SG and PDA

Yesterday was more caught up with Gunur and I even saw the SG scenes more with reference to that. But later, was thinking ...

Gunjan's self-esteem. Her older sister Nupur - diva of Morena, had guys falling all over her while Gunjan had no admirers. Added to which, a bui who thinks girls' only job in life is to get married. Move to Mumbai, cousin Dia - another diva, leader of the college, super cool, confident, and best friend of Samrat, the guy who Gunjan fell in love with, also had all guys falling over her left right and center. Sheena - Samrat fell for Sheena, and confided all the details to Gunjan - of course, Gunjan was just his best friend, she wasn't the kind a guy would look at in 'that' sense, she was just a friend, because she wasn't cool enough to be a girl friend. Finally Suhani - Samrat's sister, cool, confident in her own right and also has a handsome hunk falling for her at first sight. And these three - Nupur, Dia and Suhani are Gunjan's closest girlfriends.

Why would Samrat look at a girl like her? Sure, they were best friends, they became best friends very quickly for whatever reasons. But friendship is different, when a guy wants romance, he doesn't mean conversation and emotional heart to heart talks - that Samrat already has with Gunjan as a best friend. Where's the romance in being with a serious, simple sober girl like her?

And Samrat doesn't have to show her she's his best friend. he doesn't have to tell her that there are things he can talk about only with her, that they are emotionally very close. She knows that part already. Going for coffee together, sitting in class together, studying together, walking down the corridor together - friends do that, and the whole college knows that Samrat and Gunjan are best friends. And they have been doing that for ever, so much so that everyone thought they were a couple long before they actually were. But what Gunjan feels is that she's not attractive enough for any guy, not as smart, as funny, witty, talkative as Nupur, Dia, Suhani ... she's friend material all right, but not romance material.

And that's what Samrat is trying to show - to her and to the world. That she IS beautiful, she's sexy, she's stunning and she turns him on. The only thing missing from their relationship was their physical attraction and that is the part that Gunjan feels inadequate about, what with her glasses and simple looks. So that's what is being built up - and it has to be in public, because it's other people who are saying she's not good enough for him, and he has to show them that she is. She knows what she means to him, but the fact that the world thinks differently makes her feel that the world may be right - she loves him, but why would he love her when he can have his pick of girls? And by hiding their relationship, he's saying that he thinks the same way - he hid their friendship initially when he was ashamed of being seen with her, because it went against his cool image, later when they became closer, he didn't care what people said any more, she was his friend and everybody had better accept that.
And now he wasn't demonstrative in public because he knew she was shy and reserved and he respected that completely, so he gave her time to get comfortable with the whole changed relationship - and she did. That's why she kissed him - and I was right, it was a turning point.
But now the world is saying she's not good enough for him and that is upsetting her - so Samrat is not going to take that. He WILL show the world that she's the one for him, because he loves her completely - she's his love, his soulmate, his life, and he can't see her upset or feeling small or hurt in any way at all. And he will show her too - that not only is she his best friend, the girl with whom he can share all his thoughts, his insecurities, his secrets, but she is also the girl who makes his heart beat faster, the girl he wants to love, the one he wants in his arms for the rest of his life.

Gunur tension

29th Jan

Another Sajan kiss - need to watch the first part of the episode again - too many interruptions, didn't see much. But whatever I saw, was okay - as far as Gunjan was concerned. I loved her acting - the blend of shyness and confidence was very sweet and the kiss in front of the gang was far sweeter than yesterday's BB public one.

Gunur tension stole the day for me ... loved both the girls. Both are right in their own way and that's what makes it such a difficult situation. Gunjan sees her father's and her sister's pov, but both father and daughter are not ready to see each others' and poor Gunji is caught in the middle, with the father telling her not to side with the sister and the sister being angry that Gunji is not siding her 100% as she always does. But Gunji still manages to come to be with Nupur at the new house - though maybe Nupur thinks now that it's more for Samrat. How difficult it is to forge new relationships while keeping old ones intact. Am not very sure why Nups is so angry at Gunji's PDA - after all, Gunji has seen MN romancing umpteen times - but i think it's just a way of nikaloing her bhadaas on Gunji. And the gussa on Mayank at the end ... can so relate to it! Angry with her sister, yet not ready to let Mayank say anything about her ...

But this is too mature a track for most of the kids on IF, definitely - they have yet to learn that it's not always black and white, there can be grey as well.

Edit: first part of episode - gang cleaning house. Gunjan comes - CUTE SG scene, barely half a minute, okay, Samrat's plan seems to be working, Gunji doesn't die at the mention of a kiss (yet another one lolzzz) but tells him to come back tomorrow for his baksheesh. And when he gives his cheek, she wipes it with her dupatta :) NOW after watching this bit, I wonder at Nups' anger at Gunji's PDA - and the taana yet again about pyaar in public. Yes, Nups is angry with Gunji supporting her dad and even daring to think that MN's shaadi was not right, and is getting upset that Gunji seems to be getting away with being the favourite daughter in spite of being in the same boat.

And then the 'truth and dare' kiss ... seems to have been put in to fuel Nups' fire. First Gunji shows her total trust in Samrat - main tumse nahin darti - when they first got together, she was scared and nervous, but now, no. Jo tum bologe, main karungi, and Nups stares, when Sam asks for a kiss, Nups glares again and Gunji sees her and hesitates, but then Dia eggs her on, it's just the gang and Samrat has been very, very vocal in his love the whole day ... so Gunji goes for it - loved her expressions here, shy yet confident. And Nups is angry again ... but Mayank is least bothered, and Benji unknowingly adds fuel to Nups' fire by saying SG look more like newly weds than MN ... Nupur must be wondering 'then why me? Why am I the one who's thrown out?'

After watching the first part of the episode, am feeling less kindly towards Nups - she is getting jealous of Gunjan, that's the correct word. And she's going back to her unreasonable self. There is some major MN tension coming up ... that's for sure.

What I liked in the kiss scene - the trust Gunjan has on Samrat now even in terms of their physical relationship, she knows he won't stretch the line with her. Which means, there will be no 'pehli baar' for SG. And no, I'm not really getting bugged at the repeated kisses, what was more bugging was that earlier - for the last three months, he has been completely unromantic. A young guy madly in love ... and no hormones? But the kisses should stop being an issue, they should now just come naturally, like their hugs have started happening so naturally.
What I loved in the precap - the SG convo which showed their total communication - a level MN have yet to reach anywhere near, as also seen in the same precap. But have to say, MN is realistic as of now. The only thing is, Nups is going to go back to her not so likeable days.

Probable becoming possible

28 Jan

Mayank gets job.
Samrat invades girls' loo to fing Gunjan - operation Gunjan Self esteem under way
BB court - Samrat kisses Gunjan ...hmmm, although i love SG romance, I want it private. This is too public for my liking ... and for Gunjan's. Hope she tells him so soon.
Corridor - Samrat gives Gunjan roses - more like it :) but pulling her close again? in public again? No, please, let this be only for today. Now the whole college knows - the rest is for Gunjan's self esteem issues, not to show the world any more. He's done enough already today.
Have to admit, I still love SG romance :) ... FINALLY he's remembered he's a boyfriend, and not just a best friend ... cum sister counsellor.

Rest of episode - MN thrown out of college - princi says it must have been Nupur's idea - yes, of course. All crazy ideas are hers ... honestly, why they couldn't stay at Samrat's temporarily is beyond me. "Suniye" again ... help, she really means to call Mayank that!!!! Samrat offers his outhouse ... Nups Gunji tension on Bauji issue ... will more tension come up? Samrat can afford all that Nupur ever wanted in her dreams - the 40 inch tv, the house with servants, and Gunjan is going to get that ... or will get gifts galore with Sam in romantic phase, while Nups struggles for basics. Will that create tension between the sisters? Added to which the Bauji angle - Nupur definitely maroed a taana about ideal daughter there - was it because she's been thrown out for falling in love, while Gunjan has got away scot free so far? Ignore the fact that Gunjan hasn't done much after falling in love ... one peck on the cheek in three months is hardly too much!

Please cv's ... some private SG romance now!!! Although the way they're going, private isn't very safe now that Gunji's inhibitions have dissolved ... shit, this couple is sizzling hot without being cheap in the slightest!!! All their close scenes still give me butterflies ... amourous Samrat is dangerous! No wonder Gunji keeps melting!

One more thought - will this PDA finally bring some differences between SG, which will increase when Sam's mother comes in?

Probable issues coming up

27 Jan

Actually this was a good episode in terms of issues brought in
First the Gun-Bauji talk - she does see her bauji's pov also, although she sympathises with Nupur, so she's caught between the two. Just didn't like the random dialogue of bauji - usko saari umur ghar mein bitha ke rakhta? Aur tumhe bhi? Why, man? Why can't the girls earn their own living, why do they have to sit at home? and why does one love affair mean a girl can never get married again? Anyway, Nups had no dreams apart from marriage so might be slightly justified for her, but not for Gunjan - she always wanted to do something and marriage was never a priority for her.
Then the Sajan talk - and how she explains her bauji's pov ... which he also takes time to understand, but they talk it through, as usual ... Nups overhears, Gun tries to be normal but she can't, Sam to the rescue ... and again, their understanding comes through. And loved the last bit - his pulling her cheeks ... awww, and they walk off together with his arm around her - sigh, finally!
MN - Nups wondering about Gunjan, then very wifely scene - she's taken to her 'wife' role very easily and happily! Scaring the guard was slapstick - nautanki Nups!
Canteen with gang discussing M's job - Nups cold shoulders Gun, Samrat notices ... awwww again. Adhiraj is improving now that he doesn't have to be arrogant any more. Suhani is much better now that she doesn't have to cry any more - honestly, in MJHT, the only actress who can cry continuously without going into Kekta style histrionics is Gunjan!
Nups "suniye" - ROFL ... hilarious scene and Mayank's embarrassment was even more ROFL worthy! Just hope she was doing nautanki and isn't seriously going to be like this - or I can very easily imagine Mayank wondering what he's let himself in for! That might be the next MN track too - Saathiya style. I can already see possibility of major differences between M and N. Could be interesting.

Last Gunjan scene - very very sweet ... all the insecurities I always felt Gunjan would have are now starting to come out and that might be the next Sajan track. But it has to be very carefully handled - not become another Sheena rona dhona type of track. Felt like clapping when i saw that Samrat had heard what Gunji said :D ... and was determined to prove her wrong! Go, Samrat! V-day is just round the corner!!! Perfect timing!

MN, and suhaag raat that wasn't

Okay, this is hilarious - nupur thinking only about suhag raat and mayank NOT thinking about it at all? what kind of guy is he? And MN finally have their "emoshunal' talks ... :) :) :)
and next morning - M is quite shocked that it wasn't a dream, and Nups still in her dream world ...:)
Scenes with gang - cute! MJHT flavour is back!
Finally Shilpa aunty is back - why did Samrat call her? Why didn't Mayank? Too busy in suhag raat? I like Shilpa aunty again today - right blend of firmness, scolding and understanding.
Shilpa aunty with bauji - with the actor, has the character changed as well? Looks like Saathiya track coming up, but with how much of tension between MN? If SG track is starting, maybe MN will be happy for some time. But Gunjan not to talk to Nups? :(

Precap - glimpse of SG, WHEN will they be in focus?

Back in college - and how!

25th Jan

Back in college ... is it still a college? or hotel? or honeymoon suite? or restaurant? or ... dunno what!
Nautanki MN back ... with slightly mature tadka, and totally filmy andaz.
Sajan scene - randomly thrown in ... cv's seem to have realised that sidelining Sajan is doing no good to the trp's ... finally!!! Samrat was really good - for once, he overshadowed Gunjan for me. Love him with that serious intense look :)
Gang setting up the honeymoon suite was cute. Silly, but cute. Thank god no more MN rona dhona.

Sajan scene Sajan scene

Sajan scene last bit Sajan scene2

Okay, am back with more analysis ;)
Just saw the Sajan scene again ... and it TOTALLY gave me goosebumps! Biggest difference between this one and all the other Sajan kiss scenes - there was NO teasing here - it was totally and completely intense from start to finish. The beginning bit was cute - nervous Gunji and Samrat with his usual planning - she was already a bit nervous as to just how they're going to distract the guard ;) so that the others can get in ... it was sooo cute the way she first shook her head, then nodded then started off and then turned tail and ran back ... and Samrat sent her firmly back again :D with his famous dialogue - 'main hoon na'

Mmmm ... and then, Gunjan darts across for the watchman to see her, gets to the other side behind the van and Samrat is there waiting for her ... and he grabs her by the waist again and she almost falls on him ... shit!!! And she starts talking and he puts his finger very firmly on her lips ... double shit!!! And now's where Samrat's expressions are spot on ... NO teasing, no masti, totally intense and concentrated, and the sparks are flying. And Gunjan looks at him and she's lost too ... those barriers to PDA are a thing of the past ... 'aur ab?' ... what do you want now - as though you don't know, Gunji (sigh) ... and he says, now I want something more ... and again, the way he's looking at her was just mmmmmmm ... gosh, did someone ever say they don't have passion??!!!
Bessst part - Gunji says -Samrat, again in that soft, hesitant, yearning tone (has there EVER been a time when the expression in her voice in such scenes has been less than perfect? - I don't remember even once) and Samrat comes back immediately with 'kho gaya Samrat' ... and I died - he's matching gunjan's expressions in voice and his eyes are ufffffff ... and she says - voh aa raha hai, voh humein dhoond raha hai ... and he couldn't care less ... and now, neither could she ... they are both completely and utterly lost in each other, they come closer, she closes her eyes, he closes his ... and my screen is on fire and I'm dead ... those lines about 'kho gaya' are so totally apt ... damn that night watchman!!!!

kekta maata ki jai

22 Jan

when oh when is this shaadi track going to get over?! As expected, Adhiraj tried to be good boy, as expected his dad insulted bauji and walked off - well, don't blame him for that one - and as expected, bauji got MN married. Was surprised mayank agreed so quickly - why didn't he say, let my mother come. Panditji wasn't going anywhere and everyone else had already left. And why exactly was Bauji so unpleasant to MN - he knew they were in love - does he think they did the photo ka natak on purpose? But what a totally Kekta episode - complete with cymbals clashing, three times repetition of dialogues and black and white fadeouts!!!

Miniscule Sajan scene ... now why is Gunji going on about marriage? Thought she'd figured out that Samrat isn't exactly delighted at the prospect. Setting the stage for the SG track to come with mom etc.? Hope we have a nice long SG track this time - three months of MN and AS has put me off the show completely! But also hope it doesn't start with any SG fight about marriage - we had that one already with MN:(

Two out of three

21st Jan

Bauji didn't hear ... so MN path is not going to be so smooth after all.

A's dad saw the picture ... although he insulted Bauji, Bauji and Bui deserved it - they were deceiving A's family by happily marrying off Nups to A without telling them that oops, your brand new daughter-in-law loves someone else and we knew it all along but we're just getting rid of an embarrassment.

A nobly bows out ... that's done for him by his dad, but finally he spoke up for MN ... umm, were you sleeping all this while? And how come no one asked him if he knew about this all along either? And was ready for the shaadi anyway?

So now bride is left dulha less and Bauji will say that who will marry you now, or he will say you have mitti milaoed my izzat so you have to marry my daughter ... and they get married ... seriously, in a youth show???

Hope the follow up to the shaadi is better ... ArTi are much better now that they've matured.

Oh ... and can SG please restart now!!!! Tired of MN and their rona dhona!

DDLJ ripoff

20 Jan

DDLJ ripoff - photo and last scene. Love SRK Kajol :)))

Fortunately tweaked enough to be watchable ... one time. I liked the Sayank and Majan parts the best - can watch those again. MN part - nice the first time - no repeat value for me.
Wonder if Bauji heard ... or Adhiraj's dad will see the photo ... or Adhiraj will nobly bow out ... or all three.

Toss up

19 Jan

Can't decide which is more unwatchable today ... DMG or MJHT ... ROFL!!!!

DMG - switched off halfway - can't take that Shilpa clone unreasonable irritating Riddhima again. Suk's Ridz was so much sweeter!

MJHT - Umm .. what was the whole point of the Bauji Nups Gun scene? He knows she's not happy with the marriage ... so what was he going on about?
Nups, Gunjan and Dia - all were grossly over made up. Especially Nups - looked like a Christmas tree with the heavy lehnga and the metalworks!!!! For once, I didn't like Gunjan's lehnga - didn't like the pink, too bright. Dia's and Suhani's outfits were better.

Total timepass ... are they measuring in real time the time it's going to take for Shilpa aunty to reach Mumbai? And what exactly is Adhiraj upto - he suffers from teh same problem as Mayank - can't tell anyone what he's planning to do. Has major trust issues.

Can't wait for the shaadi track to be over ... it really cannot, cannot get worse than this!

Monday, January 18, 2010

Nothing happened!

Jan 18

Why are they stretching the marriage track sooooooooo much?!!! It's crazy ... squeezing every bit of charm out of the show ... do they HAVE to stretch it till the marriage mandap???!! Answer is YES, obviously, for maximum dramatic effect - how would it be a soap if everything got resolved logically and sensibly and Adhiraj actually listened to Mayank and Samrat and talked to his dad and said I'm not going through with this marriage, because the girl I'm supposed to marry has actually been trying to tell me for the last two weeks (or whatever) that she doesn't want to marry me and it only sank into my thick head now that I'm punishing her (at least he does realise that by marrying her he's punishing her, not giving her the greatest gift of God) for my own idiocy in thinking I fell in love at first sight with a girl who my father sent me to 'look' at, just because I didn't bother to check her full name.
Nope, not gonna happen. Maximum drama will be at wedding mandap, so wedding mandap they all have to reach, by hook or by crook. What's the betting that Adhiraj will magically revive in time and also rush to the mandap - and maybe claim heroically that it was his idea to substitute Mayank, and so relinquish his hero image in Bui's eyes for once and for all? And reinstate Mayank's ... because that is going to take some doing!
Also answers my question as to why Mayank never told his mom about this whole tamasha till the last possible moment ... did he really think that he could handle a shaadi ka issue on his own? No college guy that I know of, and especially not one with the only normal parent on the show, would try to handle a matter like this without involving his parents. But that might have meant that all the shaadi ka tamasha wouldn't have taken place ... so where would the drama have gone? Ergo, mom stays in Bangaluru till last possible moment.

So have to wait till next week for SG track to start ... and just hope against hope that it isn't as badly butchered as this one has been. Whatever happened to making realistic youth oriented college shows?!

SG track starting

14 Jan

Nothing much happened - after A finds letter, gang is worried he will change his mind yet again. Mayanks finally calls his mom.

15 Jan
Nupur talks to Mayank, he tells her his mom is coming.
SG terrace scene - shaadi talk again, G worried sick that MN problem hai to hai, if she and samrat were to be separated - the thought is frightening her to death, the only thing on her mind is - we're not married, the same thing can happen to us.

The whole shaadi thing ... why has it come up in Gunjan's mind at all ... obviously only because of Nupur's problems and the shaadi atmosphere in the house ... completely natural for any girl who's in love to start thinking about her own wedding in such an atmosphere, even one who's not prone to dreaming or thinking about such things at all. On top of which, Bui's repeated comments that she will now get the other two girls married off also ... and I'm not surprised that Gunjan is worried sick!!!!

Her thoughts aren't about marriage ... they're about being separated from Samrat and that's what's frightening her to death ...the only thing on her mind is - we're not married, the same thing can happen to us. Shows her naivety to some extent, shows the kind of upbringing and family that she comes from - that for her, being married is the ultimate solution to this threat that is suddenly hanging over her head.

samrat is coming from a completely different place ... probably because of his parents' divorce, he hasn't thought of marriage as a solution, all he knows is that he will not be separated from Gunjan, heck, he doesn't even want to talk about the possibility of that happening ....

BUT ... and this is where this couple's understanding of each other comes in so beautifully ...

Samrat says - that's the second time in one day you've mentioned marriage, Gunjan now all worried and conscious as to what she's saying - till now it was all about separating from Samrat, but Samrat's question makes her a little conscious, she tries to explain that it's because of the shaadi ka mahaul and all that's going on that she's getting these thoughts. Samrat understands, oh yes he does, but he has far less faith in marriage being the ultimate solution than she does and he says so.

And then HER understanding instantly ... even in the middle of her fears and worries, she knows where he's coming from - because really - is there anything this couple doesn't know about each other? - and replies to his unspoken statement, by saying - all marriages don't break up. And the way she looks at him in this part - she knows why he's saying this, but she wants so badly for him to not feel the same way about THEM, she wants to know that in spite of his parents' experience, his own feelings about marriage, what does he see for them ...

And this for me was the BEST part of the scene - he realises that at the moment, she's scared, she's looking for reassurance, not a debate on marriage, so he just gives her the reassurance she needs so desperately, by saying no, all marriages are not like that, because everyone doesn't have my chashmish. And she needs that closeness, that reassurance desperately - so he's succeeded, because she stops thinking about separation and suddenly she's just a young girl with dreams in her eyes about the boy she loves and being with him forever. In the words that he says, she reads his meaning as - if you need marriage to feel secure, that's what we'll do, because you want it. Whether that is really what he means, or whether he's just saying it because he knows it's what she wants to hear, we'll find out later but for the moment, he's said what she wanted to hear and he's got what he wants - she stops worrying about separation from him, and instead starts thinking about really being with him forever, being married to him.

And she goes into his arms again, needing that closeness, that reassurance desperately - he's succeeded, because she stops thinking about separation and suddenly she's just a young girl with dreams in her eyes about the boy she loves and being with him forever.

And this is why I loved the song on Sajan ... the build up was beautiful and totally apt

Kaise batayen, kyun tujhko chahein, yaara bata na payen
How do I tell you why I love you, oh my love, I can't say it,
baatein dilon ki dekho jo baaki, aankhen tujhe samjhayen
what I can't say, what's in my heart, let my eyes tell you
tu jaane na, tu jaane na

Nigahon mein meri dekho jo hai bas gaya, voh hai milta tumse hubahu
See the one who's taken up residence in my eyes and my heart, see how much she resembles you
Jaane teri aankhen thi ya baatein thi vajah, huey jo tum dil ki aarzoo
Was it your eyes or your words, that you became the one desire of my heart

Yes, he's succeeded, she's forgotten her fears for the moment in her dreams - Gunjan has never been the kind to dream about marriage, that has never been her goal, but the problems with her sister have forced these thoughts into her head, and with Samrat's love and reassurance, those fears are replaced for the moment by dreams. The fears will come back tomorrow, but for today she's content to dream about her love like any young girl and dream about her own happy ending, especially when the boy she loves is only too happy and willing to dream her dreams with her.

His fears and insecurities about the institution of marriage will come back later too, but tonight the most important thing was to reassure her of his love, because for once, she's not the more mature one of the two, she's the one needing his maturity, his strength - and his unconditional love. They are like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, when she needs his strength, he's there to give it to her, and when he needs hers, she becomes strong for him.

Hope this track is played out better than the sister one, and as well as the reconciliation one. Maybe we need a few more discussions on IF to tell the cv's what we expect - they couldn't have done the reconciliation any better, without any mediators, everything we wanted - if they'd been reading our discussions, so we should continue them!

Mahi ve

13th Jan

highlights:
Sajan talk of shaadi

Mahi ve ... where for once Sajan were not sidelined :)

oh yes, and Mayank manages to tell adhiraj about MN, so noble adhiraj backs off immediately - now where were his eyes and ears ... and brain till now?
and Su immediately has to throw spanner in the works by writing that hate letter yesterday - didn't understand why she was doing that yesterday, now I know ...
and last but not least, bauji still likes Samrat - so Sam's mom is going to be the stumbling block for sure ... but YET another shaadi track ... please NO!!!!

SG shaadi talk - simple and direct, like them ... Gunjan says, plz if you have setting with god, tell him no such drama in our shaadi, I can't take it, and Samrat says, i know what u mean, but why think about all that now, we're together, we're happy, that's all that's important, right? No IF we get married - WHEN we get married - is Samrat surprised to hear her say that? Not really, I don't think, the way he's talked, it's always been about forever, the rest of our lives ... but then, he doesn't want to talk about it now ... hmm.

sajan terrace scene - after ages!!!

12th Jan

Pity the depth to which this serial has sunk that I really now watch it only for one couple and nothing else even touches me.
Su moaning over Adhiraj - finally she's realised he's not worth it!
Sam Su - Su talks to her mom, Samrat overhears, doesn't want to discuss it - okay, setting stage for what's coming - liked the way he was studiously ignoring Su's attempts to talk with all the random questions yet with that troubled look on his face.

Maaynk - Adhiraj - blech! HOW are they going to get out of this one? It will be as public and filmy as the other MN reunions, that I can see happening!

Sajan on terrace - help, why are you both on the terrace? Pakde gaye to?
But such a lovely scene - loved the way Samrat promptly goes to Gunjan when he's troubled and spills his heart out to her, loved that dialogue - you don't know what it's like when your mother leaves you in childhood, then he realises what he just said, then Gunjan knows he's feeling bad enough about saying it, so she doesn't cry or weep about her own mother, or even say I do know, but says instead - we knew she wasn't ever coming back - but you always hoped she would. So beautiful and so poignant! Great dialogues ... the best really seem to be reserved for Sajan.
And I just loved the hug ... especially the way it went on and on ... even while he was talking in the end, he said, all right, just for you, I'll meet her, then he hugged her even harder ... as though she is his strength, his comfort, everything he needs to get through every difficult situation in his life.
Sigh ... how amazing this couple is!!!
sajan terrace scene

Sam deciding whether to call his mom

The first Gunur mehndi scene - Nups suddenly getting worried as to what's going to happen? A bit late.
Dia dressing up Mayank as sardar - liked her expressions - she was most satisfied with herself!
Last bit - redundant!

Nups engagement

Nups got 'engaged'. Wrong finger. Even Samrat is running out of ideas ... how long is Mayank going to postpone this? And what difference does it make which finger, anyway? Bad copy of DDLJ - that was so cute with the looks between SRK and Kajol, the mischief and SRK shaking his head at Kajol's stubbornness.

And 'iktara' ... why? That's a song about one-sided love. Thought here the love was very much two sided? Quite a funny scene ... Mayank's expressions were ... strange, to put it kindly ;) He really is NOT good as the lovelorn lover - Samrat does it much, much better. Mayank somehow doesn't get that anguish and pain that Samrat, or Armaan manage to get in their eyes - Armaan used to get actual tears, and Samrat gets the look. Mayank just doesn't. His stretching out his hand, and the ILU, wipe your tears gestures were just comical. Rati was okay - a little filmy, but she looked pretty and she had the expressions. But again - the song for me is ruled by Konkana - and MN could not take over.

I really don't understand the fluctuating emotions here - what exactly was Mayank supposed to do? Talk to A and convince him to not get engaged - okay. And what was A supposed to do then? Break it off in public? And Nups was so triumphant and all smiling after NOT getting engaged - then again suddenly she's in tears???!!! Most illogical scene and episode.

Remember watching a Sajan vm on Iktara ... need to pull that one out.

DMG today

8 Jan 2010

Didn't realise Tamanna had actually left - for once, cv's and my thinking in tune - she was the weakest actress and she and Sid were just not happening!

Pleasure to watch DMG again today - Jennifer without KSG is acceptable - I just don't think of her as the old Riddhima and she's a good actress - for once, Karan W has got a good actress as pair and they really rock! Was in splits - after ages I enjoyed a DMG episode! The acting of the old lot is so good - no wonder I never watched MJHT while DMG was worthwhile - they are far better!
Not that my favorite pair are any less - it's just the other two who are the pits - one in terms of acting and one in terms of story! At least now it seems DMG will be interesting and peppy for some time to come! Just wish RM and Anjali would also come back!

Total time pass

8th Jan

What exactly happened in today's episode??? Apart from Nups coming back home?

A wanting to talk to Nupur, Su sitting like buth, Gunjan standing like buth, two old women not suspecting anything was wrong ... couldn't figure out for long time whether Gunjan even knew that it was Su!

Only good part - the sisters scene - thank god, some lightness and smiles rather than serious emotional stuff.

Again Mayank doesn't manage to talk ... now I'm intrigued ... will Nups actually get engaged to A, and Mayank take her away only at shaadi? Which means this shaadi track goes on for ANOTHER week?
Nupur looking good in a gorgeous lehnga - really heavy!!!

Last good part - precap - all the clothes were looking good! AS in white and baby pink, MN in green and green, and SG gorgeous in sky blue, Gunjan looking slim and stunning!

ROFL and cute scenes

7th jan

why do the most touching MN scenes make me laugh so much???? Is it because Nupur's dialogues are lifted straight from the the 70's or 80's movies??? Bangalore chalte hai, Dubai chalte hain! And Mayank says - bhagne se pehle ek baar pehle mere se baat to kar leti! I laughed out loud at that one! Sure, let's have a serious round table discussion on Running Away and Where to go! Was like the scene in JWM when geet comes to Anshuman and says I ran away to you, and he says - but I never asked you to!

AS scene with A's daadi and A's monologue after that ... seriously, does Adhiraj really expect Su to fall into his arms after that jibe?!

Second MN scene was better - more Mayankish dialogues, so Nups forgot her filmy stuff, tho' she still has very saas bahu expressions - somehow there's no innocence left in her face. For once ... actually often these days, I preferred Mayank to Nupur.

And lots of SG today - just hunting for Nupur, but like a couple - always together. Loved two dialogues - one of Samrat - yeh Chashmish jhooth bolna kab seekhegi?! and the other scene, when Gunjan is so worried and he says, main hoon na and touches her cheek gently. Liked the scene with Dia - Samrat is so mature and sensible, so is Gunjan when she says Bauji will blame Mayank when he finds out - true, Dia, didn't you guys THINK of that? Poor gunji, left to face Bui. Liked the trio scene spiriting Nups away - much needed humour, and Samrat convo with Uday-Benji-Dia
IS Suhani going to wear Nupur's lehnga and get engaged to Adhabandar?

Addendum: Trust - that's the basis of any relationship. Nupur loves Mayank, but doesn't trust him enough to let him figure a way out, partly justified because he hasn't yet told his mom, partly unjustified because he is the more sensible person except for that one disastrous ladder scene. Mayank loves Nupur, he trusts her love, but does he trust her as a person? Does he even respect her as a person? He is so much more mature that I feel theirs will always be an unequal relationship, unless Nupur shows some signs of growing up fast. All she thinks about, dreams about is love and her Prince Charming and their dream house.

Suhani thinks she loves Adhiraj but she doesn't trust him anywhere near enough to tell him the truth about Nupur and trust that he will behave like a decent human being, her distrust is perfectly justofied because he's behaving more irrationally. Adhiraj thinks he loves Suhani but doesn't trust her at all, her or her protestations of love - their love story is still so lame it's almost legless.

Gunjan and Samrat - the basis of their relationship and the reason their love is so strong is the trust between them. The only time it faltered was when they broke up - during friendship days, when he broke her trust by not telling her about the bet, and during their love story when she broke his trust by lying about Suhani. But the trust is deep enough and the relationship strong enough that they could make up. The bet part took time, but the lying part, although the bigger rift, took almost no time - almost a year down the line, the bond had grown so strong that the trust could falter briefly but never break completely, and that's what got them back together, after the initial pain was over, they both realised that there had to be a reason for that breach of trust and the moment they got together, they could heal the breach. Also their thinking levels are similar, Samrat has grown tremendously as a person over the last year, Gunjan has grown too, but less, in the sense she is very confident about Samrat, but is still underconfident in dealing with other people, though much more so than earlier. The biggest plus in Sajan is that their maturity levels are now very similar. They think alike, they deal with situations the same way, they are both level headed and calm, and they act as a team, Samrat is always the leader of the team, but Gunjan is his close second and his conscience keeper. She really is the 'woman behind the man'. They are what most people would talk about as the ideal couple, where no one would be even able to tell who was the dominant partner because they both don't dominate the other, or even try to, they just complement each other.

Sajan again!

6th Jan

Sajan scene ... sigh ... never thought we'd get lucky and get another Sajan scene so soon!!! Haaiyyeee ... Sam staring mesmerised at Gunjan ... don't blame him, she was looking simply stunning!!! And again - the lovely conversation between them - no one is so lucky because no one has my Chashmish

Rest of episode went in a bit of a daze after that scene ;)
AS scene - he's STILL waiting for her to stop the sagai??!!!
Dia et al try to stop him
Sajan with Nups and phone call with Mayank - WHY oh why didn't Mayank tell his mom?
Nups runs away - with help from the trio.

Highlights - Gunjan looking stunning and we got a Sajan scene today!!!!

Edit - in more detail after watching repeat

GunSu … contd – finally Gunjan does tell Suhani that if Adiraj doeasn’t come back to you, maybe your love was not meant to be. A small reality check. My own opinion is that Gunjan should tell her to forget that bandar, there are plenty more fish in the sea, or bandars in the forest, but if she does that, then she’s abandoning Nupur, and she can’t do that … so poor girl is stuck.

Dia Uday Benji Bui – planning for masquerade party for New years, pandit stuff.
Part 1

Sajan scene – wow, we got lucky – a Sajan scene within two days?!!! Obviously the cv’s visited and saw all the posts on missing Sajan … we were very vocal the last few days! And what a scene – I’ve been wanting a mesmerized Samrat to stare at gorgeous Gunjan and we got him today – as mesmerized as he could be and with love, desire, want, possession … everything in his eyes … mummmmyyyy !!!! And Gunjan could see that … is this the first scene after their confession when she’s been dressed up like this and he’s looked at her like this? Maybe … every scene of their seems so fresh and unique, I fall in love with them all over again. Loved the way she was so self-conscious, adjusting her hair, looking down, oh yes, she knows what is between them now … especially after their last hug.

And then she tries to make excuses for looking so gorgeous … and he lightens up the scene, and they’re back to their normal footing again, best friends, a couple who’s together forever, so can discuss anything and everything under the sun, including his sister … then she says thanks, and they’re back to communicating with minds and souls … how effortlessly they slip from one to the other … friends, lovers, soulmates … that’s WHY this couple touches my heart so much?!!!
Sajan - Sam mesmerised

Rest of episode passed in a bit of a blur after that scene – AS part, with A still waiting for Su to stop him, Sajan with Nupur, Nupur’s talk with Mayank where he hasn’t spoken to his mother yet, and she does a Kajol of DDLJ but far less effectively … that was one of my favorite scenes of DDLJ … and Nups was nowhere near that level! So no good for me … neither was Mayank anywhere close to SRK in a direct ripoff scene … couldn’t connect to them at all. Cv’s should be careful when they do such rip-offs – SRK and Kajol are subtle actors especially when paired with each other – their eyes do most of the talking … Rati and Arjun don’t get anywhere near. The Sajan ripoff in the fields was much, much better.

Uday Dia Benji tell Nups to run away … yawn … tellybuzz articles should really stop giving away the story in such detail. Nupur runs away – ROFL moment – Mayank’s expression when he sees the love of his life – he’s not exactly overjoyed, is he?

Salvage some wreckage

AS scene - Poor adhiraj tries - he really does. But he makes me laugh in his emoshunal moments. Liked Samrat - he was talking sense for once instead of grand plans, but Adhiraj is acting like a douche bag!
Nups - filmy drama queen, falling at feet et al!

Benji Uday - amusing - badly required humor! Sayank - good as usual!
SamSU go to Gunur's house. Didn't like Sam's sherwani color! Su's ghagra and jewelry was very pretty :) Bui :(((( but thank god she didn't stop Samrat entering the house.
SamSuGunur - nice ... filmy situation but dialogues were not filmy so okay scene.

GunSu scene - so sweet! I love Gunjan! The way she told Suhani - I loved your brother for so long without ever expecting him to love me back .. 'phir bhi main usse pyar karti chali gayi'
No wonder Su tells her - now you're together aur aise saath ho ki kuch bhi tumhe alag nahin kar sakta ... sigh! Yes, that's their love story in a nutshell!

SaNu scene - verry cute and again, much needed humor and lightness! Trust Sam to lighten up the scene!

Uh oh - Nups runs away. And of course, Mayank will bring her back and become hero! Anyway, there's going to be mehndi and sangeet and a song - some miniscule part for Sajan again? But we'll see Gunjan all dressed up again and maybe at least a five second Sajan part... what fun! Within two weeks - wow!
part 1
part 2

Sajan kiss - 1st Jan

Just can't get tired of watching the Sajan scene of 1st Jan - what a beautiful New Years gift for Sajan and MJHT fans. And when I say beautiful, I mean exactly that - it was a beautiful scene, in terms of acting, dialogues, expressions, settings, everything.

The kiss was probably THE best I've seen on tv - so completely innocent and utterly januable - Sajan just define that word. From the start, when Samrat tries to lighten up what's become a really tense and emotional moment, by saying - give me my kiss which you promised me - the smile on his face is still teasing, especially when he sees her getting all red and blushing, knowing that no one else is around, they are NOT going to be interrupted this time, so no escape ;) and she never did say 'no' to that one demand of his ... her expressions when she looks at him, then looks away are the sweetest, shyest looks ... AND he's put his hands behind his back, meaning the ball's completely in your court, I'm not going to do a thing and you'd better know it.
Then he says 'Chashmish' again - in that sexy way - he wants her kiss, he's not going to break his word, but that doesn't mean he wants or desires her any the less, and she reads that in that one word ... her barriers are already down because of the tension of the past couple of days and the way they just made up, so this time, it's shy Gunjan who just cannot stop herself - she's had a hellish two days with the problems with her sister, on top of which she hated being away from Samrat, not being able to talk to him, his treating her like a stranger, and she cannot ever go through that again ... because she just loves him too much, needs him too much. For once we see Gunjan's deep love for Samrat and her need for him, which is what makes their relationship so beautiful and so unique - they are interdependant, they are two parts of a whole, they're incomplete without each other.
And so she comes closer, and his smile dies as she comes so close, because he loves her and wants her ... he looks at her when she's barely a whisper away from him and sees how nervous she still is - nervous but determined, because she wants this too, only it's a huge, huge step for her - so he gently turns his face to let her kiss his cheek, and the smile's back on his face because she would have kissed him if he'd wanted that - and that's all he needs.
Then she steps back and looks at him - her expression is indescribable, but it's perfect ... and she hides her face in his shoulder, holding on to him again, completely and utterly happy and at peace - she's where she belongs. And he holds her again, his hand on her head in a gesture that's protective, possessive and proud - she's his completely, and he knows it, knows that one simple kiss meant the world to both of them. Did he kiss her when he buried his face in her hair??? And Gunjan's last expression just before the doorbell rang - it was an echo of the neck kiss scene - there was subtle, but very definite desire there ...an awakening of the physical part of their relationship from her side as well.
The post kiss hug was perfect - 10/10!!! Passion and purity in a unique and mindblowing blend. I get goosebumps every time I watch that scene.

EDIT: Gunjan comes to Sam's house and the first hug (edited on 7/1/10)
Sam opens the door and sees only Gunjan - his eyes never move frome hers from the moment he sees her. His face shows first surprise, then his hurt and anger is back. Then she looks at him, and her eyes show her fear, her question 'are you still angry with me, are you still not talking to me?' and the answer she sees in his eyes is a yes, so her eyes start to tear up ... no, she can't bear it any more, please Samrat ...
The others notice them, but they don't even see the others, then Suhani, thankfully for once sensitive to someone's feelings other than her own, takes a very willing Dia and Uday away and Gunjan's eyes show her pain as she looks at Samrat again ... and now, regardless of what happened, how hurt he was, he can't bear it either, because he never could see her crying and today is no exception. He tells her to come in, and she does, slowly, wondering what to say, what to do, all she wants desperately is to kill the distance between them, because she can't take it any more, she can't be away from Samrat any more, even though she knows she hurt him, even though he hurt her by not understanding why she hurt him.
So she turns and looks at him, they both look away because they both can't stand each other's pain, the distance is killing them both, then she says 'Samrat' in a voice that's breaking (shit Sanaya, HOW do you manage this voice) and that is just IT for him. He CANNOT take it, can't take her pain, her tears, especially now when he's caused them, he holds out his arms as though to say - come back, just come back to me and it will all be okay - she runs into them and she's home and safe again ... and he's complete again, holding her in his arms, cradling her against his shoulder while she cries out her pain and he holds her like a child to comfort her, and like a lover because she's his and always will be.
And she cries out, please, don't get angry with me, don't ever stop talking to me and don't, don't ever call me Gunjan again ... the last was the deepest hurt, because she's and only his Chashmish - she's Gunjan to the world, but only Samrat's Chashmish, and his calling her that makes her his, puts his claim on her, which is all she wants. She doesn't need any sagai, any ring, any engagement ... all she needs is for Samrat to call her Chashmish, and to not allow anyone else to call her that. When Nupur told Mayank, I will wear only one ring and it had better be yours if you know what's good for you, I remembered Gunjan saying this and Nups' tears and her pain faded into nothingness ... no wonder Bauji allowed Gunjan to go back to Mumbai with Samrat ... he must have seen the depth of feeling in their eyes, and its sheer purity.
This couple is magic ... and I haven't even reached the promises yet :)

After KDMG, now KMJHT

4th Jan 2010

Didn't really watch much of the episode, tbh, it was full of crying nups ... crying is full saas bahu style ... "bauji, bauji" ... and the rest was Adharaj :(

But one dialogue of Bauji's caught my attention - don't know in what context he was saying it ... the fact that Mayank is only son of single mother, struggling financially, far from settled ... which father would agree to give his daughter to a boy like that? At the moment, that is ... Mayank has no security he can offer Nupur, and he's still studying. True, he's a brilliant student, and has great prospects, but that's in the future ... right now, he's zilch.

Counter argument of course is that what's the big hurry to get Nups married anyway - and I agree totally with that one. But if you're comparing the two guys from a parent's pov, Adhiraj with a sound family and (presumably) financial background, is by far the better prospect. Added to which, he has been behaving like a doodh se dhula bachcha in front of Bauji and Bui (did he bribe that woman?!) while Mayank has been threatening to run away with her and ignore what's right and what's wrong - seriously, Mayank, Nups has given you brain damage!

Now Samrat, on the other hand, has been such a good boy in front of Bauji ... smart too, since Bauji has the last word, not Bui! Kept quiet in front of Bauji, told Gunjan that he respected her father's decision (again in front of Bauji) and has wisely stayed out of the way till now during all this ruckus in case Bauji or Bui sees him flirting with Gunjan (as he seems to be completely incapable of stopping himself from doing that!)

So I'm completely okay with seeing SG maybe once a week in MJHT, and avoiding the rest of the KMJHT episodes completely for the rest of the week. Can drool over the last SG scene and the mega episode scenes for quite some time and pretend MJHT airs only once a week very happily :)

WHAT A WAY TO START THE YEAR!!!! YIPPEEEEEE!!!

1st Jan 2010

oh boy oh boy oh boy ...!!!! Still reeling from Sajanmania ... in an ocean of crappiness, how do they breathe life and freshness and poetry into every frame they come in??? Do they have separate dialogue writers for themselves? Do they write their dialogues on their own? HOW have they managed to keep their Sajanness intact where ALL the others have just sunk into oblivion?

SRK Kajol are a fabulous couple because they emote with their eyes. SG/Monaya are following strongly in their footsteps - and today was a prime example! The eyes spoke ... especially Gunjan, and the emotions in the voices ... perrrrfect!

Right from the second Samrat opened the door to instantly lock his eyes on Gunjan, the pain, the question in her eyes - are you still angry with me? his eyes reflect the pain in hers because whatever happens, however angry he is with her, he can't see her in pain, it's equally painful for him and anyway, who else is he going to share it with? But he's still not quite ready to forgive ...

Then the siblings disappear (for once!!!!) and he sees the tears in her eyes as she looks at him again, and that's kind of that for him ...

And oh, the BG music is fabulous ... soft, soothing with more than a hint of pathos as Gunjan comes in, still wondering what to say, what to do, because she can't bear the distance any more now they're face to face

And then she turns to face him and he's just looking at her, they look away then back ... and that's it. She says Samrat, her voice breaking (HOW does Sanaya do this every time - tears in her voice as though she's trying her best to control herself - never a dramatic breakdown or hysterical sobbing) ... and he's done for. Holds out his arms, she runs into them, he says one word - no, not sorry, just 'Chashmish' and she lets her feelings out - don't ever get angry with me, don't ever stop talking to me and don't, don't ever call me Gunjan again. The simplest of dialogues, straight from the heart, everything that hurt her, she says it straight out.
And so does he - I trusted you more than myself, that's why you hurt me so much more than Suhani ... and she counters him with how he hurt her, and they're back to sharing everything, no holds barred.

Then they hold hands - signature Sajan - friendship and love, and make their promises all over again ... and teasing Samrat is back - I'll never think about any other girl again - while she's wondering, he adds 'especially not that Gunjan' ...
Then he asks for his kiss again, teasing again, but teasing fades as she comes closer ... oh shit, not again "Chashmish" in that low, husky voice (only this time his throat wasn't bad, but the "Chashmish" was as sexy as ever) - and the part which stole my heart - he turns his face just as she comes close, so she kisses his cheek, and he smiles ...
And the post kiss was amazing ... the shy half smile on Gunjan's face and the way Samrat looks at her, then she hides her face in his shoulder, they hold each other tight, his hand stroking her hair in a gesture that's both protective and possessive, and she's at complete peace again, and he's just happy that she's back.

Rest of episode - how to save MN ...
Oh, the first Gunjan and Bauji scene was good too - when Bauji asks 'voh kaisi hai?' Gunjan answers, then her eyes plead with him and Bauji holds her gaze very briefly, then looks away.

EDIT:
Shortest apology on record - Gunjan: Samrat ...
Samrat: chashmish ...

end of apology :) :) :)

Loveliest hug - the post kiss Sajan hug, it was as though they were complete, happy and unutterably content to be exactly where they were - in each others' arms. And could have stayed there forever - except for siblings again!!!!
Honestly, Sajan need an outstation trip on their own ... on second thoughts, with Gunjan's inhibitions about PDA having just dissolved, that might be a bit dangerous! But I wonder if this will be a turning point of sorts in their relationship - till now, Gunjan never felt that she could ever lose Samrat because he was so completely and obviously crazy about her so she never really loosened up about PDA. Will it be different now?

On the other hand, what I like best about their love story is that it is a very private one. The whole world knows that they are together, but they're content to just be together, they don't have to/want to/need to show it to anybody else. Felt this when Samrat said - okay, stop talking about us, let's concentrate on MN. Not only Gunjan, even he is uncomfortable showing his innermost feelings to the world, and his love for Gunjan is what makes him most vulnerable, even more than his family story. So he doesn't really want to share it with anyone except for her, doesn't want anyone except Gunjan to know how much she really means to him. Unlike the MN story, which is now being conducted in full view of the entire gang. Even the SG make up was very private - Dia Uday brought Gunjan to Samrat, and then left them alone. No bheedh bhadakka, no making up in front of the whole world, no loud declarations of ILU and we need to announce it to the world - they made up quietly and on their own, and when the rest came in, they didn't even talk about it - it was over and done with and they were back where they had always been - together. And the others knew that all was okay again because the smiles were back on their faces.

Ah ... and they definitely don't need a 'pehli baar' in the barn to reinforce how much they love each other!!!

What a way to end the year

31st Dec

Hopefully this means an end to saas bahu saga as well.

Oh no - SamAd eyelocks are back - can we end those too?
Nups staring at bauji with hurt look, and Su saying All the best to Ad - the only remotely subtle and non-filmy parts.

Precap - ROFL ... Bauji tells Gunjan, mera naam ooncha rakhna, she promptly kisses Samrat ... am looking fwd to the kiss, but couldn't help laughing at that one!
Sam tells Mayank about Nups shaadi ... the only thing missing was the drumrolls and the focus on each character to make it TOTALLY Balaji show!

Back!
