Aamir Jaffer who have made Bahu Hamari Rajnikant' for Life OK. Sanaya and Harshad have already shot for the pilot of the show and the show will go on floors soon.

For the fans of both Sanaya and Harshad this would a fresh pairing of one of television's most popular faces . While they both surely will look cute together, it needs to be seen how much magic will their chemistry create. In the past Harshad did Kis Des Mein Hai Meraa Dil with Aditi Gupta on Star Plus and Sanaya on the same channel did Iss Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon' with Barun Sobti. Life changed for Harshad after playing Prem in Kis Des Mein Hai Meraa Dil.' While for Sanaya playing Khushi Kumari Gupta in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Do' made her an overnight sensation.

Incidentally both Sanaya and Harshad made their TV debut with same show Left Right Left' on Sab TV. But they were in two different seasons and never worked together.

The last bit is not true ... Sanaya and Harshad did share screen space in LRL in about 8-10 episodes. And we have a few offscreen pics of them together, where they looked really good ... which is why I have been wanting to see them onscreen together.

Popular television actress Sanaya Irani is making her comeback to small screen with "Meenu Mausi." While it was reported that Sanaya had been paired opposite Aditya Redij of "Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai" fame, a Bollywood life report said that Harshad Chopra has been signed up as the male lead.

Harshad, who was last seen on "Humsafars," and Sanaya have already shot the pilot episode and will soon start shooting for the show.

Meenu Mausi" will revolve around an unmarried girl Meenu (played by Sanaya) who dedicates her life for the upbringing of her sister's children. On the course of her accidental parenthood, Meenu meets a boy (played by Harshad), who helps her deal with the kids and eventually the two fall in love with each other.

Produced by "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein" writers Sonali Jaffer and Aamir Jaffer, "Meenu Mausi" is the television adaptation of the Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla starrer, "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke" (1993). However, on the show, Sanaya will play the role of Aamir, while Harshad will be essay Juhi's character. 

The show will mark Sanaya's return to TV after her marriage with Mohit Sehgal in January this year. Sanaya became the audience's favourite with her role of Khushi in "Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?" opposite Barun Sobti and the on-screen chemistry between the actors won viewers' hearts.

Sanaya-Harshad to star together in Meenu Mausi?

The superhit romcom from the 90s, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, is all set to be remade for the small screen. Good news, eh? Wait. We have even better news.

TV hotties Harshad Chopda and Sanaya Irani are recreating the iconic movie in Meenu Mausi, an entertainment portal has reported. According to the site, the twist is that Harshad and Sanaya would be playing Juhi Chawla and Aamir Khan’s roles, respectively.

Which means that Sanaya would play the titular role of a clueless maasi who has to take care of her sister’s kids, while Harshad would be paired opposite her.

He would not only help her handle the kids, but also become her anchor, who would eventually fall in love with her, the site added further.

It’s said that the two have already shot for the pilot episode. Even though the pair has never been cast opposite each other, they starred in two seasons of Left, Right, Left on SAB TV.

Sanaya, who recently got married, would be making her comeback post-marriage. On the other hand, Harshad was last seen in Humsafars.

Now according to reports, the male lead roped in for the show is none other than the handsome Harshad Chopra.

TV Shows I'm Watching

Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke ... the girl has improved slightly, though not too much ... the story is meandering towards the crux now, but I hope they don't make Ishwari too grey. She is becoming too obsessed with her son and the thought of 'losing' him to a new girl ... it's as though she never thought he would ever get married and have a life of his own away from her. Supriya P is a wonderful  actress, I hope she is able to keep Ishwari realistic, and not make her into a typical possessive wicked MIL. Having said that, many MILs are very possessive about their sons, and expect to remain number one in their lives even after their wives come in, so this is not so far from reality.
I like the contrast they are showing in Neha and Ranveer's life, where Neha is trying her best to adjust, and Ranveer and his family appreciate her efforts, and make their own efforts in return. So Neha and Ranveer are getting ready to shift to a small flat of their own, close to his family's house, but enough to give them some privacy, which they lack in Ranveer's family home. And Ranveer's mother and bhabhi are all encouragement for the move.

Bade Bhaiya Ki Dulhaniya ... just started watching this, and I am liking it a lot. For one thing, both the ML and FL are good ... I thought from the promos that the FL would be an airy fairy silly girl, but she makes her own sense out of things, she may be non-academic, but she is not unintelligent, at least, not as of now. And the actress is good at the light hearted stuff, she is bindaas and chirpy, but not annoyingly so. Priyanshu, the ML, is a good actor, and is doing well. the family are all good, special mention to the handicapped Rohan - the actor is doing an excellent job, and the writing is brilliant. Will have to wait and see if the FL can emote well in more serious heavy duty scenes and romance ... she is carrying out the light stuff well.

Ek Duje Ke Vaaste, Ishqbaaz ... not really following too much. IB is too much a carbon copy of IPK,  with no charisma or chemistry between the leads at all ...Nakul is a good actor, but is struggling with the regular Gul angry young man character, Anika is unremarkable. Omkara, the actor and character both are decent, but haven't followed lately to see what's happening with him.

Waiting for more news on Sanaya's new show ... in the meantime, DABH is finally going off air and the new show replacing it is Naamkaran, with Viraf Patel in the lead ... it sounds interesting, as it's based on Zakhm, and on Mahesh Bhatt's life,which was the story of Zakhm. Looking forward to that one.
