Sanaya in JDJ8 - Week 13

Update 6/10 - Weekend review in brief -

The weekend was average in terms of performances.

Saturday- solo acts

Shamita was good, but same old Bollywood style. A song from Devdas, with classical undertones, and Shamita either is not a trained classical dancer, or is a bad one. Her hand postures are all over the place, and she loses her grace whenever the pace of the song quickens. But overall the act was nice.

Mohit - performed with a third choreographer, and the repeated changes affects his performance. Poor coordination, average act. The ending was good.

Sanaya - lyrical hip hop to a remix of a lovely song. Slow beats are most difficult to perform to, and she did a fabulous job. Her flips have become effortless, her transitions are now almost seamless, the last part against the wall was so good ... and her expressions nailed the entire act. And the bit with the thermacol was very difficult, as you can't control thermacol completely, it has a habit of flying in unexpected directions ... and they nailed that part too. A very good performance.

Faisal - his act was very weak this time ... and very uninteresting, I lost interest halfway through.

Sunday - acts with IGT participants

Shamita with the magician - this act was good, much better than I expected. They wove a story seamlessly into the act and did it very well. Again my problem with Shamita's lack of grace, especially in the fast moves ... her hands and legs go all over the place, she does not control her movements well.

Sanaya with the shadow master Prahlad. A good act, they created a beautiful atmosphere, and the act was lyrical in presentation, the feeling of entering a fantasy world was well presented. the return to reality and the ending was a bit tame ... an act should always end with a bang. I had a smile on my face throughout the act ... but the ending fell flat. They should have ended with the return to reality, and bang, a shadow follows them there!

Mohit's act with a chau artist ... it was difficult to incorporate the artiste's talent into a regular performance, and again coordination problems with Sneha. Very average ... the guest artiste was worth watching, I didn't really notice Mohit and Sneha much.

Faisal aerial act with the IGT winner, a aerial artiste ... they started off with Faisal and Manik Paul blindfolded on the aerial eye, Vaishnavi had her eyes open. Good an aerial act is always worth watching ... but not as spectacular as Sanaya and Jai's act ... not by a long shot. It was more acrobatics and less dance, the ground dance was good but too little, and back on the eye, they were just doing different postures.

So all in all - Sanaya had one excellent performance and one good one, Shamita had two decent ones, Faisal had one good and one bad, and Mohit had two very average ones. I feel Mohit will go out first next week in the finale, leaving San, Faisal and Shamita in top three ... and San and Faisal in top two.

************    ******************

Adding the link to Sanaya's interview with team Sarun ... normally they bug me with their BS and ipk jaap ... but this time, it's all about Sanaya and her Jhalak journey, and is one of her best interviews in recent times. I also LOVE her for her stand on water and electricity conservation ... a stand she has maintained for some time. i remember an iv with her on Earth Day where she mentioned that she always shuts the tap while brushing her teeth, switches off lights when she leaves the room, all small things which are second nature to her because of her mother's strictness.

http://teamsarun.com/thank-you-from-the-bottom-of-my-heart-sanaya-irani/

Love the way she thanks her fans for never letting her come in the bottom ... also realise the pressure she was under to perform well, because we would not let her leave the stage ... that is a different kind of pressure ... she HAD to be good, because fans would save her every single time, but she had to justify her stay there by dancing well, she couldn't take it lightly at all. And the hours she put in ... she mentioned how they practiced one day from 8 in the morning to 6.30 am the next morning ... and she wasn't talking about the hours, she was talking about the poor guards who had to stay there for her. Amazing girl!
Also the way she brushed aside all talk about her injuries, saying only they are part and parcel of the JDJ journey, so she just wants her performances to go well. She would tell herself she can curl up and cry with pain after those two and a half minutes are over ... but those two and a half minutes had to go well, putting everything else aside.
More later :)

***************      *****************
Two acts again this week - and Colors has officially lost it. So this week, the penultimate week, will not be scored, but only votes will count. And next week, the finale act will be scored.

Which basically means that everything is in the hands of the judges, as they will know the votes before they distribute scores. When I say distribute, the word is apt, as they have been distributing scores pretty much like laddoos to their favorite contestants, with very little regard for actual merit of the acts. So the chances of their scores being fair are almost nonexistent.

Anyway, it appears this was the pattern last year as well,  so hopefully Jai and Sanaya knew about this. So this weekend will be a frenzy of voting ... let's see if Sanaya fans can overcome this last hurdle and get Sanaya home with the trophy. If the show was a contest for best dancer, Faisal would win hands down ... but since it is for the journey of a non-dancer to becoming a good dancer, Sanaya wins it hands down. Or she should.

First song San and Jai are performing to .. remix version of the old Aashiqui song Dheere dheere ... lyrical hip hop. Seems the performance went well ...thank god, after their poor show last week.

On set post our mind blowing performance.. Feeling great. Thanks to Sano. #sanaya #sanayairani #jai #juzjai #jaikumarnair #love #dance #choreographer #performer #artist #celebrity #friends #mumbai #india #bollywood #movies #star #songs #hindi #selfie #shootday @colorstv @jhalakdikhhlajaaseason8

Lovely pic - San looks like a sixteen year old cheer leader here!

After the tension of last week, it's so good to see Sanaya's natural smile back on her face! Her visitors also have something to do with it :) ... plus the relief of knowing she is safe and not even in bottom two! We did it, Sanayaholics!!! :)

Jai still looking a little sombre here, must be before the act, while in the first pic above, he's smiling widely after the act :)

The second act - shadow act, am looking forward to this one!

SANAYA AND PRAHLAD ARE ALL SET TO LEAVE YOU AWESTRUCK WITH A MAGICAL ACT!

Jhalak is just a week away from its finale. Contestants have geared up for the semi finals and the rehearsal for the finale performance is leaving them dead by the end if the day. But nothing can stop these top contenders from putting up unique acts.
This week was no different, rather was even more surprising with  India’s Got Talent contestants pairing up with our dancing stars. Here's what you will get to see this week.
Sanaya Irani, who has been a consistent performer on Jhalak will be seen performing with IGT’s Prahlad Acharya. We all remember Prahlad for his shadow acts on IGT stage where he received remarkable praises and innumerable standing ovations. One of the finalists on IGT, Prahalad is undeniably talented in the shadow art form.
Sanaya and Prahlad will  perform on Aawara Bhanwre and put up a mesmerising shadows act. Trust us, the combination of dance and the shadow act gave a marvelous effect on stage. After watching their act,  dance guru Ganesh said, ‘’You took us to the world of fantasy’’
From Colors website, pics of Sanaya's first act

With the finale near, it looks like Sanaya is ready for a tough fight. She already has her eyes set on her targets.

Mohit, Rakesh, Riddhi and Akshay seen here on the Jhalak stage. They have come to encourage Sanaya.

Mohit really needs to improve his dress sense!! His T-shirt is horrible!!! Raqesh is always well turned out, and so is Ridhi. Akshay is hit and miss, he is well dressed for once.

Want to know who would steal the show this week?
Well, the highlight of the evening will be a performance by Faisal Khan with the IGT winner, gymnast Manik Paul.
A source from the set said, "They performed an aerial act which was breathtaking from start to finish. The best part of the act was that they were blindfolded. The number they performed on was Ek Haseena Thi."
Awesome, isn't it?
One more finalist who would win all hearts with her act will be Sanaya Irani.
The source adds, "She got to partner shadow artist Prahlad Acharya of IGT fame. They performed on a beautiful act featuring shadow art on the number Awara Bhawre. The judges were mesmerized seeing Prahlad's proficiency in shadow art."

Sanaya in JDJ8 - Week 12

Bad week for Sanaya ... two acts, they scored poorly in the first, and average in the second. Haven't watched the episodes yet, was too busy voting .. but from reports, they were underscored in the first act, the second one was sub-par.

Will add review when I watch the episodes.

The first act was themed Bollywood of the 90's - San and Jai performed to Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen with a horror theme. The act looked good in the promo - but they got only 33.

The second act was the Teen Ka Tadka - Sanaya performed with Drashti. The act didn't look very impressive in the promo - they got 35. Poor San and Jai - they must have been so down ... especially when all the other contestants continue to get laddoos, especially Shamita. So disheartening!

Articles:

Dressed as zombies on week 12 of Jhalak Reloaded, Sanaya and Jai performed to the songs 'saat samundar' and 'yeh kaali kaali aankhen'. The two looked very much like zombies and entertained everyone with their unusual choice of theme. The judges felt the performance was entertaining but  due to lack of dancing and sync awarded the duo just 33 points.

Sanaya, Drashti and Jai performed to the songs 'do you want me' and 'I hate you like I love you' on day 2 of Jhalak. The two who looked like twin sisters went home bagging a total score of 35 points. Shahid said he loved the energy and comfort between the two, however felt that the prop that they used was disturbing, while Malaika loved the concept and complimented Drashti by saying that she didn't only add tadka but also masala to the act. The three looked so adorable!

The good news is that Sanaya is safe and is through to the finals! Halleluiah!!!

Sanaya in JDJ8 -Week 11

Review of Week 11 :

Saturday -
Face off between Neha and Roopal - Pretty much what I felt in the sneak peek. Roopal is lively but has no grace. Neha was good, she is trained in classical dance, but her coordination with her choreographer is off. Also she is not great with the non-Indian stuff, i feel ... her lifts etc. were clumsy. Judges voted in favour of Neha, which was fair enough ... both were average in the face off. No scores given for this round  - weird.

Faisal - An okay-ish performance from Faisal, the choreography overpowered the dance, and limited it too. So while it was visually very pleasing, with some cute moments, the wow factor was missing. He still got 37, which I felt was over-scoring.

Shamita - ode to Maa Durga ... the music was outstanding, but her act was disappointing. No grace at all in the latter half of the dance. 36.

Anita - very pleasant, very beautiful performance, very well choreographed. Saga of the love between a deaf girl and a mute guy ... his collapse in the end, and her tears were moving. Anita's movements were not all clear, they fumbled in a couple of places. 39 - a tad overscored.

Sunday - saw it late, hence the late review

Neha - her main act was good, I loved it. I am anyway partial to classical Indian dance, and she was very good, her postures, her hand movements, her gestures were very clean and clearcut. She lost out again because her choreographer was unable to keep up, and because her expressions were very poor. There was no devotion, no  peace in her face, she looked very tight and grim all through. But I still liked her dance. The contrast between her and Shamita was huge. 35 - okay score. If she was 36 and Shamita 35, that would have been more appropriate.

Sanaya - very, very powerful act ... domestic abuse is ugly, so is divorce ... and they showcased the ugly side. A woman always tries, always gives in, till she finally breaks apart ... I think Sanaya had Daljeet's story in her mind as she did this, she was visibly affected at the end. Very powerful, very moving, very disturbing. The anguish and pain in the broken girl at the end was wrenching.
Didn't agree with Ganesh's remarks that there should be confusion and hope ... in a marriage with abuse, there is no hope. Didn't agree that the emotions were forced ... they felt very real to me. I felt the dance element could have been increased, some of the lifts were too violent, that added to the disturbing factor of the act. Also they moved a shade abruptly between the dance and the narrative.
Again I felt Sanaya was underscored ... 36 was okay, but compared to Shamita, she was much better. And her act was more powerful than Anita's ... that was pleasant and beautiful ... this was the ugly side .. and more taxing to perform.

Mohit - aerial act ... he had a tough act to follow after Sanaya's breath-taking one. They were clumsy and poorly coordinated ... Some lifts were good, most were okay-ish only. Average performance. 36. Again overscored if compared to Sanaya ... she was much better and got much better comments  than both Shamita and Mohit.

Relay - I liked all the acts - loved Mohit, mainly because I love the song. Loved Sanaya, even though I don't love the song! Faisal was cute, but nothing new. Shamita had a couple of good lifts, rest was same old BW style. Anita fumbled because of her long skirt. Neha was unremarkable.

The theme of week 11 of Jhalak was filmy masala. There was a lot of drama, action, romance and devotion on the sets this week.

Sanaya and Jai performing to the song 'aur ho'. The judges absolutely loved their performance and Malaika even went to say if you perform like this, you will surely reach the finals.

For the Jhalak relay act, each contestant was given a light pole and a bench as props for their act.

We were the first one to tell you that wild card contestant Roopal Tyagi will be eliminated from this week’s episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa ReloadedNeha Marda and she turn out to be in the bottom two. The face off bails out Neha while Roopal is asked to leave. Well, if you think that’s what will happen on the show this weekend, you are wrong. There will be scintillating dance performances, some masti and dher sara maza. We have exclusive details of what this weekend of Jhalak…has in store for you.
The episode will begin with Neha and Roopal’s dance off after they are pronounced unsafe. Neha will move to Hey Ganaraya while Roopal will flaunt her steps on Dum maaro dum. But unfortunately for the latter, the judges will give their judgement in favour of Neha. Roopal’s exit will spread a pall of gloom which will be invaded by some eclectic performances. This week the contestants will perform twice. The theme this time is filmy masala. In the first round, Sanaya’s act on Aur ho will blow your mind while Mohit’s Kurbaan hua will floor you. Anita Hasnandani moves like a dream onZindagi kuch to bata, Faisal on Dhadak dhadak while Shamita keeps it mythological this time.
The second round or Jhalak Replay will see the contestants grooving to lilting music. Mohit takes to stage with Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si, Faisal dances on Dil to bachcha hai ji, Sanaya moves toPremika ne pyaar se, while Neha chooses a perfect song for viewers to groove on Love me thoda aur! Shamita Shetty and Anita gets groovy with Aa zara kareeb se and Jo bheji thi dua respectively.
If that wasn’t all, you have the judges and the host trying to audition for Sholay Reloaded to great outcome. While Manish manages to bag the Veeru’s role, Lauren gets the role of Dhanno! But selecting Gabbar Singh was tough as neither Shahid nor Ganesh was ready to let the other play it. To know who managed to do the role at last, you will have to check out the episodes this weekend.

Sanaya in JDJ8 - Week 10

Edited : Review of all performances Week 10

Saturday -

Scarlett and Shamita were more or less at par today ... I actually liked Shamita more, except for her bizarre costume, in which she looked like a cross between a turkey and a chicken. LOL She was graceful, the song was lovely ... the act was good.

Scarlett's act was okay, the song choice was not good, they needed a peppier beat ... and her energy level was low ...  I felt she knew she was going ... or maybe just being bottom and in face off so many times had depressed her morale. Again she cried about not being popular ... hell, she lasted ten weeks on jhalak, and more than popular contestants like VD and Radhika ... she should be happier about that. Her farewell was sweet ... her emotional outburst to Sanaya to win the competition for her ... and Sanaya's equally emotional tears were so touching to watch ... I am very surprised Colors actually aired that part!

Mohit's act was very good ... I won't call it dance, it had less dance and more performance ... and that's what an actor needs. For the first time I  saw that he is a really good actor ... the last part was very, very touching.

His tears annoy me now though ... either they are laying them on too thick to show he's such a softie ... or he really is such a baby!!! He's a regular waterworks!!!

Anita was decent ... she was nervous, and I think she attempted too much for a first performance.

Neha was good ... not surprising since she is a trained dancer ... I thought she would be better ... the synch with her choreo was not good, she lost out there. I like classical dance so I liked her performance.

Sunday

San is rocking Jhalak, and how!!! This again was so far out of her comfort zone ... this girl just doesn't realise how sexy she is ... she was smoking hot and sensuous ... but even more, the act itself was fantastic!

When it started off, I went Shocked wow, that's full blown sexy Embarrassed ... then the dance moves started, and I switched to just watching the lifts ... the first one itself when she gets on Jai's back was so smooth, I don't know how she reached there, and I watched it three times!!! They went on, and the sensuality was in the background, the moves and lifts were in the foreground, the splits, the twists ... and her expressions ... in the middle I registered her expressions very strongly, and thought to myself, ah the actress is very much here ... then went back to admiring the lifts and moves ... and the ending in the shower was again very smooth with great lifts ... finally they went back to pure sensual to round it off and end with a bang.

In short, this was a complete performance ... sensuous, lifts and dance moves and expressions ... all three were mind blowing. Again reminded me why Sanaya is the best actress we have on telly today.

Apart from that ... I loved Faisal's act too, and his AV ... another one who hasn't played the sympathy card ... his mom's AV was sweet and positive, no rona dhona ... and I loved his act for much the same reasons as Sanaya's -  great dance moves, great use of the prop ... there was one move where he caught Vaishnavi as she bent backwards just with the chunari ... and very good expressions. Faisal is not as expressive as Sanaya, he usually does pure dance and less acts ... but this one was a full performance and his expressions were good too.

Mohit's performance faded into the background after these two acts ... he had great expressions, but dance was less in his act and I'm not sure what his prop was. Don't think he deserved the immunity ball ... not after watching Sanaya and Faisal.
Watched Roopal finally - she was unremarkable. This was a normal stage act, not one for a competition, especially one reaching its final stages. Rishi is her choreographer, he was Radhika's choreographer too, and he was completely unimaginative with Radhika. Seems the same way here. Also Roopal is not graceful at all ... she really needs to work on that aspect.

I  did not understand how the marathon was judged ... and I was annoyed that Sanaya was at the back and Shamita was right in front. No comments on the judging, because I honestly didn't watch anyone ... was too busy trying to focus on Sanaya.

**********************              ***********************************

This week promises a sensuous act from Sanaya ... the pics are hot, Sanaya looks like a dream in red ... svelte, sexy seductress ... except that when she is not performing, her face is too sweet to be seductive. But once she gets into the act, that all changes ... and how! No wonder she is the most popular actress on TV today ... her talent is amazing! This act again seems completely out of her comfort zone ...though after last week's aerial act, this one must have been a cake walk of sorts.

A  siggy from a fan ... showing the amazing lifts during the act.

Other Shows this week

Mainly watching Indian Idol Junior ... the kids are amazing. And I love the judges and the hosts ... Manish and his script writers at JDJ should take a look at this show to watch how good hosting can be done without OTT drama, poor jokes, and making fun of contestants' physical attributes. Don't care for Asha Negi's voice ... she is too high pitched and shrill, but she and Husain are a very good hosting duo.

I really like Sonakshi as judge here ... she comes across as very warm  and sweet, and genuinely fond of all the kids. The two men are also very good, they are of course professional music directors, and their comments are very good, they are very encouraging to all contestants ... have to say, all the kids deserve it ... they are fabulous singers. I like the fact that they don't show the scores on screen ... again very nice for the kids, who are young and would get affected by poor scores. Well done show.

Watching ETRETR off and on ... it's very slow!!!

Sanaya on JDJ8 - Week 9

Edited 7/09 - And she was WOW!!!! What an act!!! I had my heart in my mouth through most of it ... I really don't know how Sanaya performed that act ... on top of everything, she hurt herself in the first few moments of the act and was in so much pain that she was tempted to say 'cut' and end it ... but she kept going. And what an act!!!!

Will come back with a more detailed description ... for the moment, every time I watch it, I lose my breath.
 ---------                   -----------      -----------

And after a very forgettable performance last week, Sanaya bounces back with a bang ... and WHAT a bang!!! An aerial act is in store for us ... and she apparently did brilliantly.

Costume drama is the theme decided by the judges, and overseen by Salman Yusuf Khan, the choreographer ... from the costumes, it seems we have some good performances ahead this weekend.

http://colors.in.com/uk/jhalak-dikhhla-jaa/news-jhalak-reloaded-exclusive-costume-ka-dhamaal-3088.html#nav

With the finale nearing, Jhalak has become much more entertaining than ever before. This weekend is filled with surprises, so don’t forget to tune into Jhalak for all the hungama and action!
It wasn’t just Vivian’s elimination that left us heartbroken but also Karan’s departure mid way from Jhalak due to work commitments that left us all teary-eyed. As soon as the news of Karan’s departure from the show was announced, a wave of emotion swept across the entire Jhalak house. Karan’s departure from the show has given way to a new entrant on the show, the sexy and sultry Malaika Arora Khan
Week 9 of Jhalak which kick starts on Saturday will be punched with more entertainment and ‘dance ka tadka’. The theme on the first day is costume drama which will be helmed by the dashing choreographer Salman and will see participants wear unique costumes and perform on stage. While Scarlett will be seen donning the Greek goddess avatar, the petite Sanaya will turn into a flower for her performance . We have seen Salman’s dancing prowess on the previous seasons of Jhalak and by what we have seen of him, there is a definite guarantee that the dance routines wouldn’t even be a tad bit disappointing.
And the WOW act of the week :)

It's week 9 on jhalak and and the theme on day one is 'Costume Drama' where in the contestants will be seen wearing unique costumes during their performances.
The pretty gal Sanaya Irani dressed in a floral outfit will be seen transforming  into a beautiful flower whereas jai her choreo partner will be seen acting like a butterfly.
The duo's perfomance will showcase how a butterfly falls in love with a flower with the help of an aerial act and will be seen performing  to the romantic number ‘Khuda Jane’
For her brilliant performance this week, sanaya wasnt only awarded the performer of the week title but also went home with the immunity ball.
‘’What have you done been a non dancer is commendable. Skilled dancers also don’t perform with such elegance and perfection. It is mind blowing and I am impressed by what you did’’, said Ganesh.
Shahid loved their aerial stunts and gave them a standing ovation while Malaika thought they deserved  a salute. We would say this flower has sprouted beautifully in the past few weeks on jhalak!
All contestants perform on two acts this week

http://colors.in.com/uk/jhalak-dikhhla-jaa/news-jhalak-reloaded-exclusive-its-twos-a-company-on-jhalak-3087.html#nav

It's week 9 on Jhalak Reloaded. With just six contestants left on the show, the stakes have touched an all time high! The theme this week on Jhalak was 'ek main aur ek tu'.  The participants not only performed individually but also performed in pairs of two. The pairing of the contestants was quite unique. The versatile Raftaar for was  paired with the uber athletic Faisal, while the hunky Mohit was paired with the petite Sanaya. Raftarr and Faisal danced to a mashup of 'dhakka laga bhukka' and 'kar ja re ya mar ja re'.
The two participants are known for their high energy and them performing together was a treat for the eyes. The judges absolutely loved their performance. While Shahid gave the duo a standing ovation, Lauren said that Faisal performed like a man. Well! It's no surprise that they did so well after all they have given some of the most mind blowing performances on the show so far.

The one I'm looking forward to :)
